Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MalaysiaIf you gotten the Osaka Amazing Pass, you would have to stop at one stop earlier and walk 15+ minutes from the train station back. I couldn’t really find Owner-san after she pass me the key on the first day even with ringing the bell, so might be good to be a bit more responsive on message since as foreigners we can’t call on the phone.
The bed was comfortable, not the pillow, but it’s a preference thing. The bathtub was quite cool. The shower is really strong. It’s a really old house, so you can appreciate the structure of the building. The house itself is quite dark, with a slight yellow light in the room, which you can turn on and off on the lamp itself. The area is really quiet, and old, so it’s either okay or not okay to you. Can still get Uberfood. :)

IraqIt would be great if they would serve breakfast in the morning, not elaborate but some dashi, an omelet/tamagoyaki, onigiri or some toasted bread, juice and coffee/tea would be excellent I was there in Nov so the bar was empty entire day so no interaction with other travellers nor locals which is unfortunate
Quiet, authentic, nice little room with furniture from the 1920s - 1930s period. Great, private onsen

New ZealandThere were many people smoking in the common area which then made our room smell a bit like smoke.
Very nice owners and interesting to stay in a traditional Japanese hostel in an older style building.

United KingdomLovely vibe in this ryokan. The owner was really friendly, upgraded us to a bigger room. She walked us to a nearby traditional restaurant and shared a drink with us. She gave us some really good tips to maximise our travel experience. Great location in a small street in a quiet area but a 2 min walk to a train station.

JapanJust a small nitpick but there weren't enough mugs in the shared kitchen.
The room and the Ryokan were really nice. A bit cold during winter but nothing the AC can't solve once you are in your room. Good location for day trips to Arima, Kobe and Osaka. It was a really nice experience staying here, since the staff was really helpful with everything.

United KingdomThe owner went out of her way to make it a great experience. Authentic and old Japanese house with a tiny but excellent bar and cool jazz tunes make a great ambience. The rooms are unique and comfortable and there's a kitchen available to use also. The best stay during the whole three week trip. I liked it so much that I booked a further three nights and look forward to returning one day. It's a two minute walk from Deyashiki Station which is on the main rail line for Kobe and Osaka. Perfect.

United KingdomReally special homely and welcoming ryokan, and so beautiful! Made my trip so special staying here and it was so lovely to make new friends here. Loveliest rooms (I stayed in 2 rooms because of how I booked it), cute little bar where I had such a delicious coffee in the morning, beautiful art on the walls and the most wonderful people working and living there.

Netherlands- Very run down hotel masquerading as a Ryokan. More akin to a run down hostel. - Smoking is allowed indoors so common areas and rooms smell of smoke. - Have to be out of rooms between 10 and 1600. - Not allowed to take room key. - Poor location. - Uncomfortable beds. - Inaccurate listing images that do not reflect rooms or hotel.
