I paid way too much money for what i got. I booked on booking.com and found difficuilt to book dinner options so gave up. Just a room for us european style for $800 for 2 nights. Compared to others we have stayed not great value ...

It was in a great area easy walk to station and shopping, food. Staff super lovely , clean and coffee machine downstairs was great.

There was some sort of black mold in the ceiling of the general bath facility. It needed renovation. In retrospect it was not worth the money we paid for the two nights.

Great location but worn Ryokan. Breakfast was excellent though and the service staff was very polite and helpful.

Nothing i didn’t like. The tradional ryokan are less comfortable to occidental houses in my opinion, but that’s what created all the charm.

Very conveniently located, very traditional, great experience for a first stay in Japan.

Th breakfast was genuinely traditional Japanese Kyoto style and the staff are the real asset of this business at Kinoe. They are really professional for the authentic Japanese Ryokan system. And their hospitality is of truly genuine

The futon was kept too fast, when we returned from breakfast. My spouse mentioned he actually wanted to continue to sleep on the futon till check out:)

There were no sofas to relax on after hiking.

The staff were very nice to us. The rooms were clean and spacious. The meals were interesting but we did not care for the first night's meal. The hotpot meal was amazing though.

Outside our room was a small garden with a bright spotlight. At night this light was left on even after we asked for it to be turned off. It was shining directly where we slept. The food the good but not amazing and the beer was not very cold. Overall good experience but should have been and could have been much better.

Unfortunately we cannot have breakfast and dinner kaiseki because my husband is intolerant to fish and seafood, they don’t provide us an alternative meal.

Air con in Japanese room not working properly and it was a very hot night. To be fair we didn't say anything.

For the price the experience was a little..bland? Also short notice about a temporary closing of the ryokan what resulted in having to check out at 10am with no possibility of leaving the luggage somewhere. Also I’ve read a sign that the ryokans can’t call taxis for guests, what i don’t understand.

Authentic traditional old style feeling throughout the accommodation. Very friendly staff.

Our personal choice would be to have some chairs to relax if you don’t like the floor. Futon beds were quite hard but realise that it’s part of the ryokan experience. Felt that the price was high for the amenities and no meals at all!

Room bathroom and shower room needs an update (a little dated).

The Japanese tatami room was spacious and clean. Eating traditional dinners in the room was great. And sleeping on futons was comfortable. The staff were nice and very helpful. Communal bath was nice. Location was walking distance to many Higashiyama temples.

We enjoyed our stay in the ryokan-style room. It was our first experience with this traditional room. Very clean and very pleasant. Staff was helpful. The location was convenient to visit the top sights in the Gion district of Kyoto.

The Futon can be thicker for extra comfort and no curtain so the sunlight will goes directly into every corner of the room from 6am.

Location was great, the room was a bit aged but clean and tidy as expected. Staff was nice and helpful.

The room was insanely hot. And the dining room where we had breakfast was ridiculously hot. Hard to enjoy my food when I am drenched in sweat.

The indoor public bath was a little small.

The Kaiseki was good. The staff was sweet and helped accommodate one of our friends who had allergies to certain foods. The facility was clean.
