Reviews of Ilala House, Voi - 2 bed, 2 bath

A bit out of town, but very nice apartments with welcoming host.

The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and showers were hot. The host was very kind and accommodated our arrival which was later than planned due to traffic and car issues.

The apartment was difficult to find - a boda guy helped us out. The road was very rough and needs a high clearance vehicle. Getting out in the morning was easier so maybe Google maps wasn't correct. As it's quite isolated having milk and something simple for breakfast would be a nice touch, as other comparable places offer this.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Ilala House. The host, Christine and housekeeper Jane, were very helpful. The house was quite clean and tastefully furnished.

The only critique we had was the in-road heading to the property. It's quite rough and bumpy

Beautiful spacious, clean, comfortable apartments

Staff was so helpful and nice. Hotel helped us to book reliable taxi (Joseph) with fair price and a good tour operator (Steve) for game drives. Definitely worth it.

The size of the property was very spacious, beyond our expectations and the management team were exceptionally helpful.

I was simply perfect ! Professional and helpful staff. Magnificent house, very well located, close the national park.

We loved the open plan dining and kitchen and the very helpful Jane, the property manager. The place was clean and welcoming, even though remote. I would definitely stay here again.

The water pressure was very low but we managed!

The house was very spacious and luxurious. It was spotless and had all the modern facilities that make a holiday that extra bit special. We were looked after by Gideon who went out of his way to make us feel welcome.

The only issue was the lack of sufficient cooling in the living room. The heat in Voi is extremely hot and humid and unfortunately the fan didn’t help cool the room. It meant I could not relax as much as I’d like to. Thankfully, the bedrooms had air conditioning, which helped.

Modern apartment, nicely done with all amenities. Comfy beds, with a/c, Fully functional kitchen, internet wifi, flats screen TV, lovely sitting area. I loved the high roof concept, really great. Airy feel. And my kids enjoyed playing ball and badminton on the outer yard. Good space.

Access road wasn't too good, especially when it rains

Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Beds had mosquito nets.

Access was along a dirt road that had suffered erosion in the recent rains. There were a lot of flying insects.

I liked the serene quiet surroundings and the fresh air away from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi

The road is very poor, and would be very risky if it rains and you need to leave

The house is spacious and somewhat clean

The place was noisy Fundis working overnight upstairs could not sleep!

We had an excellent three-day, two-night stay at Illala. Despite checking in late, Jane patiently waited for us, and her communication was excellent throughout our stay. Additionally, they recommended an excellent local tour company, Msherembe Safari and Travels, for a half-day trip costing only 13,000 KSH. We also had Mtalaki, a local taxi driver, who was kind enough to pick us up, drop us off, and wait while we bought groceries. I would definitely stay at Illala again on my next trip to Tsavo East National Park, which is just a 4-minute drive from Illala to the main gate.

The road is bad which i understand it’s not Ilala’s responsibility.
