Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments

An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Excellent hosts, very kind and very organised, there was information on sights, transportation, everything! We even had a little console to play on. The house was clean, with all amenities and super convenient for Bamboo forest. We found some good places to eat within minutes of the property

The only downside and it is a small one is that it is outside of the centre of Kyoto so if you want nightlife it is a train journey home.
The home was very comfortable with all the facilities you need as a family. The beds were the most comfortable we had on our trip and we all loved the massage chair. The location has easy access to public transport and is easy to find. With local restaurants and shops nearby. I would highly recommend this for families as it provides a comfortable and large accommodation.

Lovely, well thought out accommodation for travellers. Owners were very friendly and welcoming and all the guides were very much appreciated. Would happily recommend and would stay here again if we get the chance to come back 🙂 The 100 yen drinks in the vending machine were very much loved by our youngest!

The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. The bus stop and train station were nearby. The owner prepared excellent information about Kyoto for us. There was even a massage chair.

We had a lot of luggage and it was the second floor.
Very clean, spacious and the hosts very nice. They helped us with transport and so accomodating to our needs. I will definitely will stay here again even though it wasn’t as close as I thought but once knowing the routes of the train stations which was only a few minutes walk. It was easy to get to Kyoto station, the bamboo forests and the monkeys. So close to our accomadation.

The only thing I regret is that you didn't stay longer.
This was amazing. If I could provide an 11/10 I'd be disappointed I couldn't provide a 12/10. Every detail was thought through, exceptional hosts and great location. If visiting the splendor of ancient Kyoto is what you want, do yourself a favor and book in here.

The apartment was away from the main part of Kyoto, but was very close to the monkey park and bamboo forest. not a criticism but something to be aware of.
The apartment was extremely comfortable and very large. facilities were all that we needed and the hosts were not only very nice people but extremely helpful.

Everything was great.
It was a comfortable apartment with enough space to relax at the end of each day. And we really liked the location away from the center. We felt we were in a Japanese town, not in a tourist land like the town center.

Great apartment, clean, spacious and cozy. Has everything for a nice stay. Everyone especially liked the massage chair. The location is close to the bamboo forest and Arashiyama area loved by tourists. The host family are very hospitable, helped with many practical things.

We had booked this accommodation for a 3 night stay in Kyoto. If we had known beforehand how nice this accommodation would be, we would have stayed longer. Our hosts, Jun and Aki, were very nice hosts. Nothing was missing in the apartment, everything was very well furnished and prepared for us. One bedroom was set up in a Japanese room with futons as we were 7 guests. The location is a bit on the outskirts of Kyoto. Nearby is the famous bamboo forest. Several bus and train lines go nearby as well. While we were there, a passport of one of our fellow travelers was lost. Jun, as the host, took very good care of getting this passport back as he phoned the Japanese police for us and arranged the return for us.

Everything was perfect. Location is not central but a ton in the area.
Everything was spotless and beautifully appointed. The price was insane compared to what you get. Best rental I’ve had in years for the price and comfort.

Walking the 1 flight of stairs was a small concern in the rain, but the treads were not slippery.
It is a safe, clean and comfortable flat. The appliances are new or well maintained. The owner and his family are polite and delightful. We enjoyed our stay.

Nothing. It's a bit further out of the center, but not everything you want to do is in the center! Enough to do in these parts too! There is a busstop right in front of the door and the train is only a 6min walk.
We liked EVERYTHING! Absolutely everything you could need is here! The hosts are incredibly nice and go above and beyond to be helpful. The place includes a nice deep bath, a washing machine and dryer, a desk for working, and even a massage chair. It truly has everything you could want for a comfortable stay. Don't forget to go downstairs and ask the daughter of the hosts for her Kimono-shop. She sells kimonos at cheap price, both long and short ones. We stayhere for 5 weeks and had a GREAT time. Thank you ♡

Bedside lamps would be a great addition.
Great location with a small road and stream nearby by lined with cherry trees. Lots of nice walks. Local restaurants good and shops and supermarket close too.

A very cozy apartment, that at first was a bit cold but with AC in every room that was no problem. The beds are comfortable and very warm, the bathtub is amazing to relax in. And the owners are such a lovely couple! Bus and Railway are within comfortable walking distance too, aswell as a 7eleven if needed. They also provided us with a very sweet little guide and recommendations around Kyoto. Communication was very quick!
