Noise and low ceiling in room 61

Location was great. Bed comfortable. I was given room 61 with an aircond as it was in the attic. Room was nice and spacious but ceiling on the top half of the bed was very low and I kept knocking my head on the ceiling. I ask for a change and on my 3rd day I moved to room 32. A smaller and no air cond room but it was nicer. Noise from the street can be noisy hence they supply ear plugs. Breakfast was good and though room was small you can always find a space but had to queue as the space to get food was very minimum only allows a max of 2 people to gather their food. Still can't beat the location which is opposite the bus station and the famous central market and old town. I had a nice stay. Reception staff and all other staff very nice . Thank you

We were staying from Friday to Sunday. It was really hot outside during these days and we kept windows open during the night because there was no air conditioning in the room, except fan. So, there was a noise from the street, which affected our sleep quality.

The room was quite good with comfortable beds. It had everything we needed. We were celebrating a couple of birthdays and the staff provided glasses, plates and spoons for us. The location is good because of its proximity to the old town, bus station and railway station. Also, friendly staff, good continental breakfast, good atmosphere...

Initial impression was a problem and the fact that the door to our room wouldn't open and we had to be given another one. The breakfast bar area is very tight - there was lots of food available it was just difficult to get to as it was always busy. Not keen on reception staff standing on the front step smoking whatever the standard of the hotel.

Hotel is convenient for old town and station. Our room was spacious with air con and the bathroom had a Jacuzzi (although it took ages to fill). For a 3* it was not bad and the breakfast bar was constantly being refilled in the morning.

There was a heat wave, and no air conditioning - the fan helped but we needed to keep the windows open for air. And here comes the second down point - noise. On one side of the hotel there are several bars and on the other garbage dumpsters. Both cause a lot of noise into the night (bars) and the early morning (dumpsters) and if the windows are open you hear it all . The hotel does provide earplugs and there is a new wing under construction where there will be air conditioning. The overall experience was still very positive.

The location is very central, in old Riga and within walking distance from the central train station, public transport, city center, restaurants, supermarket - everything. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were well equipped with a kettle, big mugs and glasses, minibar (=fridge) and a safe. Wi-Fi is strong, and the rooms have big bathtubs and good water pressure. No air conditioning but there is a fan which really helps. The price is very reasonable. We came with friends, stayed for one night, left for a 5-night bike trip (bike rental 3 min from the hotel) and returned for another 2 nights. The hotel kept our suitcases - no problem there. Will return, especially in cooler season.

Good hotel in Old Town, very near bus station
    • Leisure trip

The Wifi was excruciatingly slow, and the signal only adequately covered a part of the hotel. The breakfast server was too quick in collecting used plates and glasses that every time I returned to my table, I had to get a new glass. That was kind of problematic since glasses were hard to get by. (Though by all means, the server is a very efficient person, and always made it a point to check if the food is restocked.) Also, the hotel is right next to a pub, which isn't really a problem. But it's a youngster's pub and things can get noisy at times. The crowd there was never rowdy, but the noise may be a bit too distracting if your room is facing the main street. The windows do block the noise, but in the summer I reckon guests would like to leave their windows open.

The hotel was pretty much adequate, and a good deal given its price. What I like most about it, however, is its location. If one is arriving via the bus or train, the hotel is literally just across the street from the station. It takes about three minutes by foot from the bus station, which would save one the cost of getting a cab. Also, the hotel is situated within the Old Town, so the main sights are pretty much walking distance. For example, to get to the famous House of the Blackheads is just a 10-minute stroll, and one passes through an array of restaurants and shops along the way. It's also on the same street as the other prominent hotels in Riga, such as the Kempinski, and is just down the corner from the main shopping street. The rooms we got were good, though a bit dated. The beds were comfortable. The economy room was really cramped, but the triple room was really spacious. Both rooms have big windows. The bathrooms were clean, though I slipped on the tub twice. Maybe a rubber mat can be provided. There were also lots of pillows, which is wonderful. A lot of standard hotels these days just give you one pillow. Breakfast was also ok. At the price you're paying, there is almost nothing to complain about. The hotel is cheap, clean, comfortable and centrally located, which very much makes it a good one.

There was some strange noise - perhaps coming from the tubes or the fridge that was a bit disturbing. It could also be because of the construction works coming from outside, so might have been temporary.

The rooms could be a bit bigger. We didn’t have enough space to keep our luggage. Also, there is a street just at the back of the hotel. It was very warm in Riga during our stay, so we kept the windows open at night. But the noise from the street woke us up very early in the morning.

The location was excellent, right in the heart of old town and also very well connected by public transport. The central railway station & the central bus station are just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The bus from the airport will drop you right across the street. Unfortunately the bathtub could not be closed to enjoy a hot bath, so it could only be used as a shower. The walls were thin, so it can get bit noisy (though this is not an issue for me). What we did not like was the lack of ventilation in the room which makes the air very dry. During the night the window had to be closed and we both woke up with clogged noses. Since i am allergic to dust, this was the only let down from my side. Otherwise, nothing to complain about.

    1) They first sent us to a room where we had single beds. After going to reception and giving an overview about my problem - the first answer we got, is that we made an upgrade to you, so you can drink coffee and use safe. I made myself clear, that I mostly do not drink it and safe is currently not important to us. We choose this room with my girlfriend, because it had double bed. She fast understood and offered another room which had double bed (this was actually bit bigger). 2) The card opened door next too us, not where we where directed. Also the card ending functioning in one point. 3) Curtains did not block the sunlight enough, is was really light in the morning. 4) We had 2 small blanket instead of 1 big in double room. So actually these were minor issues, but due to that check-in was about 30 minutes to us (quite a bit). Everything else were very good.

    1) When I complained that I booked double bed instead having to single beds, I got bigger room with double bed. 2) Breakfast was very good, like homemade. 3) This place is in very good location 4) This is very budget friendly Hotel. 5) The room was very clean and in the morning we were offered also new towels etc. Got everything what we need in this room. 6) Bed was perfect for me - not soft.

The toilet brush in our room definitely needed an exchange, that's all we didn't like in four nights.

The location of this hotel was amazing and impressed us every time we came back from a day trip or wanted to go somewhere. Everything in the centre is reachable within ten minutes walking, often less. The breakfast was delicious and there were different options each day (and the variety was already high on a single day).

Very good location, Hotel is just nearby from the bus central station, cross the street, in the edge of the old town. Price is also pretty good! Although in 1st floor, it's still quiet to get better sleep. Really Nice room, big size, with very comfortable bed. They provide electric kettle for hot water, but it's only plastic one as other European countries.

The first room was alarmingly smelly. We felt this smell also in the corridor and even at the "al lado" Wellness SPA Hotel. Luckily we were offered the second room and this was good. But what if they had not had it?? We try to survive, so we need to avoid such dangerous smell. And we want to warn other guests!

We liked the second room which we got after we found that the first room was dangerously smelly. So, thanks to our unexpected battle, this time we could survive, yes!

The hotel front didn't look so nice, but don't let this first impression fool you. The rooms were really nice, and functional too.

Hotel room was clean, warm and comfortable. Attached bathroom was spacious. I have no complaints at all. Buffet breakfast (included in room rate) was plentiful and quite delicious, especially the pancakes. Hotel is located 5 minutes walk from the inter-city bus station, and 10 minutes from the railway station. Room rate (in winter) was very reasonable and of good value.

There is no floor drain on bathroom floor, so if there is any water on floor you got to wait till it get dry. And second thing: that we had to leave..

Been to Riga & stayed at Forum multiple times. Just came here for a long weekend & everything went smoothly again. - Sign in was fast, we emailed them on our way from Tallinn to Riga if we could check in earlier and we had room ready about 1,5 hr before the normal check in time, without any extra fee. So great!! - We had booked just small economy room, but we got again a big room, with doublebed & a balcony! - Room was just renovated, there were no wall-to-wall carpet anymore, just beautiful "wooden" floor with one small carpet & big windows. - Room was bright & comfy & had -Bed awesome big doublebed with extra pillow! - Tv - Small fridge & electric kettle, some tea & coffee too. - Breakfast was included but we didnt go this time, since we wanted to go around & sleep late and had that fridge and kettle in our room and grocery/bakeries right next to. Also some restaurants offers breakfast and Karjala Bar (half finn owned places) has great breakfast just a block away. - Bathtube, hairdryer, enough towels Hotel Forum has great location. Walking distance to all those Old Town attractions. Lots of restaurants, bars, coffeehouses, fastfood places, shops, parks, museums near. Europark at Origo is just few minutes away, where you can park your car & easily walk back to the hotel. Train & bus station as well as tram stop are just a stone throw away.

Overall it's a great hotel. Would've been nice to have more healthy food in the breakfast buffet (fresh juices etc). But this is only a minor improvement point.

The hotel is at a great location, the old and new city center are easy to reach. It is close to a shopping mall and a lot of nice bars. Everything is of walking distance from the hotel. Public transport from the airport is right next door as well (both train and buses). The rooms were nice and clean. The quality and price were also fair! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Only rated cleanliness lower due to some random grapes in the corner of the room that the staff must have missed. Also the walls are quite thin - we could here our neighbours phone buzzing in the early hours!

The location of this hotel is perfect for access to the old town and it is quite close to the bus and train stations. There is a supermarket nearby, and the outdoor market is about 5 minutes away. I didn't like that our room was on the ground floor next to the street, but actually it was surprisingly quiet given the location. The beds were good and we had plenty of hot water. There was a minibar we could use as a fridge. Breakfast was excellent and hearty, though more robust on the weekend. Free WiFi.

On the next morning of our stay there was an issue with the shower, as it had a very weak pressure. However, when we came to the reception, we heard that the issue had already been taken into consideration. Also, the hotel could renew or change the beds, as the one in our room was a bit crunching.

It is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Riga - everyone may find shops, bars and restaurants within a walking distance. Also, it is very well connected with public transport - the train and bus stations are nearby and it is easy to use bus services for connection from the airport. Our double room was clean and well equipped, it even had a mini-bar including drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. The size of the room was good for 2 persons and the bathroom was on a bigger side. We also enjoyed breakfast which included quite many choices of hot meals, drinks and desserts. In addition to this, we were very happy that we could leave our luggage for storage for several hours after the check out at no additional fee. The staff was also very friendly and spoke English fluently.

After paying extra for 2 delux rooms and travelling with friends we were told our room was not available and we would have to stay in an apartment around the corner approx. 5 minutes walk away. Although the apartment was of a nice standard it was not what I booked and meant separating from our friends. The walk to breakfast in torrential wind and rain was far from luxury as was the breakfast itself. It was the worst continental breakfast we have ever experienced. If the staff could have been bothered to check they would have seen it needed replenishing but there was no pancakes left, no scrambled egg, no orange juice, no sausage, no bread for toast. The breakfast room was tiny and chaotic. We tried it twice and didn't even bother going for it the third morning it was that poor. We found the receptionist to be very miserable and unhelpful on check in. The man on duty on departure was however very pleasant and organised our taxi. it would have been nice to be asked if we enjoyed our stay though. This hotel obviously knew they could not accommodate us and should have let us know before our arrival so we could have booked a suitable alternative. The one 'delux' room we did get had a sauna that did not work and was very small and pokey with tea and coffee facilities but no milk provided. I honestly would not return or recommend.

Not much really. I booked 2 luxury rooms in the hotel . On arrival one was not available and the other was far from luxurious. The best thing was the location. Near to all attractions of the old town and the fabulous 'Aussie Bar' next door.

Our room was in 6. floor for which there’s no elevator. Also since it’s the last floor you really have to watch your head when standing up from the bed. :) there’s also too little space in the bathroom and no kettle!

The breakfast was okay for this kind of hotel, quit a lot to choose from. However, the dining room is packed with people so the access to the food is problematic - you really have to wait.
