Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThe taxi can't take you all the way to the hostel because it's inside the medina. You'll have to walk a bit from where the taxi drops you off :(
Staying at Simon's hostel was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was welcoming, the facilities were clean, and his hospitality made me feel right at home. I can't wait to come back!

MoroccoThe Wifi could be better
The Hostel was amazing. The best thing about it were the many young people in the hostel and Simon our host/ tour guide :)) He took the time to show us hidden gems and had amazing tipps as a local. While we were there we made some homemade pasta from scratch with the whole hostel and got to know many people. Note that the Wifi doesn’t work in the rooms but other than that the room was very clean and comfortable. The hostel also has an amazing terasse with a kitchen.

United KingdomHard to say, anything not spotlessly clean or fully functional adds to the charm of the place!
Simone was very king, generous and helpful! Always making sure I was okay, showing me round the Medina and giving me tips on where to go. The room was beautiful and authentic.

SpainMaybe a proper bathroom separate for the room would feel more comfortable. But the host is really nice and helpful, and helped me find a solution to feel more comfortable, thanks a lot for that :)

GermanyIt’s a little bit noisy since the entrance hall is used as a community place and you can hear that in the rooms.
Really nice place, location is also very good and the stuff is very friendly. Our room was nice.

United Arab Emiratesthe bathroom in the private left something to be desired and the wifi was non-existent in the room. to enter the hostel, people have to ring the bell, but most of the time, employees are hanging out on the roof and it takes some time to get downstairs, meaning the bell is often rung multiple times and clearly heard throughout the hostel
the private was comfortable enough. The vibe of the people working there is very cool. The location is hard to beat

GermanyThe breakfast was not until ten. It also costs extra but we knew that in advance. There are plenty of places to have breakfast outside the hostel or outside the medina though.
The hostel is located close to the centre of the medina. The room for two people was very comfortable with a nice shower. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. There is a nice rooftop balcony to hang out in the evening. For this price I can highly recommend this place. Thank you!

MoroccoThere was nothing specific that I didn't like but if I would nitpick I wished there was some faster connection but but the connection they have is good for an average Internet consumer social media and everything but if you're work on something heavy I would recommend working on a Caffè
The place The place was super comfortable and the staff were super nice and everything was good everything was good Value for price totally recommend totally recommend for solo travellers. The staff were super innovative in how they host so I'm sure you would have lot of fun if you want to spend an important part of your (night)in the hostel

Spainsome ants at the end of the 3days in the bedroom. But no big deal.
the hostel manager gave us a bunch of recommendation. Organised the quad bookings, the hammam bookings and the camel riding booking for us, negotiated the prices and was super friendly. Even went for lunch with us. He even offered cooking classes as he was a chef. The hostel is nice, bedrooms comfortable and the upstairs outdoor terrace, the cherry on the top. Thanks heaps

LithuaniaDidn't find anybody at first when we came, had to go find the guy on the rooftop. Had to ask for towels. Bathroom was very small, no soap. Beds are uncomfortable, unless you like sleeping on a plain wood.

GermanyI had a good time at the Youth Hostel. First of all, don't expect luxury accommodation when you book the most affordable hostel in Essaouira. But what you do get is an always good-humored, always helpful and warm-hearted operator, Tarek. He is a real local and can give you tips on everything and is always available for a nice chat on the sunny terrace. Thank you very much and best regards!!!

LithuaniaNothing exactly, everything met my expectations, there was no problems.
It wasn't easy to get there, as the narrow streets, but it's in the Medina. The owner is very nice, easy going, would be up to help with anything, same as other workers there. As I'm of the bigger guys, instead of a bunk bed in shared room he upgraded me to the private room with the shower. Room were very well equipped and nice, big bed as well. Decided to stay another night, asked to keep same room for same price and i was told i could stay, as there was availability. Really appreciate for the room, same as the help with everything. Also the ride to the airport. Sadly my flight got delayed for 8 hours and i missed another flight home. 🥲 but in general it's really nice, affordable and friendly place. Market on the corner, could buy anything. Would definitely stay again!

GermanyOnly thing one could improve is reducing the humidity in the bathroom, because there were some moldy patches, but we already talked with the Tarek about it. Generally it’s important to be aware, that this is a hostel and not a luxurious riad, for some people a place like this does not provide the needs they want, but for us it was perfect and especially with those reasonable prices!
For me the Youth Hostel was the best choice, we could have made, before coming to Essaouira. As two young, female travelers it is important to both feel secure and comfortable in a place and everybody in this hostel made us feel this way. We had a two bed bedroom and our own little bathroom which was nice. The rooftop terasse is beautiful and you can enjoy the sunrise from up there (if you wake up early). We can only recommend to take a cooking class with Tarek Or try his homemade breakfast :) We spent many evenings up on the terrasse talking to the other guest from all around the world, you will have an enjoyable time :)

GermanyBed in the first room was slightly too hard for our liking, but that's totally up to personal opinion
Tarik was an amazing host who went above and beyond for his guests, always available, offered help and support on every occasion, from illness cure to carrying my heavy backpack, can offer help with organising activities from surfing, horse riding or a visit to the hamamm. Offers cooking classes and breakfast as well. Very clean and tidy place, spacious bathroom, two shared kitchens, lovely roof terrace to chill, very central but still very quiet, we extended our stay twice because we felt so at home

ItalyI stayed in a double room with my friend for three nights. The hostel is located in a quiet area two streets from the heart of the Medina. The hostel offers a good WiFi service, a nice terrace which becomes a meeting point for the various guests. Structure clean and managed by Tarik, a guy prepared and super available to different guest requests. For the last lunch he prepare for us a delicious bereber omelette. I highly recommend this hostel for those looking for a quite place to share with other travelers :)
