Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanI booked for Shiretoko Village, but I finally was in the Hanare House (dormitories) which hasn't the same rights than people in Shiretoko Village (no yukata, no access to same facilities...). The dormitory is boxes, but the property under and arround my bed was very bad.
I liked the lobby's style and you are not in the city center (15 minutes walking) but it's easy and most of local activites offer a pick up at the hostel. The onsen is pleasant facility too !

Israel*The hotel is far away from the buss station and its up the hill, so the walk there could be challangeing. It didnt bother me too much, it was a nice walk, but a bit incinvinient. *The toilets wasn't flashing so well, i do think there was a cleaning lady who cleaned them every morning but sometimes it was stinky. *there are no showers. There is a public onsen, and private onsen. as i said, i could get the private one whenever i needed it, but it still a bit disapointing to pay money every time you want to shower, and you have to paln it, and do it on certain hours, the water in the onsen were brown, which might be normal but i didnt want to go in. It is ina different building which wasnt to bad, because the walk there is realy short, but again, a bit of an inconvinience. *I couldn't use their resturant, because apperantly you have to make reservation at list 24 hourse in advence. Not that i starved because of that, there are shops and resturant down town, but its like 10 minute walk down hill and the you have to go up-hill again. So maybe make sure to bring food with you, there is a big refridgirator. *The reception is in a different facility, thats where the resturant and the onsen are. I couldnt understand completely if its another hotel or is it just a different facility of the same hotel, but it mean there are no stuff in the building where my room was, when i got there they exidently gave me the wrong PIN code for the room door, which isnt a big deal, but for a while i couldnt enter my room and didnt know why, until another girl from the same room opened it. Of course i could go to the other building and ask them (its 3 steps away, its right across the steeet and the road isnt big) but it was a bit of an inconvience. *the PIN code was also not my favorite thing, it was much easier if we just had a key
I loved my bed it was very comftereble, the curtains realy blocked light well. I loved the window in my room and the glass doors in the livingroom, beutiful view. Feel like im in the midle of a forest. The area is beuatiful,on the first day ive seen a fox on my way to the hostel, and from my room window i could see wood packers. I got a free towel, which not all hostels give you, so that was nice too. And i managed to get a private onsen whenever i needed i for only 1100 yen,, which was one of my concerns looking at the comment section on booking. Oh and i almost forgot to say there was a cat outside, that i could see from the livingroom once in a while.

BulgariaThe room was very basic but there were good things: very nice shared living room, very nice private onsen, the shared one was also good, delicious and beautiful dinner. It is not far away from the bus station so it is possible to explore Shiretoko from there.

JapanThe onsen was really dirty. I think they should add the sign to female bath that they shouldn’t enter the bath if they’re on period, because I planned to enjoy onsen on the day I arrived but once I entered the bath I saw blood flooding around. Everything else was fine, I’d say good, but this part impacted my experience a lot
Cheap, not too far from the bus stop.

NetherlandsThe whole facility could do with a bit of renovation, but it still serves its purpose. People are nice and helping.
Breakfast is well arranged, ample and nice. It remains a very attractive site to stay while exploring Shiretoko National Park.

VietnamThe building was old, so you could see that the dust gathered more easily. Also, there was only 1 private onsen available, despite the 2 private onsen available.
Good and friendly staff that go above and beyond their working hours to help us and accommodate our requests. Free green and water.

SingaporeThe facilities are a little rundown for the annex building that we stayed. It's not connected with shelter. Instead, it is across the road from the main building. There is no shower room available for those that are not comfortable in using the public onsen. The carpet in my room was a little rundown. Not comfortable walking on it.
The staff are helpful. Parking lot available plenty full.

JapanIt is situated at the top of a hill and the free shuttle doesn't run all the time, so you may have to carry your bags up which could be difficult. There are no showers, only public onsen, so you have to be comfortable bathing nude with other people (unless you pay for a private onsen but I don't know how much it costs). There is also a small onsen tax that you have to pay, I think even if you don't use the onsen. I was also told I couldn't book breakfast and dinner, but that was probably because they were full, so keep that in mind and book ahead if you want it (although there are some delicious eateries in town).
This was the first hostel I've stayed in and it was a good experience. The staff are super helpful, there is a good range of snacks available (at an extra cost) and free green tea on offer, and I loved the onsen! It was good value for money, and a good choice since there isn't much accommodation in the town. I saw several families so I think it's also suitable for kids.

ItalyA nice place, easy to reach if you have a car. The atmosphere is relaxed, a sort of "ryokan hostel" (we stayed in a double room, not in the dorm), nice breakfast and great dinner. The onsen is what you need after a hiking day in shiretoko peninsula. A plus: the free green tea dispenser.

BelgiumThere was a lot of noise starting from 7, from the cleaning or kitchen staff.. no one should vacuüm rooms before 9 am if you want to be considerate to other guest staying more then 1 night. As the walls were thin and our neighboors were loud until late in the night and cleaning started way to early, we didnt have one night of good sleep from the 3 nights we stayed here..

MalaysiaThe location is a bit not friendly to travellers who do not have their own transport. I have to full my luggage and walk uphill from the Utoro bus stop for 1KM to reach the hotel. If the hotel can offer pickup (even with small fees is all right) from the bus station, it would be wonderful and definitely added value.
The dinner set is exceptional.
