Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Kingdom- The bathroom (due to design choices) had holes in one wall, which meant that bugs could get inside - you need to make sure the door is always closed which we didn't realise until a couple of days in. -I think the food could be improved at the cafe, we had better breakfasts elsewhere (in terms of value for money, range of choice and quality). -Complicated wifi system with codes, my friend couldn't access it quite a few times though our room was directly above the cafe.
The room was lovely and very comfortable, great shower, lovely spacious balcony. The location was beautiful and very peaceful, a short distance from cute food spots, some bars and Kabalana beach. Some staff were extremely helpful and even went to rescue her phone after the night she lost it.

New ZealandFriendly helpful staff with good vibe and cool cafe with delicious food! Nice room and decor, comfy bed and just out off the hustle but still very close to town. Didn’t realise from the photos but the bathroom has access to outside so keep bathroom shut to prevent mosquitos :)

NetherlandsUnfortunately, we couldn't use the facilities around the pool because they were redoing the garden. I would recommend mentioning this to the guests because it was one of the reasons we booked, so we could hang around the pool. Also, I would maybe include some sort of discount for the guests to have breakfast there. Or increase the room price and have the breakfast included. Besides, it is quite difficult getting around since the hotel is in the middle of nature. We had a phone number of a tuktuk driver, but if he wouldnt have been available it would have been way more difficult getting to the city center.
The location was amazing between the ricefields where you could see the buffalo's chilling. The rooms were amazing, very astatically pleasing. Breakfast was lovely as well.

BelgiumWe felt like the staff wasn't as organised it as friendly ad we had experienced throughout the rest of our journey. We rentes a scooter via the hotel... and we were a bit disappointed: maintenance light was in, no gas in the tank, felt like and old rusty scooter. We originally wanted to rent it for two ways, bit returned it after the first one as it felt a bit unsafe.
Beautiful place! Loved the room & the pool! If you're having a drink by the pool: go for the Hibiscus & Rosemary iced tea that's really good!!

Really lovely independent hotel with loads of attention to detail. Has a cafe at ground floor level serving great brunch. Set in a rural area which has a calm village feel away from the village

Sri LankaThe bed wasn’t comfortable. Would have been satisfied guests if we got a better nights sleep. Also worth noting that after 5.00 pm the cafe downstairs closes and there’s no staff present in the event you need anything. The lady who checked us in mentioned a contact number (of a staff member who lived nearby) was printed on the leaflet on the table; but when we checked later that night there was none.
Well maintained and clean. There’s also a cafe downstairs that serve food and good coffee.

United Arab EmiratesThe food at the restaurant is more on the average side, nothing tastes significantly good to be willing to get back here. We still ate there as there’s nothing close by, but it’s not the type of food you’d be really happy with in terms of taste.
The room is really nice, bathroom is outside but doesn’t get too many insects except few mosquitos so all good. Water in the shower takes a bit of time to heat up, but I know it’s a Srilanka thing to start with. After 2 days we got the cleaning so if you’d need towels after one day, you need to ask for it directly I believe. Good AC, bed was ok.

SwitzerlandWifi isn’t working in the room. You’ve to go outside in the sofa area. Not much water for the shower. (No hot water either but it’s Sri Lanka you shouldn’t need it) Very small portion breakfast (which isn’t included in the price)

United KingdomWe couldn’t stay longer.
Set with rice fields all around, the views are incredible. A feeling of being in a much more remote spot when really you are only a couple of minutes away from the beach. The staff were warm, welcoming and informative. The welcome drink was delicious. The room was fabulous, great size, clean and modern. The bed was massive and so comfortable! The balcony was a lovely place to sit with a drink while looking out at the scenery. The Cafe has a great vibe and stunning food. I would recommend the granola bowl and also the avocado, eggs on toast. We met the owner and got to hang out with their dogs (Second Dog was our favourite). We are definitely going back.

United KingdomWe loved our beautiful rooms, fantastic bathroom and had an amazing breakfast each morning. Huge balcony with facilities if you wanted to make your own food. The outdoor area by the cafe is also fantastic and had bean bags and a clean pool for relaxing by the day. The hotel was very quiet so we had an excellent nights sleep! 10 min drive to Ahangama so great location

United KingdomTurned up and was told the air-conditioning wasn't working in the room. However, I was contacted in the morning to ask when we were arriving, so this could have been mentioned at this time so we could arrange other accommodation. They offered, only when we arrived, that they could possibly find an alternative place for us, but this was a hassle for us to move again after travelling here already. There wasn't an offer of free breakfast or anything to compensate. It's not really a great place to stay, more of just a cafe in my opinion.
Nicely designed rooms and fairly comfortable bed.

BulgariaWe paid a little bit more comparing other places in Ahangama hoping it will be clean, but it wasn’t.Also we were bothered too many times by the staff. In example we checked in and 2 mins later we were asked to pay. Also before check-out the staff came again to REMIND the check out is 11:00(even though it was not 11:00 yet). Then when my boyfriend opened the fridge, a wine bottle dropped to the floor and broke. We had to pay half of the bottle even though the bottle was in the fridge so that it was loose and easily fell down. In my opinion it was the fault of broken fridge rather than us. Then we asked not to bring another bottle but the staff had brought one while we were away. It almost dropped too. Maybe you should fix the fridges of put the wine bottle somewhere else than the door.
Bedroom was okay

CanadaNothing at all! Such a great place!
Loved the vibes, the setting on the paddy field is beautiful and serene, the food and coffee are so good, the rooms are so cute, spacious and clean! Really well designed! The shampoo is DIVINE! Lovely, friendly staff! Only very minor issue was that the pool was littered with leaves the day we arrived. It didn't make for an inviting dip, however, I did see the clean it the next day. I saw the staff cleaning everything else really well!

Czech RepublicThe staff was a bit chaotic although helpful and always smiling. The manager was obviously in a hurry and did not pay the same attention to the details as the architect. So we had to ask twice for the wifi password and even after that, the password didn't work (I just gave up after that). We were told we got a welcome drink and then we had to ask for it and in the end got another guest's drink. It was more of an annoyance rather then a disspoitment.
The place is a visually appealing boho-style house and coffee place. Whoever built it paid a lot of attention to detail. It's the main reason why we felt great here. There are only a few rooms and the coffee house closes at 4pm. After that it's a very quite location with the sounds of birds all around. The view of the swamp and rice fields in front is charming.
