The hotel is surfer-friendly, but it wasn't quite what I had expected. Perhaps this will change in the future, but the hotel did not offer surfboard rentals. Anyway I rented surfboards in the area around the hotel. For beginners, I would recommend commuting to the bay to surf. If you prefer a more out-of-the-way location, this is the place for you.

Staff was amazing. The “private beach” was good for swimming. The room was also good, comfortable, has an air conditioner, a fridge and I think a Mosquito Repellent Diffuser. It is a pretty quiet location except for the ocean sounds.

I was unlucky and the wi-fi didn't work at all, the manager apologized for this, telling me that the hotel uses an expensive tariff, such is the irony.

Loved the location, the view from the room and the view from the dining room. The breakfasts are satisfactory, the staff is friendly and smiling. All my wishes have been granted.

Bed was ok, quite small and pillows were not great. There was no blanket either and as a couple where one gets hotter than the other and has air con on, this created sleep disturbance for the other person. Breakfast wasnt great, not particularly tasty and was still hungry after. Location was terrible. A long walk into the main high road, and no chance of grabbing a tuk tuk along the way as this is in a residential area. It was very difficult for the car to drive into as well and we got stuck on the way in as there were tuk tuks blocking the road.

Lovely beachside hotel, although the beach is small you could sit on it if you wanted to . The pictures are better than the actuality. Not quite what I was expecting and have seen better places for the price since. Shower was hot. Some Issues with the keys when we got there which were sorted but a bit annoying when we arrived. There was a shower to have a quick wash after check out and before a long onwards travel.

This is honestly perfect if you want a well run, uncomplicated place to call home for a surf trip and don't need the party to happen right in your backyard. The whole hotel and rooms are clean, modern, spacious and tastefully furnished. The aircon and bathrooms were in perfect condition. There are multiple WiFi hotspots so that all parts of the property are covered with a reliable, great connection. The reception is always staffed, it is not a problem to check in super early or leave very late. They also booked our airport transfers for us. There are multiple communal areas to hang out, all facing the Ocean that basically breaks directly against the property. The view is super gorgeous. The bar/ restaurants has fresh tropical juices, all sorts of cocktails and offers food. For intermediate surfers: You can surf the spot directly in front of the hotel. It is a reef and you may want your first outing to be with a guide/ surf teacher who knows the spot. But you have this place all to yourself while Weligama beach break is the busiest surf spot we have ever seen in our life. Don't worry about the hotel not being directly in Weligama - it couldnt be easier to catch a tuktuk into town (5min trip, ca. 400 rupees (1,30€). Drivers stop by when you walk along the road and ask if you want to hop in). In return, you get a very private place with zero road or party noise, looking out at a bay that nobody but you and some other guests will use for swimming or surfing. This side of town is popular for those seeing spectacular sunsets from the cliffs. We much prefered staying here over being in the town itself, which can be very noisy. The hotel has it's own private small beach and we did some snorkeling around the bay it looks out at - we saw turtles and plenty of fish along the reef. There is a diving center nearby to rent some snorkeling equipment. We stayed here twice and will definitely return when we come back to Sri Lanka!!

Staff didn't advise me properly where it's best to snorkel from the hotel. Therefore, I hit and cut my foot on some rocks which is why I couldn't go in the ocean properly for the rest of my stay in Sri Lanka. However, the staff provided some plasters as first help. One evening the electricity wasn't working but it was resolved within 2 hours.

Great Srilankian breakfast with ocean view. Huge portion. Direct access to the water to snorkel. However, be careful as it's pretty rocky. View from the room. It has a nice beach to swim and snorkel nearby. It's away from the hustle and noise from Wellingama and Merissa. You can take the bus to get to the city center and Coconut hill etc. I extended my stay from one to three nights as I really liked the place.

Great views overlooking the waves rolling in and the surfers, was very relaxing. The breakfast was simple, but tasty. We had a couple of meals in the evening which were very good. Staff were friendly. It was a 10 - 15 min walk into Weligama, or short tuk tuk ride. We used the hotel as a base to visit Galle, Koggala, Marissa and Matara. All of which were easily accessible by train and bus.

Privacy could be improved for the top floor,as people are passing by the balcony more often than necessary. Owner(s) seem to be living on premises and are very present.

The price/service/location combination is great. Professional staff, very good food and superb views. Small private beach (especially for women and LGBTQ+), but one has to be careful when snorkeling (reef starts 10-15 meeters from water entrance and the water is shallow there, best to enter slightly from the right after the rocks to not damage corals). You can rent the snorkeling equipment there too and the PADI dive center is walking distance.

The location is far from the city and other activities... No easy access to the local transport. Other facilities could be cleaner.

The views were fantastic. Food was good as well. Clean rooms. The staff were cordial and friendly. Good place to stay considering the budgets.

The staff was mostly sitting around, some of them appearing a bit lazy. They were nice but didn't seemed to interested in their guests. The restaurant has a great view but could be decorated so much more nicely!

The best thing about this hotel is the place it is located in. You are right at the beach, you just have to take some steps directly from your hotel room. In the night you hear the ocean roar.

Only downside was the beach, which like many in Sri Lanka, is not the best for swimmers. Strong tides and many rocks make swimming difficult. But bring a few good books and just Chil-lax!

We loved our stay at New Bay View Villa. The location right on the beach with incredible sea views from our room and the restaurant overlooking the water - was idyllic. It is off-the beaten track and isolated, but perfect for a two night stay to just chill and relax after busier beaches like Hiriketiya. Staff was excellent and very accommodating. Food in the restaurant was very good. Short walk to cute Jungle Beach where there is a nice cafe. Beds were very comfortable and large.

Booked ocean Seaview upper floor, but the give us a room with partial Seaview, which was nothing like the picture. Also the AC was not working, we became sick with in 3 hours. Pushed them to change room- changed it to another partial sea view room. They promised to give the room type we have booked next day. Next morning Manager came and said- they won't be giveing the room we have booked for as it was promised ro someone else. we can changecheck outl if we like. After lots of arguments, suddenly he agreed to give us the room. We were surprised why he didn't give us at the beginning. Rest three nights were comfortable stay, but at the check out manager refused to reduce amount for the one night we stayed at lower quality room.
