    Uncomfortable mattress

A good location for hiking in Mullerthal, excellent personnel - the landlady was very attentive and helpful - private parking, very good breakfast, very good restaurant but maybe a bit expensive

The hotel Gruber is a wonderful location for a short break in Luxemburg. The room was spacious with a separate lounge area and the bathroom was excellent and clean. Breakfast was wonderful: no self-service and with a wonderfully laid-out table.

Your headquarters to discover La Petite Suisse.

    • Superior Double Room

The room was a bit too small (I was on my own so it was OK but it was normally a double room, and this would be rather tight for two persons). A better choice for breakfast would be nice.

It's actually a guesthouse; you feel like in the one, at least: a calm place in a small village, "old-school" style, with a very nice landlady. Clean and tidy, it has a parking lot (which can be busy but parking outside on the street is also possible) and a garden for relaxation. The hotel can be a HQ to discover the beauty of La Petite Suisse region of Luxembourg. There is a bus to a picturesque town of Echternach - just 5 km away - every hour, also on WE (the bus stop is located next to the hotel) and from there you can start exploring the castles, rocks and valleys. The hotel restaurant offers very tasty meals in the evenings, don't miss this part of your stay! I had a comfortable bed, so, a good sleep...

Breakfast choice is good, but you won't be off for a day of sports on the offer of several kinds of sandwiches with choice of sweet, cheese or meat, a yogurt and a boiled egg. In general a well-presented breakfast at the table (no buffet), but for active guests some muesli or other form of slow carbs would be appreciated. Also something to keep in mind: breakfast only from 8:15 till 10:00 - early risers not apply... During my stay, the average age was 50+, and the hotel caters for this - more relaxed - public.

Hotel Gruben is a small hotel (less than 20 rooms), family managed for a long time. Enjoyed a family room with 2 people - extra room as they replaced the third bed option by a little sitting area. Quiet location, with silent rooms. Spacious bathroom, well equipped with hairdrier present. Healthy menu/kitchen in the attached restaurant. Well-maintained garden with outdoor sitting options (not for eating, just relaxation or a drink). Has outside area to clean walking shoes of accumulated mud.

Unfortunately, the hotel does not have an elevator which is quite inconvenient for someone living in the second floor when it comes to carrying heavy baggage. The breakfast is not a buffet. One has to wait to be served and there are limited choices. For a person with a special diet (vegan) or with food intolerance (gluten, lactose) the choices are very limited or non-existent. There is no chance of warm food for breakfast, except for coffee, tee or boiled eggs.

I mostly liked: the cleanliness of the room/bathroom/stairs/dinner room and the friendliness of the staff. Very important for me was the good location and the availability of parking. What surprised me was the fact that 90% of the hotel guests were seniors (couples). I did not understand why since (from my knowledge) there is no special area/facilities for seniors in near vecinity.

We liked the location outside of Echternach -- quiet, near the river and a walking bridge to the German side, easy parking at the hotel. Our dinner at the restaurant was delicious and they had no trouble at all preparing gluten free options for one of us. Beds comfy and rooms clean, simply furnished. Proprietor was very helpful with local advice, friendly, and spoke excellent English. Our dog was welcomed as well. We would definitely stay here again!

Room from 80s uber small size duvet hard old feather pillow so sleep quality not great ,sit in bath shower no curtain/screen ,no wifi in room. No fruit at breakfast and cheap orange juice .Overall it's a nice little hotel and fine for a pit stop. The owner is trying hard but room standard is disappointing and the rooms need some investment and tlc

Small privately run hotel in quiet location easy parking and reasonable room price by Luxembourg standard . Friendly helpful owner and food in the up market restaurant was good also breakfast served not buffet style .

The hotel doesn't have twin bedded rooms so we were allocated a large bed that had 2 separate mattresses which was OK but we'd rather of had separate beds.

Nice garden, close to the River Sure so plenty of walks available. Good breakfast and meals were nice.

was dissapointed - because I read about the playground, wich was not there, absolutely no other families and other kids, and no trip on wednesday as written. You have to drive 5 min's to Echternach by car! No aircondition - very warm rooms.

Nice place, clean and friendly place.

No other shops or restaurants nearby, so you didn't really have a choice of food. Although restaurant on site was fantastic, the food was very expensive and not overly filling after a long day.
