Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The breakfast was amazing - different every day & delicious. More food than I could manage & I have a good appetite. What a fantastic Japanese breakfast! The room was styled as a traditional Ryokan room - huge & very comfortable with an amazing view of the garden & pond out of our window. Our hosts were so kind, friendly & helpful, recommending places to visit & locations for the best pics of Fujisan. I can't recommend this place enough!

SwitzerlandCan’t say much. Everything was great!
A very small and rustic inn run by a lovely family. They also gave us some recommendations on where we could get some amazing views of Mt Fuji. The rooms are simple and even though there is no private bathroom, the inn offers two communal baths with onsen which can be locked for private use. We had no problems using them and there was no waiting as the inn only has about 4 rooms so the baths are not always packed. The meals were probably the best Kaiseki meals we had during our stay in Japan, with a lot of variety and seasonal dishes. We would highly recommend anyone considering visiting the Mt Fuji region to stay at the inn and experience a quiet and authentic getaway from the tourist crowds. We also had the best views of Mount Fuji during sunset from the little lake (Yamanakako) which was a short walk away from the inn.

I really enjoyed my stay here - great location and amazing food! It’s family run business and they were all so kind and helpful. I got there early (2 hours before the regular check-in time) but they let me in and helped me with my luggage. The room was very spacious and overlooking the beautiful garden. I was so impressed with the food!!! Both the kaiseki dinner and breakfast were delicious! Everything was so fresh and tasty. I highly recommend taking the meal option. It’s close to the lake and public transit, so perfect for a traveler without a car. I’m definitely staying here again next time when I’m in Yamanakako.

Very clean and cozy family run hotel. Both the dinner and breakfast are amazing and impressive. The bathroom is good for relaxing. FYI. The google map direction is wrong, the hotel is just 2 mins walk along the path you can find to the left side of the station.

Perfect location, only 3 minutes walking from bus station to Kawaguchi/Tokyo and Yamanaka Lake itself. Hotel is not brand new, but very clean and well maintained. They are ran by family of 3 with no employee, and so the experience felt exclusive. We ordered dinner (which was Kaiseki style) right after check in. At the beginning they said there was no time to prepare. But later they said they could, and even accommodated our no-pork diet restriction. We paid 3,500 yen/pax, which was very worth it! If you feel like eating out at night, the breakfast looks like mini Kaiseki itself so for experience you won't miss anything. They didn't provide bike, but Yoichi (the son) offered to drive us to closes bike rental station. Sadly it was cancelled as the weather wasn't very good that day, so we didn't explore Yamanaka a lot. In many cases it would disappoint us, but here the hotel ambience well compensated it. We were happy spending time at the hotel, and of course the massage chair in common room was very nice. Really recommend to visit if you want to experience staying in traditional tyle Japanese room.

The owners are fantastic cooks! This is the second time we came and mainly for the meals! The helpful Host showed us a video on how to debone the fish during dinner. Breakfast has been wonderful too. There is a small but beautiful garden right by the building. Take lots of lovely ig photos! Room and bed is clean. Though the weather is cold, the heater and air conditioning in the room is cozy for the family. the lake is walking distance away. View of mount Fuji can be seen by the lake. Parking is easy.

BelgiumEverything was nice. A real Japanese experience!
We spent four days in this beautiful ryokan. This is a typical Japanese hotel with big rooms, futons and veranda space to enjoy the view of the garden. Our host and his family were exceptionally nice and helpful. They tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible (even providing us with coffee in addition to the Japanese breakfast). The owner speaks English and took us by car to see Mt. Fuji from different view points. He was extremely nice and suggested restaurants and other amenities and he even drove us there in a few occasions when it was possible for him. We had a lovely stay and felt like we belonged there. The ryokan is a little old but that adds charm to it. Thanks to all the family for their kindness. If in the area, we would certainly visit this ryokan again.

SingaporeThe futon and pillow were a bit hard for me, but that was a minor thing.
The owner and his family were super welcoming and friendly. The place looks a bit old as the business has been running for a long time, but for us that's what a traditional Japanese inn should be like and thus it was just great. It's a few minutes walk from the lake as well. The hot bath was a big plus after a long day outside during winter. The food was amazing! Better to check their website for more information and contact the owner directly to make a reservation :)
