If they are busy then sometimes you have to look around for someone if you want drinks/food etc. but they will always be there eventually and very happy to help!

The location and family were amazing. Great sunset view right on the edge of the Mekong. 2 hammonks outside every room and a lovely communal area for chilling and watching river life go by. Food was cooked fresh to order with a great selection. Would definitely come back in a heartbeat, wouldn't look at anything else on Don Det

We were able to get breakfast and lunch, rent bikes and buy water bottles - while modest, the room has all the necessary comfort: hot shower with good pressure, A/C and fan, large bed with comfy pillows, many electric plugs, and several ways to hang clothes. - The view and environment was relaxing, very scenic

Sometimes the bathroom had a bad smell, but this is not uncommon in Laos. Definitely not because it was not clean because everything was spotless!

Very kind people who run the place with the best view on the river for sunset! The bungalows are very clean and comfortable, and the hammocks are great. You can also order food here for a reasonable price. Definitely stay here!

Great homestay with a very kind and attentive family. Working Aircon and fan in the room, great to have the hammocks outside the room and be able to enjoy the great Menkong sunsets from there. This is for you if you want to support the local community and are not too fussed about sleeping too close to nature.

Namknong View is a gem! The owners are super friendly and make you feel right at home. The view over the lake is absolutely beautiful—so peaceful and relaxing. Plus, the food is delicious! A perfect place to unwind and enjoy great hospitality. Highly recommend!

We loved the beautiful views, lovely staff, and the nice cheap food available. The bathroom was a little old but overall the place had a very friendly and relaxed vibe. Hosts were always smiling and happy to help out. Bike rental was also very convenient. 👌

I would call this three-room hostel a step above most. The owners are as sweet as can be. Pricing is in line with other lodging that offers air-conditioning. Meals and smoothies are tasty and fairly priced. The husband-owner took us on a 90-minute boat ride that was very nice and fairly priced.. Lovely guy, safe boater, no English. Overall, a very positive experience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again..

However, it's important to note that this is a stilt house with no noise insulation. Unfortunately, I had the misfortune of a very loud and inconsiderate neighbor, which disrupted the otherwise peaceful experience. With considerate guests, this would be an ideal getaway!

The bed is rock hard, like so many in Laos. There is also zero sound proofing between the three rooms, you can hear everything - but I suspect most bungalows on the island the same. Would still stay again.

Lovely stay in Don Det. Location is great, on the sunset side but away from any noise. Great choices for breakfast and the dinners were good too. Family running the guest house are absolutely lovely. Rooms are basic but clean, have really good aircon and a bathroom with decent hot water. Sunsets are amazing and the restaurant has the best cushions I found on the island
