It is an advise: the room was damp and a little dark, so we recommend a system to dehumidify.

The structure was very nice and welcoming. Excellent position. It would deserve a 9.5 for the damp of the room, but the kindness of Hafid could bring the vote to 11. Hafid is a fantastic person, who made our stay incredible, and he even cooked us a great breakfast.

Beautiful little oasis of calm in the middle of the medina a few minutes from the beach. The place is run by wonderful couple - very friendly and extremely helpful. The place has great, relaxed bohemian feel and it's very clean. The markets and restaurants are only minutes away. Delicious breakfast. The rooms aren't huge but the high ceiling give sense of space. Excellent value for money. You'll love it!

Very good location, very beautiful dar with a super nice garden! Breakfast was great, the bed very comfy and the owners, Hakima and Hafid, super super nice and helpful! They made us feel at home and were always ready to chat a bit with us and share experiences. You can immediately feel how much love they put on what they do. If we come back to Essaouira, we will stay here again! For sure!

Our 3-night stay at Riad Dar Dayana was exceptionally pleasant! We enjoyed the good size of our Onyx room and its beautifully decorated bathroom. The entire place is very cosy with lots of lovely traditional details. The location of the Riad is also very convenient with many shops and restaurants just a few steps away. The owners Odile and Patrick are such a lovely couple, they made us feel at home from the very first moment. Their hospitality is beyond words and we enjoyed their company and chats very much! It is also important to mention the breakfast - one of the best we had while our 10-day holiday in Morocco. It is served in a beautiful courtyard with home-made yoghurt, fruit, freshly baked warm (!) bread and other goodies every morning. And, of course, Patrick’s home-made cakes were a special treat! This place will definately bring back lovely memories and we hope to be back one day soon!

The riad is small and family managed. Everything about it is amazing: the garden is a pearl, the terrace is great, the rooms are perfect with all comforts and the family running it is outstanding. Breakfast was one of the best I had in Morocco. We asked to have breakfast at 7 and it was possible. The man ran out to get us freshly baked bread. He gave us all kind of info on Essaouira and on Morocco in general. Definetly THE place to stay if visiting Essaouira.

Pretty riad in the Medina. Our room had windows on the lovely garden and had very pretty decoration, somewhat small bathroom, but it was ok. The owners are very hospitable and helped us find our way across town. The closest parking is in place Bab Marrakech, only a short walk away. The town is small so you can basically walk everywhere from the riad. Lovely breakfast with homemade yogurt.

Nothing really, though the lampshade didn't work in one of the rooms, and the Amethyst room and the other double are a touch small, but the comforts within the riad more than make up for that.

Hafid and his wife were lovely hosts and the welcome and advice given about Essaouria was very helpful. The riad is however stunning, and includes a red walled, light and plant filled atrium with a little water feature. The decor is magnificent - traditional and modern at the same time; the most beautiful on our 2 week trip around Southern Morocco. We stayed in the Amethyst room which was quite small and the only one available as it was New Year's Eve at we booked late. We did peek into other rooms/ saw families and they looked even more beautiful, colour scheme-wise, so we are determined to come back here with our daughter as its the perfect place for a family. The breakfast is out of this world good - including delicious home made yoghurt with orange flower water and almonds, fresh fruit salad, good coffee etc - which we were given in front of a log fire, seated on extremely comfortable armchairs. We could have stayed in that spot all day had we not needed to move to our next riad as Dayana was booked up. The shower was also great. Definitely going back to Dar Dayana and will book in advance to get a long stay.

There was nothing against our liking. Maybe if the roof terrace would also have been more green and lush, our stay would have merited a 100.

For price/value this is one of the best stays we ever did. Dar Dayana has this morrocan exotic touch, is immaculate clean, has a sunny and lush central courtyard, and the most adorable janitors (and excellent cooks!). To enjoy the delicious breakfast in the courtyard is heaven. It's not far from the parking at the city gates and lies central in the more morrocan, less tourist quarter of Essaouira, what made it easy to saviour the authentic flavors and social contacts of his beautiful harbor medina.

We did not feel as comfortable as a previous visit, friends and family of the staff were around downstairs. There was a lot of noise from the street and adjoining properties day and night including dogs and motorbikes. A tall building is being constructed close by. A strange noise above the Amethyst room at night was the washing machine. The windows rattled and the shutters kept closing. The terrace was dirty and shabby and the only sun lounger was broken. We were the only guests and I can understand why, Dar Dayana is not cheap. Given this, it is over priced. Unfortunately at these places there is no recompense, only the learning.

We loved the style and location of this beautiful little riad. The room was attractive and comfortable and the breakfasts were lovely, but the best aspect for us was the help offered by the hosts Patrick and Odile as we were new to this fascinating town and would not have found such interesting restaurants and shops without them. Nothing was too much trouble and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this riad for price, comfort, location and company.

We would have liked a door or curtain on the shower as the temperature was a bit cool. Also, you need to know if this is your first time visiting a walled city in Morocco that someone will pick you up at the wall with a wheelbarrow, put your luggage into it and you need to keep up with him until you get to the Riad. That wasn't explained by the owner and it was a bit of a shock to have someone grab our luggage and take off! The chaise lounges on the rooftop terrace need some repair.

Hakim and Hafid, the caretakers of the property are a delightful couple who went out of their way to take good care of us. It was our first place where we stayed in Morocco and it was a perfect introduction to this amazing country. Hakim is an incredible cook and we ate dinner twice at the Riad as the food was so amazing. Lovely service, great location for visiting the city and a wonderful experience.

For this price range I would have expected a desk, but the room (as they often are in old houses in walled cities) was probably too small to accommodate one. Local boys played and bantered in the adjacent streets one evening till late; didn't bother me though it might bother others.

The location's great, along a side street, but only 2 minutes from one of the main streets that is lined with not-too-touristy shops - very convenient for getting daily essentials and other things you may need. Dar Dayana has a serene little garden at the centre of the property. The owners have got the balance just right, between being helpful and friendly, yet non-intrusive. The breakfast was great, complete with home-made yoghurt. On one morning there was a 'special': fresh locally-made cow and goat cheeses. Breakfast also included fruit. Room was aesthetically lovely.
