We had a wonderful stay at The Coconut Gardens Hotel in Tissamaharama. The complex is beautiful, with spacious rooms and a very pleasant swimming pool. The restaurant serves good food and the atmosphere is relaxed. What really made the difference was the staff – extremely friendly and welcoming. A special thanks to Sihina and Dinushi, two young and highly motivated team members who went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable. Highly recommended!

Expect the best at Coconut Gardens. The perfect base for Yala National Park. From the warm welcome of the staff and owners, to the wonderful freshly prepared food, manicured tropical grounds and the refreshing swimming pool, everything is perfect. A true island nation paradise!

Having to leave is the only thing I did not like.

The property is incredibly clean and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. The pool is great and the staff went above and beyond to take care of us. The owner too was very attentive and made sure we were having a good time throughout. When we arrived, the pool was not working due to some water issue, which was a big disappointment as the pool was one of the main reasons we had picked the property - the owner offered us a free-of-charge boat trip on the nearby lake to make up for it, which was much appreciated. Indeed otherwise, we wouldn’t really have had anything to do, as the safari trips are the only real attraction in the area. Coconut hotel really is a perfect place to unwind before/after a safari. Also recommend the restaurant/bar.

There was nothing we didn’t like but I would suggest some additions to what is offered at the property - so that it could be a fuller experience - perhaps adding some attractions other than the pool, such as a pool table, massage treatments and also offering the boat trip (which we really enjoyed!) as a standard option. Also the bar suddenly closed at 10pm, which was fine but would have been good to have been aware that would happen/given the option of last orders.

This was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka . The breakfast was amazing . The pool area was beautiful and the staff were friendly, always smiling and so helpful . We didn’t have dinner but wished we had. Dinner menu looked incredible and the other guests looked extremely happy with their dinner. Would 100% recommend this place to stay for Yala safari . Rooms also sparkling clean and good powerful shower.

    Nothing we loved everything .

The property with the swimming pool was nice and the room was clean. The staff members we interacted with at dinner and breakfast, Zoro, Sena, Dinushi, were very friendly and pleasant. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and plentiful. Would stay again despite power outage in the early morning.

Would have been a perfect 10 if the power had not gone off in the early morning making the room hot without A/C.

We had such a wonderful stay at The Coconut Hotel and Restaurant. Everything about the hotel felt spacious, clean, and comfortable. The rooms were large, beautifully set up, and spotless, with everything you might need, including a little fridge. The whole place felt fresh and well cared for. The pool was absolutely beautiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were also amazing with our kids, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We felt truly looked after. Even the owner’s son went out of his way to drive us to town a couple of times, which was such a kind gesture. We also ate at his son’s restaurant ‘Red’ down town which we can 100% recommend. The safari to Yala, also organized by the hotel, was wonderful, nice and comfortable jeep, good and friendly driver / guide who really went above and beyond to find as many animals as possible for us to see. This hotel really gets everything right, from the thoughtful details to the warm, genuine hospitality and kind extra gestures. We can 100% recommend it. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them, and it made our trip to Yala one to remember.

Nice newly built accommodations situated about 40 minutes from Yala National Park. We only stayed one whole day (2 nights) and the reason was to go for a full days safari. The room size was good and rooms were also clean with a modern bathroom. Communal swimming pool is ok for a few guests but too small if more than 5 people are using it. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Ideal place to stay for a safari tour for a reasonable price.

No mosquito net on the bed. Rooms had bed with four post frame so could easily have added a mosquito net maybe they will in the future. Bathroom didn't have a blind on the main window and could be easily seen through from the neighbouring property. Although this was the case when we arrived, we mentioned this to the staff and they came and fitted blinds on the same day so top marks for that.

The pool is the star! The staff are young, very friendly and attentive. The food was great, with a sumptuous breakfast provided. The hotel is an oasis with lots of beautiful coconut trees, but all sorts of other fruits are grown in the surrounding garden. We, along with all the other guests we spoke with, loved the safaris booked through the hotel.

Our chalet room was very large and spacious, but we would have loved a desk or table.

Beautiful place with a great pool. Nice and spacious rooms. We went for the meal plan, which is served by the staff and has enough options to vary your meals daily. Great options for safari in early morning (where you get a to go breakfast) and in the afternoon. Experienced driver who knows all the good spots. Very friendly staff who make you feel at home.

We encountered no problems during our stay.
