Sometimes the service was very slow. There seemed to be no rush with the staff - for example we waited over 30 mins for a drink in the pool after asking 3 times. Nevertheless, they were still friendly and helpful.

The hotel exceeded our expectations and we absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel itself is lovely and the location right next to the lake was perfect. We were lucky enough to get upgraded for free and our room was lovely, spacious and clean. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

I absolutely loved everything about my stay at Amaya Lake! Being closer to nature really refreshed me, especially during these hot days. The food was absolutely delicious with a good variety to choose from. Can’t wait to visit again!

Beautiful, comfortable rooms and facilities. Restaurant food was wonderful and fresh. The hotel’s surroundings are next to Dambulla lake and forest. Nature everywhere and very peaceful. The pool was great and our children really enjoyed themselves. Special thanks to Suraj for making my family’s stay memorable and special.

The location is stunning. Situated on a lake with lots of wildlife around, birds , monkeys etc. The property despite being 25 years old is well maintained. The family room was exceptionally big and very clean. Food was excellent with plenty of options all in very good quality.

Food - deserts need an upgrade from mousse based. Poolside service - lacked pool side service to order towels, food and drink - if you have someone there you could make a lot of money - missed opportunity

Amazing room, beautiful pool with lakeside view and an amazing team that provided top tier service! I would highly recommend staying in this hotel, particularly the signature suite as we had a lovely balcony as well. The team couldn’t have done more for us, and it was super easy to visit Lions rock from the hotel!

We were in room 70, and there was no view. Outside seating wasn’t really suitable.

Location was superb 👌 Fantastic wildlife, thanks for the warning regarding the morning monkeys! Buffet dinner has some many options, I had to walk round a few times to make my choice! And the desserts! Wow!

Can get busy and food not replenished fast enough after large groups. Some restaurant staff were helpful but laying tables was haphazard and a curious reserving of prime tables for guests “who were staying 9 nights” was very annoying- we never saw them (do they pay more and so entitled to better treatment? Are 3 night guests less important?) . Allow extra time for calling buggies as during busy or quiet times it may take longer. The second pool only has 6 beds! More are needed there.

A large hotel mainly catering to large tour groups . The grounds are immaculately kept, directly on the side of the lake. Rooms are very spread out in the beautiful grounds but buggies transport you. You have to order bacon - it’s delicious & delivered to your table but nobody tells you that. Our room and bathroom was beautiful, very clean . The second pool is very quiet .

Could have done with some extra buggies...also from the images on site of the room view we got no balcony... But managed and enjoyed the stay. Areas looked tired but maybe in time it could pick up

I felt that the staff was not adequately trained. They looked confused and were not very hospitable. They need to be trained in proper customer service. No smiles on the faces of the restaurant staff. The egg station forgot my order. Hopper station could have done with some more burners. No accessible rooms. This was a huge problem for older guests.

Loved comfort in the room. I had a quiet, private, triple room. Loved the nature and the location.
