Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaEvergreen Guesthouse in Karakol was honestly one of the best places I have stayed during my numerous travels. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming—just one of those people who makes you feel right at home straight away. The free breakfast was amazing, super fresh and filling, and way better than I expected. It was a treat to eat three different home-made jams with Russian pancakes. Plus, I was also able to do my laundry for free, which was such a nice surprise and super helpful after being on the road for a while. Just a really cozy, thoughtful place with great vibes all around. And if you like cats then you are for a treat. They are super friendly and wonderful around kids.

AustraliaLocation was a few km's from town, so taxis were required all the time.
This was a trip of two halves. A friend and I stayed before and after our Ala Kool Lake hike, storing our luggage here for the few days we were away. Upon arrival for part 1 of our stay the owner was super lovely. She showed us around, explained everything and offered to help with our onward travel and booked a taxi for us to commence our hike. The room was fantastic, bathrooms impeccably clean, and overall the experience was lovely. Notably, she was headed away for the weekend, so wasn't there for when we returned. Upon our return, it first it seemed like an inconvenience that we wanted to check-in. The lady who is there to clean and cook breakfast etc was actually napping on one our our beds when we arrived! She was awoken by a man who let us in, then set about readying our room. Once we got into our room we noticed the bathrooms hadn't been cleaned, they had run out of soap and toilet paper and bins were overflowing. This remained the case all day and most of the next! Heating was kept off (despite it being on when we had been there a few days earlier) which made it hard to dry clothes (in much need of a wash after the hike), and made it chilly at night. Interestingly the owner returned the next day, and when we arrived back after a day out we noticed bathrooms were once again cleaned and things were back to normal. I presume that the issue was the boss being away meant other staff had little care factor, which is such a shame as it reflects poorly overall on the experience. If this place was a few block closer to town I would rate it 10 stars; but if the woman working there was on her own, it would drop to 6.

GermanyIt is a loong walk to and from the center, and the buses only compensate so much. No restaurants nearby. Pity that the 3rd toilet didn’t have a sink for washing hands which in effect reduces the number of shared bathrooms to 2 (so waiting times may occur).
Very friendly owners. Breakfast was tasty. Washing machine available. Room was clean, bed comfortable. Common room was comfortable, with fridge and microwave, and always tea/hot water. Internet worked fine.

BelgiumA little bit further away from city center. We had to take our car to go out for dinner.
Nice home with 4 or 5 rooms and 2 shared bathrooms. Nicely decorated, comfortable. Nice gardens with a lot of trees full of fruit. We could pick whatever we liked. Breakfast was OK. Good English by some of the ladies there. Very clean, nice shared bathrooms. Perfect for a short stay in Karakol between camping adventures.

RussiaVery cozy hotel. Wonderful little garden. The 2 showers plus toilet are shared, but the furnishings are spotless and there are no complaints about the flush in the toilets (a common problem in Kyrgyzstan). The downside is the rather spartan breakfast menu, but within walking distance is the Lighthouse Cafe with an excellent selection of modern fusion cuisine. There is also a large supermarket across nearby park. Unfortunately the sauna was not available in July, if it is important to you -- check in advance. Laundry facilities are not listed on the website, but the landlady said they were available (I didn't use them).

AustraliaThe staff serving breakfast and the breakfast did not add to an otherwise pleasant stay. It is a long walk to the centre of Karakol so a taxi is bes for a meal, but this is a minor inconvenience
A nice guesthouse for a stay in Karakol. Our room was spacious and bright. We had no problem with the shared bathroom. Our host was friendly and helpful. A sunny courtyard adjoins the yard with fruit trees which adds a nice touch. The breakfast was okay.

IrelandTwo showers are shared by around 8 people which can lead to queues. There’s a lot of construction on the roads around it, expect detours and frustration with Google maps.
