How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThank you to the host Thomas for an unforgettable stay at the Glass House. We stayed in the wooden one. The food from Chef Sam was amazing and went beyond expectations. Every meal tasted like it was made with real passion. The packed lunches for our game drives were convenient and perfectly portioned. The beds were soft and very comfortable. The view of Mt. Kilimanjaro was breathtaking. The pool was a little cold but still fun and refreshing. The showers were not heated, but after a day in the African sun, they felt just right. Another Sam, who takes care of the house, was incredibly kind and attentive. He made sure we were always comfortable and set up an outdoor fire every evening just in time for stargazing. Getting there was a bit challenging. We’ve pinned the exact spot where to turn off from the main highway C102 and added a photo for directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/CYh3SEKKKM2rwhQx6?g_st=aw. The Google Maps route is bumpier, so it’s best to avoid it. This place is truly special and made for an unforgettable experience.

Verified reviewEveryone was very welcoming. I had a dog with me which they were very accommodating about. The place looked out over Mount Kilimanjaro. They put on the fire pit and bbq on request whenever it was needed.
The kitchenware was extremely high in the cupboards making it very difficult to get anything.

Verified reviewWe had excellent communication with the owner. He tried to solve all our questions. His assistants tried to help us in everything. The owner organized a great safari.
The house needs renovation. It is noticeable that nothing has been updated here for several years. The shower is broken in all the bedrooms, the furniture is broken and dirty. The curtains were dirty, the room smells of dampness. The owner definitely needs to do some renovations.
Thanks for visiting. however, I believe the review is not very fair. the house is only two years old and all the showers are working well. I have reconfirmed.

Verified reviewThe place with the best view ever. You can see Kilimanjaro from the room and terrace. A quiet village around. Peace and quiet, beautiful views. This is one of the best memories from Kenya. The breakfasts, lunches and dinners prepared by the Chef were very tasty. On the day of our visit to the park, he got up very early and prepared lunch and breakfast for us so that we could take our meals to the park. It was a delicious break from animal viewing. Another guy helped us get to the property from the main road and to the main road from the property the first and next day. We are very grateful to the owner and his staff for a nice stay. We highly recommend staying there. It was better than the park itself. Additional information: The road from the place to the park was also very interesting. Early in the morning and in the evening we passed many animals walking along the road: monkeys, giraffes, antelopes, zebras.

Verified reviewViews of Kilimanjaro are stunning and the peace and quiet most welcome. Staff are friendly and the evening BBQ and bonfire great.
Pretty difficult to find. Got lost every time we came and left the place. It's several kms from the main road. Showers were a bit hit and miss, never quite warm and flood the whole bathroom. Few things need upgrading and renovating. Looks a bit more dated compared with the photos...

ask the host for the shortcut to the house from the main road, the google maps way is really long and dangerous

Verified reviewThe location is excellent. Great views of Kilamanjaro (if the clouds don't obstruct it). Clear starry nights. Complimentary beer and a bonfire! Fully functional kitchen too
Don't follow Google maps to reach - ask the Host. There's a much better road which isn't shown on the map. Also, you'll probably need own transport/ arrange a cab. Not close to public transport. Also the drain in one bathroom was clogged, the water stayed stagnant for a bit after a bath

Verified reviewLarge and modern rooms, power generator for blackouts, wonderful chef @ home for dinner and breakfast on request, warm welcome by co-host
Hot water only warm, no internet connection (it had a temporary issue, probably: wifi was working and router was on)

Verified reviewThe view was amazing. Big glass windows facing mount kilimanjaro. First was the mountain hidden in clouds, but next day almost totally exposed. Travel to Amboseli National Park was not far and we have seen 4 out of the big 5 in one day. Back at the Glass house there was a BBQ waiting.

Verified reviewI loved the smooth check inn process , the road to it one needs a good car but manageable. The host Thomas super helpful and gave clear instructions, the caretaker Sam was friendly and pleasant. The house is indeed a gem love the set up kudos to the chef .The view of the Mountain is amazing scenic all the way .I enjoyed my stay and would totally recommend .Thank you Thomas and for adding oomph to the place.
The road can be a tricky manoeuvre ,some improvements on the shower itay be the pressure of the water for consideration.
Thanks for the review, you are welcome back

Verified reviewLocation is beautiful and the compound is quite nice. The house is very spacious and comfortable. The host, Brian, was very friendly
There is no way to get fresh air in the bedrooms, or bathrooms, which is not so nice. The noise of music and prayers from the nearby church was annoying and went all night until 6 am. We actually thought there was a watchman who was singing, only to by yu77
Thanks for the review, sorry about the noise from the neighbouring church it is a very isolated event which I have no control on as it happens outside my compound.

Verified reviewThe host is very hospitable. He checks on my comfort frequently. There's an awesome view of Mt. Kilimanjaro from the house, clearely viewable from the room due to the big glasses in the room. That was a really great architectural work. There's plenty of fenced outdoor space that one can use to unwind safely. I liked the pool table accessibility for guests. The place is clean and has plenty of clean water. I recommend everyone to visit this glass house in Oloitoktok
