I would suggest an option of more subtle lighting in the bedroom, maybe the bedside lights? A very small gripe after a really fantastic short break.

The location is perfect, right on the beach. The entire staff team was friendly, welcoming, and professional. Excellent breakfast.

More breakfast options - same thing each day. Beaches were covered with sea grass but also lots of plastic. Need to clean it more often.

Aug 2025: Price was pretty good - bkfast and night a little over $105/night. Rooms were A/C. Could exchange USD easily - and pretty good rate. Easy to access transportation - tuk-tuk or taxi from front desk - into town, but close enough to get in 10,000 steps and still get to shopping, restaurants, etc. Grocery store - Blue Marmelade in Blue Moon Mall - 10 minute walk from complex. Most tuk-tuks were 400-500ksh/ride. Seats three easily, but short rides took four if someone sits on a lap. Poolside towels were available. LOTS of souviners in market huts within a 10 minute beach walk.

It is beautifully and carefully organized. There is privacy and space to relax outside. The pool is by far, the cleanest and nicest pool I’ve ever enjoyed (and I much prefer the ocean). Beach is steps away. Having a PADI shop onsite is an outstanding bonus. Restaurant is clean and the food is nice. But: The BEST, the TREASURE of staying at Ocean Sports, is the STAFF! I’ve never been treated so wonderfully and felt so taken care of and yet, my privacy also respected. Absolutely everyone - gardeners and maintenance staff, guest reception and hotel hospitality, restaurant and pool - EVERYONE smiled and checked to be sure I had everything I needed or asked if there was anything I didn’t have that I wanted. Joachim, Jonathan, Daniel - thank you!! Thank you to the bar staff for making excellent cocktails and to the serving staff for helping to make the dining experience sweet and ensuring I had a carafe of fresh coffee to bring to my room every morning! I really had such a great visit. I hope I can return again one day. Thank you, to ALL at Ocean Sports!

Amazing place. It feels like a magic garden: full of beautiful trees and flowers. There’s a swimming pool right above the ocean. Everything is really clean, the room is really nice, breakfast is good, we just had one dinner and it was good (but if you want to try swahili fish dishes go in the center of Watamu, where the T junction is: it’s great!). We really enjoyed our stay, the whole staff is great and helpful at any time. The wifi wasn’t working in our room (probably one of the farthest from the reception), but in the common areas and garden it works perfectly. You can easily find a tuk tuk or a motorcycle at the gate ready to pick you up. Thank you, We’ll be back for sure, hopefully soon.

Legendary place that stands up to it's reputation. Nearly immaculate throughout the site. Lots of staff to attend to your needs. Fabulous room and near perfect bar area. Really enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave.

The place was incredibly spacious, spotless, and comfortable. While there are some older cottages on the property, I was lucky to stay in one of the newer ones — and it was absolutely beautiful. Thoughtfully designed, modern, and serene — it felt like the perfect blend of charm and comfort.

The charming, slightly old-style atmosphere. The location overlooking the ocean. The pool, also facing the ocean and incredibly large. The impeccable cleanliness. The extremely friendly staff. The excellent food, both at breakfast and dinner.

We initially had sheets that were mixed polyester and cotton - too hot for the coast but they were changed to cotton on request

So this is one of our favourite places that we return to over and over again. It has the most gorgeous setting with large open areas where you can spend the day in a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff are fabulous and do all they can to make sure everything is great.

There were some ants in the bathroom but once we told staff they sorted it out promptly.

This was a great place to stay. First of all the atmosphere in the bar was nice, they had the football final on, the food was great (both breakfast and lunch) The waiter Ray went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time, and so did Joseph. The beds were very spacious and the room was clean, with aircon working fine, the pool was also nice. I would recommend it for people to visit if they are in Watamu
