I am surprised by the wifi score. It was pretty painful, and at one point, we didn't have a connection for over 12 hours. There was another incident. I lost my room key, which is entirely my fault. I accept responsibility for this. However, they didn't have a spare! Thankfully, they were swift to break open the room, which I appreciated, but it meant that instead of paying for a new key to get cut, I had to pay for a whole new lock. What's more, the new lock did not lock from the inside, meaning I had to sleep with the door unlocked, which I was not comfortable with. Nevertheless, they gave me a free night as a result, so I must express my gratitude for how well they handled the issue. However, I am writing this to remind them to please get copies of their keys cut, so this never happens again! :)

The best part about this accommodation was the owners. They were the friendliest and most welcoming people, ready to address any problems promptly. Because it was off-season, they gave me a superior room for no extra charge. And the room was great! The walking distance from the train station is convenient. Actions speak louder than words, and as I extended my stay three times, that says everything you need to know.

The wifi isn't great but it's good for basic browsing.

The host family were quite helpful and available when needed. It's on a main road which gets quite busy, and there are restaurants, grocery stores and gyms within walking distance. The rooms are basic but have what you need. They have a kitchen available for coffee and cooking.

Great location for the station and a Tuk Tuk to the lake area. Was just an afternoon and night In Kandy and got to see the Lake area and caught an early train to the tea country. Best to take 5 minute Pick-Me rather than walk to the station. Functional accommodation. On the main road to the station but set back a little and we had rooms on the top floors with views of the hills so noise and pollution wasn't a problem. Friendly family with advice about Kandy. Inexpensive Lemon Tree cafe next door popular with locals and does egg roti for breakfast.

Stayed one night. The room was ok, clean and spacious. Bathroom had hot shower. The Wi-Fi couldn’t quite reach the 2nd floor, not a big issue though. During check in, everything was fine. The host was very attentive and passionate to explain things and I felt welcome. We comminuted that I would be leaving the hotel at 8am to catch the train. However, my only complaint is, that the host somehow knocked at my door at 7am and asked if I was ready to leave, seemed really wanted to rush me out.

The location is on a busy street and it can be hard to get around without a tuk-tuk (and they are overpriced if you don’t use PickMe).

The room is on the third floor so there are lots of stairs. We stayed here after climbing Adam's Peak. It's close to the station but we found the road too busy to walk so we took tuk tuks.

The owner was very nice giving advice, doing our washing... We liked the patio just outside of the room with a kettle and basic stuff to have breakfast or a cup of tea.

Firstly, remember, this is not a hotel. It is a home stay. So, set your expectations accordingly. There will be no room service, house keeping, bell boy etc whom you can call on demand and similar star hotel like facilities. This is a home stay with all basic minimum facilities. For backpackers and families who just want a decent place to take rest in the night, this is a good place. As it is a home stay, we have the family running the place staying in the ground floor. And the family members are quite sweet and try to make us comfortable. The best part of this stay is the location. It is just about 8 minutes walk to the railway station. Several restaurants are nearby. And the tooth relic budha temple is just 5 minutes by Tuk Tuk.

I believe we stayed in the same room that a reviewer 2 years before us with some negative comments stayed in due to the description of the room. The window only looks out at the stairs up to the next floor so the curtains stay closed for privacy, and you can clearly hear other guests talking and walking up the metal(?) stairs. We did only stay for one night to get the train in the morning but had no problems after 9pm. When they are walking through the hallway is the only times we heard other guests. We had booked a different room on booking.com but was shown other room options that we could stay in. The air conditioning was good (note that not all rooms have AC and may only have ceiling fan). I found the pillows were actually the perfect firmness, usually hotel pillows are too soft and unsupported. The owner is a little eccentric but he helped give us warnings about taxi fare scams and that we'd be better off walking (case in point while telling us this we had an Uber tuktuk booked for Rs175 to drop nearby the Tooth Temple, then in the tuktuk the driver wanted us to pay Rs700 in cash instead so we got out and walked!). The hotel is easily walkable to the train station - no need to consider a tuktuk for this.

Super value for money! The hosts were a very friendly! We could store a lot of our luggage at their place (because we went hiking) and they even put quite some effort to sent it to us via train all the way to Ella. That saved us a lot of time!!
