Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesAs Morocco gets ready for the Word Cup, there is constant construction going on which makes many places including the Gardenia very noisy. I stayed on the second (above the ground floor) floor and in the early evening sounds of a football match and sometimes disco music came wafting up to my room but it stopped pretty early. The area around the hotel like much of downtown Tangier can be a bit seedy, especially in the evening but this is true of many neighborhoods in this port town. The bathtub was not really usable for a bath because it was in desperate need of re-enameling but it was perfectly fine for a shower.
Hotel Gardenia is a relic from the past and feels like an old movie theatre from the lobby/entrance. The hallways are a glowing apricot color and the lobby has an entire mirror covered wall with a dramatic curved staircase leading up to the rooms. It is situated just off the main boulevard on a pedestrian only street and the facade has seen better days. The old name "Lutecia" can be found on the outside of the building but the new name "Gardenia" is hard to spot. My room faced the port and had a stunning view which changed from day to night. The bathroom was huge and filled with sunlight in the afternoon. The front desk man, Mehdi, was always smiling and helpful and made my stay a pleasant one.

PolandOK, maybe the place needs a renovation but if someone does not need the latest trends it will be fine. There is noise from the street happening regularly in the middle of the night as the rubbish gets picked up about 3-4am - earplugs suggested
Great location, super-friendly staff, big, spacious room and unexpectedly got a room with a sea/port-view

New ZealandThe whole hotel has seen better days. A full refurbishment is required but that would put up the price. You get what you pay for.
The location was good and Mahdi was a superb host. The views across the port were excellent and the room was a good size.

Hong KongThe hotel offered me a seaview room with balcony. The seaview of Tangier is fantastic and I could see the sunrise on the balcony in September. Two days is not very enough to relax in Tangier. It's clean, sufficient warm shower and have a bathtub, although the building is a bit old. No air-conditioning but never felt hot that the breeze from the sea is good enough and natural. The front desk staff is nice. The hotel is located near Boulevard Pasteur where a busy main road in the city with wide variety of shops and restaurants. The room doesn't facing to the road that avoid much noise, but the 'adhan' from the nearby mosques is a bit loud sometimes. It's about 20 minutes walking distance to Port de Tanger Ville with ferries to Spain, but I recommend to take a taxi if you carry a lot of luggage where Boulevard Pasteur and Rue du prince Moulay Abdellah is a bit uphill from the waterfront or the train station.
