Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomFor someone who doesn't live in Japan, coming here for the first time and also as my first accommodation did feel foreign and scary - the idea of leaving your luggage where everyone has access to as well as sleeping in a room with other capsules (that are closed with just blinds) and with people you don't know made me feel uncomfortable at first. However, after the first night it got much better and I got used to being around strangers. Everyone there pretty much gets on with their day and keep to themselves.
From what seems like an unusual experience from the outside, turns out to be a very solemn and pleasant stay. I'd definitely recommend staying in a capsule hotel if you want to try something new in Japan. They provide everything you possibly need and respect the boundaries/privacy that you may also need. I also felt quite safe and comfortable here within their facilities and capsules.

GermanyIf you are there for more than 1 night, you have to check out and check in again. In the meantime, you can´t access your locker, because you checked out. No big problem, but this needs a little bit of planning, what to take with you for the day.
Nice stay for short time. Very clean and calm. But beware of snoring guests, so better get some earplugs before.

Hong KongFor female guests, the shower room is on the first floor, the washrooms are on the sixth floor, the luggage is on the third floor, if you sleep on the 9th floor, it would be rather inconvenient as you can imagine.
The location is convenient for travelling by JR .

LatviaSuch a hassle -we lived on the 4th floor, the lockers were on the 2nd floor, showers on the 1st floor and common area last one. All the time using our paper card with qr code and trying to change floors. The house is too small, I really expected the lockers to be close and big, so i can actually feel like i am not in a train station. The lockers are super inconvenient, as they are standard, small train station size. Had to take my bag apart just to fit it in, many guests bags didn't fit at all. The place is nice if you only have a small bag and you stay 1 night, as we heard you have to check out every night. Even the common areas are super quiet and stiff, no couches, no soul really, not meant to stay long or make friends. The receptionist didn't speak enough English and had to use google translate, which seems weird for a hotel when just arriving in a new country. Well, standard hostel experience (just more beds=more alarms)- wake up very early because other girls do not hear their alarms, definitely need earplugs and was super tired from disturbed sleep after a nigh on the plane.
Vey neat and nice to get everything you need for the stay- pajamas, tooth brush...The beds felt nice and were not claustrophobic at all. Recommend one night for the experience. The bedroom looked kind of beautiful with its minimalistic, clean design.

PhilippinesI think it was really hassle to check-out everyday. Although I can leave my belongings in the storage area, I can't use the sleeping facility during certain time slots (cleaning time).
The capsule rooms are spacious. Clean and orderly facilities. Very courteous staff. They are open until early morning to receive incoming guests.

United StatesWe stayed on a friday night- so busy and noisy as young people came in late (12-2am). I think for our family of 4 ppl- would have been more cost-effective to get a traditional hotel room. Needs more charging portals- only 1 USB
Better for young people. Like living in a dorm. The capsule itself was comfy- high enough for me to sit up w headroom to spare. I did change to a lower capsule as I didn't feel comfortable climbing up and down.

AustraliaStaff wasn't so nice - especially the lady who was wearing black glasses. I was not happy with her attitude when asking questions and I sincerely hope she gets retrained on her attitude. Also, the break area was quite uncomfortable as it required you to be 'quiet' at all times which made it impossible to make friends from the hotel which I usually do when I travel around the world.
The location was perfect for travellers as it was located in the heart of Tokyo. The capsule was very well managed and the cleanliness was another level. There were enough shower booth also for the size of the hotel. Definitely will come again for the budget travel!

PhilippinesEven though you're booked multiple nights you have to checkout everyday and checkin after 2pm. Felt like it's definifely made as a place to sleep for those working remotely in the area, not a place where you can have calls though. It's very quiet you feel you have to step out to speak on the phone.
Quite good for a capsule hotel. Great lounge floor overlooking the Tokyo tower, clean facilities.
