Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaInstructions on the need to wash the whole body before getting into the onsen bath should be enforced to keep hygienic the onsen bath pool.
The hotel staff guides the customer to pull their luggages on the soft carpet. The purpose is to clean the wheels to keep the tatam like floor of the hotel. The purpose is to protect the floor from dirt. Customers are then asked to take off their shoes and lock them in a locker. Customers walk barefooted inside the hotel. Socks are provided for guests who want to weak socks instead of barefoot walk on the tatami inside the hotel.

NetherlandsClear instructions for people who are not familiar with the onsen etiquette (and I am not referring to the standard rules like take shower and be silent). But things like put the small towel on top of your head. These things are new and further guidance would be welcomed.
The onsen was very good although a loud TV in the Finnish sauna felt awkward. The restaurants in the neighbourhood are grrr eat value for money and are truly authentic Japanse.

SwitzerlandWe did not have a view, but this is something that we have found in numerous hotels in Japan.
The room was very spacious and well decorated, which is rare in Japan. We liked the fact that we had to leave our shoes at the entrance of the hotel and walk bare foot in the hotel.

This was our second visit. It is a beautiful experience from the door to the top floor onsen. Staff are wonderful and warm, every aspect of the hotel is stunningly beautiful and the breakfast and onsen and massage chairs are incredible.

SingaporeNothing that I didn't like. I'm definitely returning again.
Stayed 2 days at the hotel and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. They even had a English speaking staff to assist foreign tourists. I really felt "omotenashi" during my stay here. The facilities were great too and I'm so happy that they had free washing machine. You just needed to pay another 100 yen to dry your clothes for 20 mins. It was great that you could enjoy the onsen, wait for your laundry to finish, then enjoy the free ice-cream or probiotic drink after the onsen. Had breakfast during the New Year period and the food was great. There was a change in the menu on day 2, so I was impressed.

JapanThe shower hoses in the bath need to be wiped as there is a build of mold or (manganese bacteria)?
Excellent food service and overall amenities. The onsen bath was great! I enjoy strong shower dead spray and this was perfect. Nice views from the outdoor bath, and the extra touch of free ice cream after the bath was very enjoyable. The staff at the front desk were very capable and helpful with English explanations as well!

JapanA view from our room would have been nice, but we forgot to request one. Whether rooms on upper floors have nice views or not, I don’t know.
Although we weren’t crazy about having to put our shoes in a locker every time we entered the hotel, the fact that the floors throughout the hotel completely tatami was a novel touch, and there were nice little Japanese design features in the rooms and the hallways (see pictures). The range of food for the breakfast was wide and fresh (you can watch them making the tempura)

FranceClean, quiet and the onsen was great The breakfast might be a bit expensive but it was really a good deal, tasty and various dishes. Be aware that it's a bit far from the JR station (15min walking) and even if there are many izakaya around, it's not easy to identify the menu or even the izakaya/restaurant itself for foreign tourist. note that at the entrance, you have to walk on tatami, no shoes allowed in the hotel.
