Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe thoroughly enjoyed it.
A true eco hotel which lives by its name. Very historical and a wonderful location. Lovely villa (Papaya) with plunge pool. Very Comfortable bed and outdoor shower all amongst the rainforest. Hotel based amongst true nature with cocoa, banana, mango, orange and calabash trees. Lovely hummingbirds all around. possums were playing on the roof sat night time. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely fresh meals and drinks. Amazing buildings some over 200 years old, and original cocoa museum with drying trays rolled out. Lovely nature trail walk with incredible views of Petit Piton at the top.

United StatesThe accommodations and property could use a bit more maintenance. There also were events that went on that we didn't realize and would have liked to participate in like a steel drum concert.
Breakfast was good, for lunch the roti was good, the fish was so so. The property was a bit run down but very peaceful in the woods.

United KingdomBeautiful resort surrounded by a lush plantation, we stayed in Angelina cottage which was incredible. The staff were exceptional and so friendly, as was everyone on the island! The resort itself it well positioned, very close to two amazing beaches, Soufriere, botanical gardens and sulphur springs. We had the absolute best time and did not want to leave, it's pretty much Paradise! Thank you for having us Fond Deux 🧡

United StatesDuring our week vacation, my wife and I would definitely put this place at the top of our list. Tucked away in the edge of the rainforest, it’s still conveniently located to most major attractions, the beach, restaurants, etc. but you feel like you’re immersed in the depths of the jungle. Being on an actively working chocolate plantation was really cool. The staff was exceptional and accommodating to anything that we needed. The restaurant had some of the best food we ate while in St. Lucia. Dora waited on us and took great care of us while we were there. Benjamin was also there for anything we needed and was always there with a helping hand. We stayed in the Mango Villa up at the top of the hill overlooking the rainforest. We had our own private swimming pool and outdoor shower. It was amazing. I can’t say enough about this place. Definitely put this on your list. We hope to be back again someday.

United KingdomWhat's not to like? Probably not so suited to young children. Pools are limited and paths in places are steep & uneven.
Great location for R&R. Not a typical resort style hotel. All rooms are cottages set on a lush plantation. Ours had a plunge pool, outdoor shower and very private. Surrounded by the forest & tree tops. Great Birdllife, flora & fauna. Absolutely fabulous. Food was also really good. Buffet breakfast with good choice. Evening meals also well presented and well cooked. Hotel has 19 cottages so maintains an intimate and friendly atmosphere. Reception happy to arrange visits etc & there is a shuttle bus to the beach. Try Paradise beach for a more relaxed carribean vibe.

United KingdomThe lunch and dinner options were a bit limited. We went with very high expectations of the food, but were a tad disappointed.
The outdoor/nature aspect of the location was exceptional. The nature trails and hike to see the Piton was lovely. You can never run out of things to do at the resort. Also loved that everyone had their own cabin semi-secluded cabin.

United KingdomTaxis are very expensive - was quoted $60 for a 10 min round trip. Without a car it becomes very expensive to do any sightseeing. Pool okay but not amazing, you wouldn't want to spend all day by the pool.
The cottage was spacious and really unique! Outdoor shower was a fun addition. Amazing view of the jungle. Dinner was tasty and cheaper than other hotel restaurants. Hike on site to see the view of the piton was amazing! Able to get a free shuttle bus to see sugar beach which was my favourite beach on the trip.

United StatesPretty isolated as is dictated the nature of the geography. Soufriere was okay, but not spectacular.
Unique place amid the lush growth of cacao.trees with cottages plunked into the hills. Made chocolate bars from scratch-tour was overpriced, but a good experience. Free shuttle to the spectacular Sugar beach.

SwedenEverything in and around Soufriere is very pricy! Getting anywhere, eating, tours etc are all overpriced for what you get, but there's unfortunately no way around it. Due to a misunderstanding Fond Doux also forgot about our transfer from Castries which made us have to wait in limbo for a few hours.
Great place to spend a few nights. It's close to everything you'll want to do and the resort is great to spend time at as well. The pools, the view point, the chocolate tour and the food. Very nice staff! Our cottage was awesome! Right in the rainforest, all the sounds and animals (in and out of the cottage), the outdoor shower!

CanadaIt wasn't stated that the 1br cottages with pool required quite a climb and some awkward stairs. It was beautiful to be up in the hills, but it would have been nice to know about access. Could have used more variety on the Dinner menu.
Front desk service was exceptional. They helped organize rides and excursions. Any issues we had were addressed right away. The Thursday evening reception was lovely! Getting to meet the owners and other guests made it feel like we were visiting with family. Selection at the breakfast buffet was nice. Loved how they had local foods - the bread and plantain were awesome, as was the ample fresh coconut water! Also loved the Chocolate experience and the on-site Nature Walk - our guide was charming and funny! The Pitons hike on-site was also great albeit challenging for those not used to climbing, worth it for the gorgeous lookout.

United StatesOur room needed a deep cleaning. There was quite a bit of dust and cobwebs in the bathroom, We had water issues - either there was no hot water or, on one, day, no water at all. It took 3 days, but we were finally moved. However, the new cottage was so high up, that I stopped going to breakfast because I did not want to climb all of the stairs needed to get there. We asked if we could go back to Mango and were told it was now occupied. I do not know if they ever fixed the water issue. Although we saw the owners at the property each day, they never introduced themselves to us. This is a small place, so someone should have talked to use about the problems we had. If the owners do not want to handle customer service, they they need to hire a manager who can. Even with no problems, a manager could personalize the experience of staying at Fond Doux. We were told that the website was 2 years old and not updated. There is no spa. There is no membership. The free shuttle that brings you to Sugar Beach drops you at the top of the long walk down where you then have to spend $75 per chair. The website states: Free beach chairs are available at Sugar Beach. The Creole Pot is only used for the breakfast. That the cottages are restored is wonderful, but over time, fixes have been done by using plywood patches in the bathrooms.
The staff are terrific and the grounds are gorgeous. The cottages are so cute! The breakfast is very good. Jenny, from the front desk was our "go to" person. She should be made the manager of Fond Doux. The location of Fond Doux is perfect for doing all of the activities in the south. It was very close to Malgretoute Beach, a good beach for snorkeling. The hotel there, the Paradise Hotel. has a restaurant and people to bring you doo and drinks to your $15 chairs.

United KingdomThere was a service charge automatically imposed on each of the nightly rate. Service is what a hotel is about, so I don't think it was a fair charge, so we ended up paying a much higher overall bill. Not sure about the customs here but when staying at a 5-star resort in the first part of our St Lucia holiday, there was no such charge. On the last night, there was a rat running through our room, luckily service staff came with some poison. It did shadow my stay a little but I guess this is all being part of being close to the nature
natural surroundings - feeling being part of a botanical garden is great. The owners are friendly and organized a party with wine etc too, which was a great way to bring all the guests together with some wonderful folk music and socializing.

United StatesI would suggest there be 2 pick up times for the beach shuttle -- we would have loved to stay longer. My other suggestion is that the menu be rotated more frequently. The staff were fabulous, and they were very attentive and took care to ask us if we had any allergies. The menu was just very limited, was the same on both Friday and Sunday night, the portions were small, and it was expensive.
Fond Doux is a really special place and you feel as though you're a part of St. Lucian history. It has a mature fruit and cocoa trees and old-style buildings. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the cocoa tea (try it!!) It is a great value, especially with the shuttle to the beach, which we used everyday. I would recommend renting a car or looking on google for a taxi if you want to explore anything around Fond Doux. You can walk to the Petite Paul Nature Trail/Hike though, which I recommend for more views of the Pitons. One really special thing is that the restaurants use fruit from their own garden. I would suggest Fond Doux advertise this more and even put on the dinner menu what comes from the garden -- this is really special and really makes it feel like you're staying at an eco-resort :)

United Statesnot really about the hotel itself, but I was surprised to learn that you're required to hire a guide to climb the Pitons, and it is not cheap. Just something to be aware of, going in.
The location is super unique, fantastic if you're looking for something different from a typical beach stay. Beautiful trees, secluded cottages. Pitons, sulphur baths, and sugar beach all short drives away. The price is also way cheaper than those beach resorts. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

United KingdomWe absolutely loved our stay at Fond Doux. The staff and food were incredible. Our cottage was spacious and located in the middle of the rainforest. What an experience for the kids! We made our own chocolate and saw fire flies in the evening. Fond Doux is well located just a few minutes outside Soufriere, the mud volcano and very close to Sugar Beach (Sugar Beach is one of the best places to snorkel in St Lucia). A great base to explore the south of St Lucia. A special mention to everyone working there! They were incredible and always went out of their way to make our stay extra special.

United StatesOur cottage had few things requiring attention (faucet, bed net of one of the beds) and others being outdated (cooking fires, oven). Similarly, certain facilities in the resort are a bit "unrefined", like the gym or the pools. In some way though this reflects the soul of this resort, of the owner and the local culture. If you appreciate this aspect, like we did, you will be awed by this resort. If you expect a resort with everything impeccable, this might not be the experience you are looking for.
The location of this resort is very unique and exceptional: it is immersed in St Lucia tropical forest with a dominance of fruit trees (cacao, mangos, bananas). The architecture of the resort is authentic with a colonial style. Staff is super nice, friendly and professional. Meals, starting from the included breakfast buffet, are abundant and super good.
