Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWe had a wonderful few days at the Intercontinental Hotel. What should definitely be mentioned is the incredibly great service in all areas. Seldom experienced such good service. I would also like to say a very special thank you for the incredibly loving gesture, for the birthday surprise from the hotel ♡♡♡ The room service created such a sweet decoration arrangement in the room and then brought us lots of goodies for the children and for me a birthday cake + birthday card and a bottle of Prosecco to toast with. I found that so sweet and appreciative. But now to a few points about the hotel. The breakfast: The breakfast was fantastic. There was everything your heart could desire. I also particularly loved the breakfast corner for children, where there were handmade cake pops, waffles, energy balls for children and much more. The breakfast service staff was fantastic and you felt completely at home. About the room: Simply comfortable and super cozy and clean. To the fitness and pool/spa: A dream for sports fans. Everything your heart desires is there. We used it every day in the morning. Our children were always in the indoor pool. A little smaller, but it was completely sufficient. We couldn't use the beautiful outdoor pool because it was too cold in February. About the location of the hotel: Perfect location in St. Julian. You come out and are immediately in the middle of it all, surrounded by great restaurants, cafes, shopping, bus stops, sightseeing and much more. And finally to the lobby: The moment you enter the hotel you are greeted by the friendliness of the receptionists and staff as well as the impressive design of the reception hall, which made us immediately feel warmly welcome. Thank you very much, dear Malta Intercontinental team - you made it 100%, we felt incredibly comfortable - we will definitely come again and recommend you. Thanks ♡

MaltaI did not have my ID card on arrival at the property and I was not aware that I needed to present my ID card at check in, since given the fact that Im a local I was never asked to present it during check in. I had to walk back to the car park and get my ID since I was not allowed check in without it. I also didnt like the fact that there is no deduction in parking price when parking in the eden parking even though it clearly states on booking site that parking is 100 m to the left in eden car park. It is very misleading and I ended up paying 15 euros parking for just one night.
Waitress at the club lounge was extremely sweet and helpful dueing breakfast and the chefs during breakfast came and spoke to my kids and also gave them chef hats which made them extremely happy.

BelgiumOverall, the hotel is getting really old. We were not expecting this quality of finishes both for the exterior and inside the rooms and bathrooms. Room was very dark and location of lights were not logical. Cheap tiles in the bathroom. Carpet in bedroom looked very old. Pool was over crowded so we left right away. Staff was great but for someone who travels a lot and know good hotels, the reasons i mentioned above make me wanna go somewhere else next time.
Staff was great, Professionnal and very helpful. Breakfast was also good.

United KingdomNot the hotels issue, but St. Julian's is very built-up and not a place I would book if I wasn't there for a conference.
The welcome was excellent, the staff were lovely and very helpful. A standout was the room maid who was exceptional throughout my whole stay and really looked after me and the room. She was fantastic.

TurkeyWe were able to swim in the sea , but pools were very cold for our baby (Early October). Should be mentioned that you should not be expecting crystal clear seas like Greek and Turkish waters. The quality of furniture and kitchenware at the beach was not very much like intercontinental quality. The hotel entrance is in great condition, but some rooms and common areas need repairs and improvements, as there are traces of wear out. If you are looking for a nice room, you should book one located at 15th floor or above. Kids are not allowed at the rooftop pool on the weekends. We were instructed to go to the pool located downstairs, which had too much construction noise and limited views. Also, there are major construction sites in the area, making noise and disrupting wheelchair access around the hotel. However, if you are not going to carry a baby carriage or a wheelchair, no problem at all.
Staff is extraordinary! It’s been a long time since I have experienced such a great welcoming, helpful and kind hotel staff in Europe. 10/10. Breakfast is very good, and the seafood restaurant is worth having a dinner. Location is at the heart of the nightlife, walking distance to Portomaso. Rooftop pool has great views and nice burgers are served.

MaltaUnfortunately, the hotel is at the centre of large-scale construction in the neighbourhood. The indoor pool was rather cold when we used it and the place was noisy.
Large hotel with many facilities, including very good restaurants. Room facilities were very good too, including the welcome sweets, which were a pleasant surprise.

EstoniaThe entire hotel building appears aged and in need of an upgrade. While I can tolerate the paint peeling from the walls facing the garden (given the effects of sunshine and a southern climate), the cracking and bubbling paint in the bathroom should be addressed promptly. Additionally, the sink in the bathroom had noticeably dirty edges. I'm unsure if the cleaning staff has noticed these issues, but they could be easily resolved within a few minutes. We encountered an issue with breakfast. While there was a decent variety of food, the problem was that the food on the serving tables tended to be cold. This issue arises from the fact that the served food is placed under lamps, rather than being kept in heated marmite chauffantes. We sincerely hope that this matter will be addressed. I was disappointed that there was an espresso machine in our room, attached to the table, but unfortunately, there were no coffee capsules provided. I would have been more satisfied if the hotel had a parking solution for visitors with (rental) cars. There is a parking garage just 150 meters from the hotel, but with a daily fee of 15€. For tourists who need to drive in and out multiple times a day, it becomes quite inconvenient to pay each time for parking. Ideally, the hotel could provide a parking card for customers and charge for parking at the hotel reception during checkout, perhaps with a decent discount :) PS: While there was a designated line in the bathroom for drying swimsuits, they didn't dry overnight, likely due to the absence of heating, either in the air or on the floor in the bathroom :(
We stayed in a family suite on the 7th floor. The room was spacious enough for 2 adults and 3 kids, with two wide beds and an additional one on the couch. The tiny balcony faced a busy and crowded street with an active nightlife, so people who are not accustomed to noise might find it a bit too noisy. However, it didn't bother us, and we even found it quite fun to observe the bustling street activity. We appreciated that breakfast was served on the same floor at Opal Lounge, just a 40-second walk through the garden, crossing a charming bridge over a pond with koi fish. It was a wonderful experience that they served fresh waffles and pancakes for the kids. The poached eggs and Eggs Benedict for the adults were absolutely delicious. We were pleased to find a wide variety of places for quick snacks right next to the hotel, including options like smoothies, ice cream, burgers (Hugo's!), and drinks. There were also a few pubs and restaurants nearby, although we didn't have the chance to visit them. There's a private beach club for hotel visitors located just 150 meters from the hotel. We had the opportunity to visit it on our last morning, and looking back, we realize it was a mistake not to do so earlier. Given how lovely and convenient it was, we should have enjoyed it sooner. In addition to all these amenities, the staff was exceptionally pleasant. They were consistently polite, friendly, and helpful. We would rate the team a perfect 10 out of 10

United StatesThe location of this Intercontinental (and other 5-star hotels in the neighborhood, like the Hyatt or Westin) is really the weirdest I have ever seen. Right behind the hotel are the club scene and the red light district ... Also, the hotel is currently surrounded by construction. The latter is the result of an almost mini-Dubai-like boom, the former grew around these hotels over time. All not the fault of the hotel, but of an, apparently, greedy and uncoordinated local administration. Feeling really sorry for the really fantastic staff at the Intercontinental. Practical advice for other travellers: ensure that there is no more construction going on and make sure to get a quiet room if you are a light sleeper and ensure that you never turn 'right-right' out of the hotel if you are with kids ...
A great shout-out to Katerina, the Guest Relations Executive - she really made all the difference during our stay and is the best I have ever met after travelling ~60 countries! The first 24h were very disappointing for us (see below), but Katerina not only sympathized with our grievances, she provided us with a solution, esp. quiet room / environment we were craving and, hence, allowed us to enjoy the facilities (3 pools, great gym, ...) and our stay overall!!

Lithuaniasound isolation in the room was poor: I could hear a person next door snoozing their alarm clock for 1.5h (starting 5am till 6.30), the music they listened to, the staff in a corridor chatting so if one is a light sleeper - that’s a buzz kill.
