Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyWe had two nights with 13 degrees outside and we missed heaters in the room but... It's understandable why in Kenya they don't have them.
We have been at Jambo Mara for two night to experience an unforgivable safari. We have been unlucky with the weather getting showers both evenings and eventually suffering a bit the absence of heaters in the room. That said, everything at Jambo Mara is great, from reception to the rooms (we had the glass lodge), from food to location. We simply loved it.

United KingdomVariety and quality of food could have been better. Food lacked flavour and breakfast/lunch boxes could be improved particularly when out for the whole day on safari.
The glass room apartment. Cleanliness and overall setting which was excellent . Beautifully presented with spacious garden space. Very helpful and accommodating staff. Rooms cleaned every day to a very high standard . The walkway to the restaurant was also lovely with beautiful plants either side of the pathway. Lovely market on the lawn too with a good choice of local craft. Within walking distance to a Masai village which we visited and was a great treat to see rural life at its best.

United Arab EmiratesThe main dining area could’ve been nicer, lighting was very minimal and the same lodge promo video was playing over and over again.
We got upgraded to the deluxe glass cottages which was really nice and spacious for the whole family. Food was alright as expected with a mix of international, Kenyan and Indian dishes.

Czech RepublicThe lodge is located directly in the park, so you are required to pay an entrance fee of 200 USD per person, regardless of the time you arrive—even if it's just 5 minutes before 6 PM when the gates close, they will still charge you. If there is an alternative route to the lodge, it wasn't clear, and on the way from Nairobi, we didn't see any signs that would direct us to the lodge from another side. The price for accommodation is higher, but this is more or less standard for a safari experience.
Our experience at Jambo Mara Safari Lodge was absolutely amazing. We would like to commend the excellent cuisine, which provided us with delicious meals every day. A special thanks goes to the staff for their patience and understanding in resolving a misunderstanding regarding the payment – their professionalism ensured that everything was quickly and smoothly resolved. We also greatly appreciate their willingness and empathy in addressing our complaint regarding the scope of services. Everything was resolved to our full satisfaction. The staff was incredibly accommodating and did everything possible to make our stay unforgettable. Our stay at Jambo Mara Safari Lodge was truly wonderful, and we would love to return.

United StatesWe didn't stay long enough.
Jambo Mara is right on the footsteps of one of the Mara entrances. A nice property that is accessible and will allow you to relax after a long day of "safari-ing"! Both dinner and breakfast were up to standard, and a picnic was packed for us for the full day safari! We were pleased with it all. Thank you!

United StatesThe showers are heated by solar, which meant they were fairly chilly during our visit - we had more rain and clouds than sunshine. Robby at the front desk arranged for hot water to be delivered in a bucket for mum’s morning shower, which was appreciated. You have to go through the gate to get into the park / access road, but this lodge is technically outside the park so for a foreigner, it’s $80 USD a day. Worth it, but also important to know for your budget! The electricity is run by a generator, which was turned off from 12-5 am. Was plenty of time to charge all electronics, but my husband was not able to sleep with his cpap. These things were not deal breakers - it was a lovely place with wonderful staff. Just good to have reasonable expectations!
Lovely experience. Was about 12 km from the main gate (Sekenani) on a bumpy dirt road. We had a Rav 4 and it took about 45 minutes to reach the lodge. (I now know that we could have left the car at the gate and the hotel could have arranged better transport to get us to the lodge!) We rented 2 of the glass cottages - one for me and my husband and the other for his 80 year old mother. When the staff heard that she was coming, they went out of their way to care for her (and us! Exceptional service). They gave us cottages near the dining hall, offered her room service, and took extra time to walk us to the cottage with flashlights at night. Meals were included and tasty. Lunch and dinner consisted of buffets with usually had rice, potato, pasta, vegetables, meat (beef or lamb), chicken, and fish. There were salads at dinner and fruit and dessert. Good food! Daniel arranged for a game drive for us and told the driver to go carefully because of mum. They packed us a lunch while we were out on the safari. The following day, we visited a Maasai village and got to learn about the culture and had a chance to buy some authentic souvenirs. Great location for access to both of these activities. Felt safe and secure. The facilities were fine, but it was the staff made this place stellar going out of their way to ensure our comfort. They even packed us a lunch to go when we checked out since we didn’t eat lunch at the lodge on the first day of arrival.

CanadaThere is NO power from 11 pm till 5 am everyday. Also from 2-5 pm NO power. The showers were NOT hot and barely warm which makes it very difficult to shower on cold mornings with no heat at all. Ran out of soda flavor but they didn't bring in more. This place is close to being highly rated but the no power and no hot showers isn't acceptable for the price. Pool is also ice cold and unusable for more than a minute
Beautiful location and glass windows to enjoy the park. Right inside Masai Mara. Buffet was good nightly.

IndiaVery poor quality of everything. Rooms: very poor quality of construction. Exposed electrical wires. Uncomfortable bed. Dirty water in the bathroom, could not even brush our teeth. Dining: quality of food was very bad. Staff were rude. We went for breakfast and tried to sit at a table near the buffet. The staff told us vey rudely that we could not sit there as the table was reserved for “guests”. We told him that we were also guests and there was no “reserved” tag on the table. He, however, insisted that we sit at a table in the corner where we sat the previous evening. Stayed at several other properties during the trip and all were wonderful. Jambo Mara was the only exception. Would not recommend.
Nothing.
