How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewSimple but great little oasis of calm amongst flora and fauna. Bit out of town but that was fine with us, as easy to get out via tuk tuk. Any was a very helpful hostess.

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed our stay at O’Hamok Family Homestay - the homestay is a little slice of paradise! It’s easy to find, clean, and truly beautiful. Even without air conditioning, the fans kept us cool and we slept well. But bring ear plugs! They also kindly shortened our stay by one night when I accidentally booked the wrong dates! 🙏🏼 The only feedback would be that we had to patch up our mosquito net with plasters as there were a few holes.

Verified reviewWe loved this beautiful homestay. The buildings have all been built by the owner Sam using materials repurposed from his family home in the country. A beautiful garden and plenty of space made it feel like a calm oasis. The room was basic but clean and comfortable and with no plastic waste. The hosts were very welcoming and gave advice freely. We were able to get a free pick up from the homestay by Giant ibis as we booked our onward travel from Battambang to Phnom Penh with Giant ibis. Breakfast was delicious with a lovely view of the fish in the pond and the noise of the cicadas. We ate locally very well and enjoyed a superb cycle tour of the countryside around Battambang with a local social enterprise Soksabike. We will look back on this as a highlight of our journey around Cambodia.

Verified reviewLove the traditional homestay feel andd 💬 Ng to owners Any and Sam.
Not a criticism just advice for improved experience. We thought breakfast could be improved and better value with the addition of muesli and yoghurt to go with the lovely fruit. That said if you knew in advance or staying linger there are plenty facilities and fridge to ring your own.

Verified reviewOur wooden bungalow was charming, clean and functional, the bathroom was basic but it was located upstairs, private and with hot water. The mattress was perfect and the sheets and towels were clean. The shared kitchen is appreciable and you can refill your water bottles for free. Breakfast is plentiful for 3.75 usd half baguette, tea and coffee, homemade jam, fruit and egg. Our hosts welcomed us with a smile, they explained to us how the room and the homestay worked during the stay, they are not intrusive they adapt to travelers. The garden is beautiful with large trees that keep the freshness and a large pond with fish. If you are looking for a homestay with a family and caring welcome you will be in the right place. On the other hand, if you are more used to resorts or boutique hotels this place will not be for you.

Verified reviewKind woman, let us feed the fish
They locked us in at night until we tried to leave in the AM and hand to find the owner. Its a fire Hazzard and totally inconvenient. Way to hot in our room, ac didn't really work. Fridge didn't work. Sheets were very old/thread bare and dingy. Rooms with mosquito nets had holes/nets need replacing. Generally everything needs a deep clean and update.
We are sorry that your stay with us went so badly. But it is partly your fault because as soon as I confirmed your reservation, I sent you a message in which I mentioned the rules of the house and the services we offer so you had the information that we lock the main gate at night for the safety of our guests. In addition, if there had been a fire, there is more than 1000m² of garden to keep you safe. I'm surprised that you found the sheets dirty and worn in both rooms because the cleanliness and maintenance of our rooms is our priority. Following your comment, I had the air conditioning checked and it works well. And the two refrigerators work very well too. As for the mosquito net of the small bed, there was indeed a small hole and we changed it. As for the sheets, on the other hand, it was me who took them off the bed to clean them and I didn't notice the dirt and wear. My wife and I are very open-minded people and if you had courage to come and see us to show us all these problems we could have changed the sheets and mosquito net and explained to you how the air conditioning or the fridge worked. Why did you stay 2 nights, if from the first night it was so catastrophic, you had the possibility to come and see me and leave especially since when you were feeding the fish I was right nearby.

Verified reviewA French chambre d'hotes in the outskirts of Battambang. Great welcome, wonderful simple accommodation, lovely jungle garden, breakfast with eggs from their own chickens. $1.50 for a grab tuktuk into town. Battambang is really worth visiting, quiet but with a smattering of good restaurants, bars and the obligatory street food. Much of the centre retains its colonial architecture and scores highly on character and ambiance. Well worth the detour
I liked everything very much

Verified reviewThe room was wonderfull and comfortabel, and nice and cool. The real joy is in the beautiful garden and the welcoming family though. Very relaxing place to just be. Wished I could have stayes longer!
Only one little thing.. The steps towards my room felt more like a ladder than stairs. It comes with a traditional house. Found them a bit scary as I have a malfunctioning knee. If you have mobility issues or a small child you should get in touch with the family and ask for a room that is easier accessible.

Verified reviewThe owners are incredibly kind and generous, making you feel like part of their family. I joined a one-day tour with Sarom, and it was the absolute highlight of my trip. He also gave me plenty of helpful advice and even arranged my visit to the bat cave as well as my bus to Siem Reap. The property is nestled in the heart of the jungle, and I truly cherished the unique experience. The breakfast, while simple, is tasty and reasonably priced, with the stunning view adding so much to the overall enjoyment. I hope to return soon!
It didn’t bother me personally, but this might not be the best place for you if: • You’re not a fan of being close to nature, as you’ll likely hear animals moving around near the bungalow. • You’re a light sleeper—on weekends, weddings can start as early as 5 a.m., so I’d recommend bringing earplugs.

Verified reviewThe place is a bit outside of town which is good and very lush and green. The owners are very kind and helpful and have a very good knowledge of the surrounding region.
The whole place would need some maintenance. Charging your phone is extremely difficult due to very old plugs. Generally the facilities are a little worn down. Watch your head when walking around. The mattress was very hard. The helmet for the scooter was broken and didn't get fixed or replaced although we asked for it.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We try to take care of our electrical installation because our houses are made of wood and the safety of our guests is our priority. But to inform our future guests, the problem ultimately didn't come from our installation but from your electrical adapter which was defective. In fact, one of our hosts lent you hers to recharge your computer and it worked correctly. For the motorcycle helmet, I apologize, I forgot to give you another one because I was focused on your electrical problem and I forgot to change it for you. But you could have come to see me to change it and tell me on the day of your departure I would have apologized to you. For the maintenance of the premises, I take your feedback into account, at the moment, I am alone to manage because my cleaning lady is absent but we are going to recruit a replacement. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and value your feedback as we strive to improve our services. Sarom SAM

Verified reviewIt's a place where you can relax during the day with a nice view from our terrace. You'll want a motorbike cause it's far from the city to go by walking. We were expecting more by the reviews we read here.
The outside areas and the kitchen where very dirty, our bedroom and bathroom were ok. The WiFi didn't worked well. We spent 2 nights and both of them had very noisy neighbours, party electronic music style.

Verified reviewThe house, the nature around and still close to the city, the hospitality of the family, plenty of space to relax or work, fast internet, amazing tour with Sam... you name it. This homestay has everything and much more. In Battambang look no further and choose this homestay. Best ever.

Verified reviewSpecial place, with a beautiful jungle garden. It is a great place for relaxing and for planning trips with tuk tuk or motorbike around the Battambang. Traditional houses, breakfast with garden view, puppy Zuma, very friendly family - it is the best combination for starting our traveling in Cambodia. Our children love the place too.
