For improvement, I suggest adding a cable TV, a mini fridge, and some tea/coffee-making facilities.

During my stay, the hotel was undergoing renovations, and I'm sure it will look beautiful once completed. The host is a kind and generous gentleman who truly cares about his guests. The caretaker lady is also very attentive and serves with genuine care. It’s a pleasant place located by the river, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim for fun.

Divya, who maintains the villa, was a pleasant lady. Delicious food she prepared. The price for the food is ok. It is a pleasant environment.Easyacess. There are few public transport in the morning you can use to go to reveston Tower, Pitawala pathana and Manigala. you have to wait till the same bus return in the evening.

Finding the turn-off to the accommodation was a bit tricky, as there was no sign, and we arrived after dark on our gravel bikes, coming down from the Knuckles Mountain Range/Riverston Pass. However, friendly neighbors helped us, and the owner was easily reachable by phone.

A wonderfully peaceful accommodation located near a picturesque stream and surrounded by forest. The rooms were comfortable, and despite our late arrival, the very attentive owner arranged a delicious dinner for us, which we could enjoy in the garden or on the terrace. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, and everything was handled smoothly and effortlessly. Nice place to stay!

I booked the villa deluxe, this is not a villa but a room. We did not have hot water. Air con was not working but we didn’t need it.

Our stay at this charming cottage nestled deep in the Knuckles jungle was nothing short of magical. The peaceful setting, surrounded by lush greenery, offered the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A beautiful mountain river, Nikal Oya, runs along the edge of the property—its crystal-clear, ice-cold waters are ideal for a refreshing dip. We learned from the friendly owner that this is the highest altitude in the river suitable for bathing, which made the experience even more special. The hospitality was exceptional. The caretaker, Diviya, went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. She personally guided us to a hidden mountain temple and the stunning Bambarakiri Ella waterfall, leading us through picturesque paddy fields along the way. Riverston Peak is just 9 km from the cottage, and watching the sunset from the mountain was absolutely breathtaking. If you’re looking to unwind, reconnect with nature, and explore some of Sri Lanka’s lesser-known natural wonders, this is the place for you. Public transport is also available nearby, which is a bonus for travelers without a car. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Riverston area!

The hotel owner arranged a delightful village tour for us, allowing us to meet local villagers and engage with their community. They also kindly organized a complimentary lunch for us (which we gladly paid for), adding to the authentic experience. The journey to the villa involved a scenic mountain river crossing, where we enjoyed a cool bath in the evening — a refreshing highlight. In the evening, the caretaker, Diviya, thoughtfully arranged a small campfire and BBQ dinner, creating a cozy and memorable atmosphere. Our rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a perfect base to relax and connect with nature. If you're looking to immerse yourself in the serenity of nature, I highly recommend Riverston Nature Villa. Far from the noise, nature surrounded us. There is a stream next to the accommodation, in which you can bathe. The owner cooked our dinner both nights. He is a very good cook. Helpful, he beckoned us to a guide, with whom we took an exciting tour in the Knuckles forest. I can recommend!

I have no words to express my feelings at this property Cascading River, just offering mind relaxing feeling . Excellent service, very clean rooms, delicious food . Please don’t forget to try Srilankan rice and curry menu for your one meal. The place is perfect if you want to escape the city noise and be fully in the nature! It was just a perfect place to relax, get very interesting insights into the local life and also explore the mountains and waterfalls by hiking! Can just recommend this place! It is located next to the river, you will hear all night the nice sounds of the water! Also the people are just heartwarming! They care a lot and the owner Jaya made us feel like being at home! He showed us around everywhere and did take care of everything! We really enjoyed our two days and would have loved to stayed longer!

There was nothing I didn’t like

At first we didn’t really know what to expect since there weren’t many reviews on booking, but we were really enthusiastic about this place. The location is stunning, it’s in the middle of nature. I also really liked the people that were hosting. The food was amazing and they made a bonfire at dinner. The woman also took us on a really cool hike through the rice fields. It was an amazing experience all together.

From the moment we arrived at RNV the owner and staff made us feel at home and really went above and beyond. They took us on a tour of the village showing us the best swimming holes. In the evenings we loved being able to sit next to the river with a fire sharing stories. After months in the tourist areas of the south it was nice to slow down and meet local Sri Lankans living their lives. We will definitely come back!

the location is quite down to walk.. otherwise superb.

the nature view , the falls sound just beside the villa. it was totally a great stay.. the staff were too friendly…they even came up to the main road to receive ur baggage’s and escort u to the room.
