Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Very Clean and comfortable Apartments, the price is really good for what you get. Quiet place in nature, not on the main road. Indika was the best host we could imagine, he helped us in any belongings and was so incredibly kind. We really like him and his family and we hopefully come back one time!

United Arab EmiratesA bit too far to walk to town and beach. BUT, the tuk tuks are available at such a low price. And we just loved the family so we didnt care. Looking forward to see them again.
The family was AMAZING. So kind and so sweet. The dad, Indika, was such a good man. His wife is too sweet. They have a TUK TUK. They have alll types of trees in the yard. Monkeys come. Sweet place. The home.is beautiful. They also cook food. Upstairs rooms are larger with balconey. They took us to Galle. On way, Indika took us to many spots of beauty. And we also entered the Turtle Hospital( 2000 Rupees ) for a good cause. Well worth it.

IrelandNothing at all - it was perfect!
We loved our stay! This was our last stop on our travels on Sri Lanka, and we could not have been happier with this place to end our amazing trip. - 10 minute walk to beach, and less to local restaurants and other businesses - peaceful, quiet area with beautiful garden & setting - 10/10 breakfast - so fresh and large portions - separate kitchen available - we availed of the offer for laundry (super helpful & quick!) - huge balcony (great for relaxing & you can chill and watch the monkeys!) - the bedroom was very large & spacious. Air conditioning + a fan. Comfy, large bed with mosquito net. - great hot shower available - incredible value for money - the host, Indika was very kind and helpful. It was lovely to meet this family! We also loved the dog, Siba! Indika shared helpful knowledge, and went above and beyond for anything we needed. We would loved to have stayed longer & would highly recommend to anyone!

SlovakiaThe accommodation was located in a quiet and green area, but still a short walk from the centre and the beach. We also had a kitchenette and fridge, which is very handy in the heat. The room was clean and spacious we had both air conditioning and a fan. The host was very helpful and friendly. We took advantage of the laundry facilities and also ordered a delicious dinner and breakfast which was prepared by the hosts and it was very tasty indeed. :) We are glad we chose this accommodation option, we would do so again.

Indika and his family were such wonderful hosts. I booked for a week and ended up staying a whole month because I loved the place so much and was hosted by such lovely people. The property was located in the quieter area away from the busy area of Mirissa and Mirissa Beach but just a 15 minute walk or a few minutes by tuk tuk. It was easy to spend time on the beach while staying here. I stayed in two different apartments and they were both nice. I loved feeling like I was connected to nature while I stayed there. Indika gave me a nice tour of the garden. I could enjoy my daily yoga on property as well. Sometimes there were monkeys in the trees of the areas which was nice to see. The property's facilities were comfortable. I also ate many of my meals there and Manjula is such a great cook. I spent Sinhala New Years with the family and it was so lovely learning about their traditions and learning to cook some of their foods with them. I can't express how grateful I am to the family for their warmth and kindness during my stay. This has certainly been one of my best homestay experiences. I would happily stay with them again and look forward to returning with family and friends. I highly recommend Green Pepper Villa!

United KingdomSpacious and clean rooms with a welcoming host. The property is set in beautiful surroundings with fruit trees and animals, creating a peaceful atmosphere. It’s just a 12-minute walk to the beach and close to restaurants and the main area. Warm water available, but the WiFi could be improved.

Sri LankaThis was by far the BEST stay I had in Sri Lanka, my hosts were so kind, gracious and welcoming and made me feel at home immediately. My room had all the necessities and the bathroom was spotless. Indika and his family went out of their way to assist me (massage and taxi booking) and Indika took me around on his Tuk tuk upon request. I absolutely loved the delicious BBQ grilled fish they served me for dinner and would recommend. I was spoilt with coconuts and lucky enough to receive a tour of their beautiful garden filled with an abundance of fruit and vegetables. Mirissa beach and several other local amenities are a short walk away. If you are looking for a hospitable environment on the south coast of the island, this is the place to be. Thank you to Indika and his family (and their friendly dog Shiba) for making the final days of my trip so memorable and wholesome.

United KingdomOut of the 18 properties we stayed in during our 2 months stay in Sri Lanka this was by far the best. We booked 4 nights initially and ended up staying 8. The rooms were spotlessly clean, very spacious and exactly as shown in the pictures. The communal kitchen was very well equipped with everything and a good sized fridge. The balcony was huge and a great place to sit out in the evening and play games. The whole place was very light and airy. The hosts were super friendly and provided good information on places to visit. We ate the homemade vegetarian soup two nights running, which was delicious and our friends had barbecued fish. The pictures are accurate.

United KingdomQuite a few mosquito in the room already inside the mosquito net when we arrived . Lots of mosquito outside so we didn't sit on the terrace at night.
Lovely friendly couple run the homestay and let us store luggage as we were early. Nice big clean room and bathroom, very modern and big area outside to sit. Use of shared kitchen was handy. The monkeys will come visit you and steal your food if not careful 🙊😂

United KingdomI liked everything ☺️
I LOVED my stay at Green Pepper! It is a beautiful property, built to very high standards, huge rooms, lovely terrace, excellent kitchen, surrounded by the jungle but only a 10 minute walk to the main road with beach access. Indika and his family are wonderful hosts, including Seeba the cute dog, who will tell you when the monkeys are approaching so you can come to the terrace to see them. I truly recommend this wonderful property and kind hosts to anyone!

This was one of my favorite places during my 1 month trip in Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by the jungle and you can see beautiful colorful birds. The owners are so lovely people and always have a big smile at their face. They are very kind and helpful. They offer an amazing breakfast that you should definitely order. Plus check out the papaya juice as they use fruits from their garden. There is also a lovely dog called Simba that I loved spending time with. The room was very spacious and clean. There is a shared kitchen that makes the difference when you travel long term. Thank you so much for everything!

United KingdomIndika and his family are wonderful hosts. They can't do enough to ensure you have a pleasant, comfortable stay. The villa is new and modern. The whole top floor is devoted to two rooms, shared kitchen and terrace. The terrace is gorgeously decorated and surrounded by rainforest and birds. If you're lucky, Indika will take you on a tour of all the fruits and herbs in the garden - ranging from bananas, to pepper, to pineapples, to chillis. And if you like dogs, you'll also get to meet Simba who is super cute. The villa is about 12 minutes from the high street so it is nice and quiet. I liked the fact they could organise services easily - from moped, to laundry, to tuk tuk (driven by Indika). 10 out of 10.

JapanWe stayed in many places in Sri Lanka, but this one quickly became our favorite. The property is newly built and exceptionally clean. The room is spacious with a beautiful view through the window. Located on the second floor, it features a veranda offering stunning views of the garden and jungle while maintaining a sense of privacy. This view was a highlight of our stay, as we often spotted various animals and birds. The room includes a desk, and the Wi-Fi is reliable, making it a great spot for remote work. There is a clean, fully equipped shared kitchen available, so you can drink tea or eat meals to enjoy while taking in the jungle view. The location is within walking distance of the town center, but you can also rent a scooter from the owner at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay!

GermanyThe room is super spacious and the terrace wonderfully located between mango, cashew, avocado and lychee trees. It feels like being in the jungle and we were lucky enough to see monkeys playing in the trees while having breakfast. Everything is super new and clean and you can rent a scooter for a very reasonable price. Don't miss out on trying the homemade breakfast, lunch or dinner, it was the best Sri Lankan food we had. The host mum even taught us the craft of preparing Sri Lankan String Hoppers in a personal cooking class. We loved it! Having said all of that, what really made our stay the most memorable was Indika, Manjul and their wonderful family (including their dog Ciba). After staying with them for one week, we felt like home and didn't want to leave. We hope to come back!

PolandWonderful place to stay. You have the whole upstairs of the villa. That includes huge terrace with the table that could work as a dining table or as an excellent working space, equipped new kitchen, and your own spacious room. Family members living downstairs are adorable and helpful. I enjoy petting their dog Simba. The place is located in quite hidden but very easily accessible street, giving you comfort of quiet local family living and at the same time being 2 min scooter drive from main Mirissa street. Quiet, safe, private and close to main facilities. Good value for money, bed was very comfortable, terrace is perfect for morning yoga overlooking exotic birds at nearby trees.
