Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The dinner was amazing: wide range offered in buffet style with life counters as well. Everything delicious. A bit overwhelming but that’s a luxury problem. The staff is very friendly. The Onsen is a really big one. Location offers great view for sunset and is a good base to explore the area around

SingaporeNo lounge area with drinks provided to spend the afternoons. If you’re done with the area, then you’re just gonna be cooped in the room/onsen

SingaporeShiretoko Daiichi Hotel is a comfortable base for exploring Shiretoko National Park. The highlight is its large public bath, perfect for relaxing after hiking or sightseeing. The location is very convenient — just near Utoro town, with easy access to a convenience store and several food options within walking distance. Rooms are clean and well-kept, with a mix of Japanese and Western styles, though the decor feels simple and slightly dated. Service is efficient, and the breakfast buffet offers a good variety. Overall, a solid choice if you want convenience, access to the park, and the onsen experience.

AustraliaAll good.
Sumptuous buffet, with an extensive spread. The hotel provided all the facilities anyone could possibly need, including coach service to the Memenbetsu Airport, which we desperately needed.

SingaporeFacilities are quite dated. The children swimming play area feels abandoned, with rusty equipment.
Room was huge. Location is a little away from the main center so would need a car. Buffet dinner spread is really good, with made to order sushi, tempura.

AustraliaMy only suggestion was to have 2 towels provided for each guest. We used our towel for the onsen but that didn't leave another if you wanted a shower.
Location was great and our room had a wonderful view of the ocean. The room was very large and spacious which was great when you carry suitcases. Hotel decor was lovely and we used the onsen each day which was very relaxing! Loved the shop in the foyer and great laundry facilities which is a bonus for travellers.

AustraliaNothing really. The decor was a blast from the past and the hotel is enormous but it was a fun experience for a couple of nights
A time warp! Think 1980s and maybe a bit Russian in style the decor was very well kept but a total blast. We embraced it! Our tatami and futon room was huge and very comfortable with a view of the Okhotsk Sea and the men's Onsen had about 10 pools and was very good. The dinner and breakfast buffets were overwhelming there was so much choice. The food was good but not spectacular. It was a great spot for accessing the Shiretoko national park we had a car and there is heaps of free parking. Shiretoko Steak house opp the World Heritage Centre on the main Rd served us an excellent steak the second night would highly recommend 👌

ThailandQuite early for the check out time.
Very big room and space. Not far from shiretoko national park. Very fresh and tasty food for both dinner and breakfast, especially salmon and hotate sashimi. They also provide tempura and sushi that made from order. Lots of choice of the food and dessert. The staff is nice.

JapanWe did not have our own car and we had to climb up the hill to get back to the hotel. They probably could come to pick us up but we walked anyway.
The hotel sits on a hill and a huge complex. We arrived after dark and they came to pick us up. A large Onsen with several kinds. Foods were very good and they had many choices. I think the hotel could have been more crowded if we had gone in September. We were able to catch a bus to Sapporo at the hotel.

SingaporeThe signage for the locations could be clearer. We got lost trying to find the East wing. The slope was to the hotel was steep if you do not drive.
The dinner buffet was superb. The variety of the breakfast was also outstanding. The ooutdoor portion of the onsen had a good sunset view. The place in general was very big and spacious.
