Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe room and facilities were very clean, beds were more comfortable than the other beds I'd slept on during my trip. The owner, Shaq, is very friendly and I had a good night chatting with him and some other travelers at the bar, in fact it was the most memorable night of my trip.

DenmarkWe stayed there in January, coldest time of the year. While the bedroom was always nice and warm, the hallway and bathroom area didn't have the heat on. Made it a bit uncomfortable. I am guessing at different times of the year it will not be a problem.
Amazing host. Shaq is a great guy and loves interacting with you. He is ready with great advice. His in-house bar downstairs is also great and fair prices

GermanyShaq is a fantastic host. Took us out and showed us Kanazawa’s nightlife in streets none of us had an idea existed. Ended up in a Karaoke Bar in an intimate setting, with a fantastic atmosphere. Truly exceptional service.

United StatesFar and away the best part about the property were those that manage and run it. しゃく and his employees ensured that everyone had a wonderful stay — customer satisfaction is of the utmost of importance. The staff is jovial, communicative and easy going. Sometimes the employees will even take guests out to explore the area taking part in activities such as, but not limited to karaoke. I’ll remember this place forever and the times I spent here were some of my best memories from Kanazawa. I hope to return!

PortugalI only have 2 improvement points for Shaq’s place. One of them is related with the bed curtains, they only cover half the bed and while you there are not a lot of room mates and you have some privacy, it doesn’t feel like 100% privacy. The second point of improvement is related with the aquarium he has down stairs, Shaq needs to get a bigger ones for his Salamandras
Shaq is a great host, great English level and super helpful. The hostel is very well set up, both bathrooms and showers are great and clean. The fact it has a bar where Shaq himself serves food and drinks made me wonder how it would be with noise BUT surprisingly the sound isolation is great and even if people are having fun and hearing music downstairs, you can’t hear it.

United StatesIt's a hostel. When the place is full, sometimes you're going to get a lot of loud snoring at night or lots of noise from people coming in late or getting up early. But you should know that already when you go to a hostel.
Shaq is an awesome guy with a life calling to do what he does. (Ask him for his story about why he decided to keep running the hostel when the business was struggling.) Cheap price, most sights within walking distance, good food options around. Great experience overall.
