How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewA nice clean apartment, seems newly renovated. Absolute steal for what I've paid and definitely the best place I've slept in in Almaty. So cozy and comfortable! Also, they let us keep the bags in the reception even after checkout.
The lady at the reception desk does not speak English but she's an angel truly.

Verified reviewThe place is very clean, the cleaning lady cleans the whole property daily. The breakfast is simple but quite nice and there's a decent amount of options. The guests are mostly older and local, and there isn't a big social vibe, but I did have some lovely and pleasant conversations. The location is far from most of the attractions and a bit far from public transportation, but it's very walkable to many supermarkets and restaurants, which is nice. It's very safe, the neighborhood seems pretty nice, and the only way to get into the hostel is to open the door from the inside. This can be a bit awkward if you get back late at night though, and have to wake someone up to let you in.
The place is very small, and seems to be pretty booked up, even during slow season. It's not the kind of hostel where you'll ever catch the bathroom to yourself, and there was often a bit of a traffic jam to get to your locker/storage space. The staff is constantly around, and I felt at times they were watching everything I did to make sure I did it right. I think they might check the cameras as well, because at times they would coincidentally walk into the room to fix something right after I had an issue with it. You do kind of feel like you're constantly in the way of others, and if you're there past breakfast you WILL be in the way of the cleaning lady. This makes it not the best place to hang out during the day, or to work, but luckily there are some nice coffee shops nearby. Overall, it's nice but definitely not your typical traveler's hostel. I would recommend this place to an older guest who's looking for somewhere quiet, and planning to be gone most of the day.

Verified reviewBreakfast is fantastic! Self service which means somewhat free flow and eat at your own time own target instead of host needing to check what time for breakfast for most other hostel or guesthouses I have stayed in. Bed is clean and comfortable. Being ladies only hostel does make it more comfortable. I like the many toilet and shower cubicles - it feels less worrying in not having to wait to use them when needed. Location is okay, some amenities nearby. Close to fastfood - an equivalent of MacDonalds in Almaty.
Hostel is hardly noticeable somewhat half a floor below street level. The entrance is quite cramp and at certain times of the day the door of the entrance is locked so entering in or going out needs go through a small gap at the side. Pricier compared to most hostel or capsule hotel. I didn't like it that left baggage is chargeable at 1000KZT per day, which makes it expensive when I am 2 or more days away on a tour to pay baggage storage.

Verified reviewI loved having my own capsule - especially since I was there for 5 days. Yet the time flew by! The breakfast was great. The facility was clean. The staff was helpful. And it was so quiet, too - I felt very comfortable in this space and I am so glad they had air conditioning and a water filter. The free tea and coffee was a blessing, too - I needed the extra caffeine boost one afternoon! When I first arrived, it took me a few moments to realize that the property is located on the lower level of the building, just below street level.
Jennifer , thank you for your nice review🙏 We look forward to seeing you again 💐

Verified reviewTomiris is the best hostel I've stayed at. It's incredibly clean, is safe for solo travellers, is close to the city centre, and has polite and helpful staff. The capsules are pretty big - you don't feel claustrophobic and you have privacy. The staff doesn't speak English but you can manage with Google Translate. I was there for 14 days and I loved every single day.

Verified reviewThe location was great - accessible by cab, near the river, and there was a nearby supermarket and some cafes and restaurants. Staff were really nice, on my last day they allowed me to relax in the property while waiting for my evening flight. Though the staff couldn't speak English, she was responsive and helpful at all times. We had the separate room, and it was clean and had everything we needed. Simple but complete. Slept well, wasnt that noisy at all even if the room was at street level. Area feels safe enough too. Since it's a hostel for ladies, we also felt very safe.
Thank you for your feedback and for choosing us. We well be glad to see you again.

Verified reviewOne of the best hostels I've stayed at. Was able to sit up straight in the bed, which is rare. The bed frame was built into the wall, so it didn't shake when people climbed on/off. Bathrooms very clean, towel and bedding provided, lockers large with plenty of space for a medium suitcase. Breakfast was simple but yummy, provided 8-10am, and snacks also left in the kitchen. Easy access to kettle, microwave and fridge. Hostel spoke English.
We were shushed in the sleeping room in the morning, but on the other hand it was very noisy through the night, which seemed a bit incoherent. Toilet stalls are small (knees hit the door).

Verified reviewClean and organized
The hostel was clean and comfortable but lacked warmth and hospitality. Communication was poor, and as a foreign traveler, I felt unwelcome. After a long overnight flight, I wasn’t even allowed to rest in the common area before check in time, despite the hostel being empty. I had planned to stay longer but left early—wouldn’t recommend for those seeking a welcoming experience.
Good evening. Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that this happened, but for an early check-in it was necessary to organize an early check-in, since the standard check-in is at 14:00. Due to the celebration of Nauryz, there are no vacancies in the hostel. Next time, please indicate the correct check-in time.
