How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff is absolutely wonderful, professional, always helpful and positive, they make you feel like home. The premises are in a secured compound and the house, outdoors and rooms are very well furnished, decorated, maintained, and clean. Beds are comfy, environment is quite at night (for light sleepers like me).
We just had one or two mosquitoes at night, and a few misunderstandings for dinner orders but that was nothing compared to positive points :) My brother found his mattress a bit hard to his taste but overall he loved his stay as well.

Verified reviewA beautiful environment in a very safe location. Staff looked after me well and met any requests. Excellent breakfast which I took late due to a medical appointment but staff were very happy to work around my needs. There is a small swimming pool which I didn't have time to use but looked lovely. My room was great - well appointed with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. I had access to a lovely big living room, dining room and outdoor area. Friends are welcome to visit and enjoy the space with you.
I couldn't get my TV to work but I am sure if I had asked this would have been looked into immediately!

Verified reviewWe liked everything starting by the friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed the place, really clean both in the room and the exteriors. We loved the breakfast too composed with fresh fruits muesli vegetables and on-demand eggs cooked by the chef.

Two issues: one, if you book a double room, it’s totally different to the pictures on booking; they show the suite, not the double room. So there is dishonesty. Two, the thieving. I left some money and two credit cards in the safe. Both cards were compromised and some of the cash went missing - not all of it at once, but in small installments. I’m sure it did because I kept thinking the cash pile was getting lighter until I counted it, locked the safe, then counted it again and 5,000 Kenyan shilling (30-40 euro) was missing. I can’t prove it, so I didn’t make a fuss. On leaving, I pretended I had forgotten my code to see who had access to the safe key and it looked like they had proper procedures in place. So I wasn’t sure what to think, but I can’t imagine where else the money could have gone missing - or how else the cards would start showing suspicious transactions. Now I’m in Kenya, at another hotel, with no access to my money because I’ve had to block both my cards. It’s a massive headache
As our guest, we thank you for choosing our property and take note of your comments in the review. On the claim that the marketing pictures of our double room; deluxe room are those of the suite, this statement is not correct. The images presented for our double room; deluxe rooms are actual. We would have loved to show you around the property so you could view our different room products, had you made a request. You have also made a claim of gradual theft of monies from the safe in your room, yet for the entire duration of your stay, you opted to not report this loss to the manager. Is it possible that if indeed any theft did occur, the theft may have been by some of your visitors to the room? And during your checking out on the 28th November, at 12h39, you presented 2 credit cards that were declined. The third one was accepted and it was upon this moment that you told the manager that you had the bank block the 2 credit cards due to a suspicious transaction. We still wonder why you presented the 2 cards in the first place. Finally, as you left the property upon check out, you offered 2 of our staff a tip of KES 1,000 (one thousand) each. It feels contradictory that you would appreciate our staff, even though you claim to have lost valuables in your room. In our view, a report of the alleged loss, to the manager would have been more helpful than the eventual publishing this review.

Verified reviewA beautiful and calm oasis to escape from Nairobi’s craziness in a safe neighborhood. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Antonina and Wilson took best care of us and left us with no wish unfulfilled. We even got a free room upgrade just to make us feel more at home. We ate there for lunch two times and it also very good !
