Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe staff were exceptional. The location was fabulous- AWAY from hustle of central Nairobi. The gardens are stunning. Beds are super comfy. Food is decent too! A homely feel away from home.

United KingdomLovely garden. We relaxed after our flight and before going on safari in Amboseli. Quiet location about 40 minute drive from airport. Worth checking your route out of Nairobi as we had to go back past airport in busy city traffic.

United KingdomWeather was unusually cold in Nairobi during our stay and the cottage had very little insulation so it was very cold at night.

United StatesIt did seem a little empty at times, which is great if you want the place all to yourself, but not if you want to meet other people and to stay somewhere that is more lively. Location was not the best either but Karen is pretty spread out in general.
Breakfast was fantastic. The outdoor area was beautiful. Felt very safe.

BelgiumAfter a day in the buzzing city of Nairobi, Drexel House is like stepping into a peaceful oasis. The moment we arrived, we felt the tranquility wash over us, birds singing, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves, and the chaos of the city fading into the background. I was traveling with my 6-year-old son, and he summed it up best: “The boss is nice, the girls too. The fruit juice was yummy. Good food. Sleeping in bed was fun. Waking up was fun too. I like the house and also inside. Tasty ice cream. We could chill. I swam from one side to the other.” Honestly, I couldn’t have put it better myself! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, especially to my son. It’s rare to find a place that feels so genuine, where hospitality isn’t just a job but a natural way of being. The house itself is stylish, comfortable, and just a short drive from Nairobi. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat while exploring the city, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended!

United StatesIt was kind of out of the way, but worth it because it was so nice to come back to.
Drexel House is one of the nicest, most comfortable hotels I have ever stayed at! The property is gorgeous. The staff is amazing-so eager to please. Dan, the owner, is so friendly and pleasant that he made us feel completely at home. Diana is wonderful, as were Victor, Noreen and Betty. Breakfasts were delicious. I would not think twice about staying there again, or recommending it to anyone looking for a place to stay near Nairobi.

United Arab EmiratesDrexel House was very welcoming and its location in Karen is great - an oasis of calm in a busy city. As soon as you enter the gates, the noise of the city seems far away, and you feel relaxed and peaceful. The gardens are wonderful and we enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast. The breakfast options were great, and the team was very helpful in preparing snacks for us when we arrived late at night. Jeremy is super helpful, proactive and friendly, and made our stay very comfortable. We left a personal item behind in our room, and he was very solicitous in helping us retrieve it. We will definitely come back when we are next in Nairobi.

United StatesNothing much- the short road in from the main is rough, worth noting.
The Drexel House is located in a very quiet area surrounded by trees and birds, with a nice lawn and clean main lodge with surrounding cabins. Very comfortable with a pool! Jeremy and his team of staff were the highlight - making us feel very welcome and attending to all our requests. Good value too.
