We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandNot suitable for people with mobility needs. Sleeping on the floor is not for everyone so be aware of this. It does not appear on Naver maps so put in The N Hotel which is on the corner if you are booking an Uber or transfer from the airport.
The location was great and it was a traditional Hanok as promised. The host was so lovely and kind. She brought us to the local convenience store to buy our T cards and to a local fried chicken restaurant where she ordered for us before leaving us. Most people do not speak English in South Korea so google translate is vital.

SingaporeNothing, it was all as described and better.
The host Mrs Shin was wonderful. She communicated well despite not having a native grasp of English and her sincere thoughtfulness in checking us in and settling us down and showing us the rooms, switches etc cannot be understated. She even asked us about our plans and made great recommendations and planned a route for us. On a rainy day, she texted to remind us where umbrellas were. The location itself is fantastic because it is central to other attractions, and the house is beautiful and historical. It is right near a convenience store, a lot of great restaurants, a new leather themed dessert cafe bar Gach that we believe will be the next big thing, and in a historic leather and textile town. We even bought genuine leather belts just the street across from the house and the elderly folks that we met in Dongmyo are so sweet and friendly. This is not a touristic area at all, but one where you can really observe living. The facilities are not new but incredibly well-maintained, cosy, and all worked well. We really enjoyed sleeping with the mattresses and experiencing a slice of old-school, slow living. The courtyard is perfect for photos and has a lovely persimmon tree (the namesake of this house!) where we sat and enjoyed meals and conversations. If price was more affordable for us, we would have wanted to stay at least a week and not just two nights. If you manage to book this place, I think an open-hearted traveller type won’t regret it. It is a home away from home.

United KingdomThe hostel's madam was extremely kind and welcomed us warmly despite our late check-in. Thanks to her, we had a very good trip. It was a memorable trip to Korea. The area has a down-to-earth atmosphere, there are convenience stores and 24-hour restaurants nearby, and it's about a 7-minute walk from the station. It's perfect.

Beautiful property. True to the pictures and was exactly like what we had envisioned. The place, although vintage, was kept clean with modern appliances - air fryer, induction cooker, modern toilet bowl, heated flooring etc. Location was good also. And the response from the staff was also good - super responsive and helpful.

MalaysiaThe house is spacious and really comfortable for the 3 of us. The owner was really kind, and we loved the mandarin oranges she left for us. The house is around 7 minutes' walk to Emart Hypermarket Cheongyecheon (which was really convenient for us to buy groceries). The area was really quiet at night. It was as if you were not in Seoul. It was easy to find the place from "동묘앞" station. It was also easy getting to Gwangjang Market and Jongmyo shrine by bus (I do think it would be possible to walk to both places, but it was too cold 🥶). We were really happy that we spent 2 nights here. On our last day, we got to see snowfall. Despite being a hanok, there's bidet at the toilet which was really convenient for us. I hope I can experience another season at this hanok.

PhilippinesMy family and I really liked the open courtyard of the sihwadang. The space was really big even for 5 people + large luggages. The beds were comfortable and the amenities were complete. It was also close to accessible stations and the Dongmyo Flea Market which was really the best part. The owner was also very kind to meet us during check-in and help us with our bags. She gave us dried persimmons to try too! I could not find any fault in this place. It made our stay in Seoul very memorable and comfortable.

The host greeted and picked us up from the drop off point on our arrival and let us check in early. She was very kind and enthusiastic in sharing activities we could do on our arrival and gave us a tour of the hanok. We enjoyed staying at the hanok, and were surprised that inside the hanok and the courtyard how peaceful it was as the accomodation is located right in the middle of many shops and businesses. The heating was very good - maybe a tad too good. But it was on this trip that we had the lowest recorded temperature and we were never cold once. The futon and blankets were very cozy and comfortable. At the end of our trip, they offered to look after our luggage until we were leaving for the airport and allowed us to check out a little bit later. She kindly walked us to the bus stop as well to send us off to airport. Overall, a great way to end our Korea trip. We won't forget your kindness and we can look back at our stay with you with fond memories of our trip.

RussiaThe market can be pretty busy. The lock is only on the main gates. The heating will probably not be strong enough in the winter, but can't say for sure. In general, not much to complain about.
I enjoyed my staying in this hanok hotel. It's located in the market and there are some little hotels around. It was easy to find the hotel. The owner is a very friendly and helpful Korean woman, who knows English quite enough to communicate. She showed me around the house and also offered some snacks and beer. The hanok itself is pretty charming. It has a bed on the floor with heating. In the bathroom there is a modern toilet and simple shower. The place was quite clean, and there was a hair dryer. No noise at the night. Nice location to go from to the City Wall.

I think it's my first 10/10 review. My friends and I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming traditional Korean house in Seoul for a week, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every possible way. From the warm ambiance to the incredible hospitality of our host, this stay became the highlight of our trip. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the incredibly kind and welcoming lady who served as our host. From the get-go, she went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Not only did she provide us with detailed tips on how to reach her place (which proved to be immensely helpful for both us and the taxi driver), but she also surprised us with an array of delightful sweets and thoughtful gifts that instantly set the tone for a wonderful stay. The traditional Korean house itself was a masterpiece of architecture, seamlessly blending the charm of the past with modern comfort. The interior was adorned with traditional furnishings, creating an authentic atmosphere that allowed us to immerse ourselves in Korean culture. There are two toilets available, one has only a toilet seat and a sink. Despite visiting in December, when temperatures in Seoul can drop to around 0 degrees Celsius, the traditional Korean house proved to be a cozy sanctuary. The efficient heating system kept us warm throughout our stay, allowing us to enjoy the traditional experience without any discomfort. One of the highlights of our stay was the convenient location of the house. A mere 8-minute walk led us to the metro station, providing easy access to all the major attractions in Seoul. This made our daily explorations hassle-free, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the vibrant city life while having a peaceful retreat to return to at the end of the day. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the genuine warmth and hospitality of our host.
