How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

I would have expected more details for the price we paid. You have to pay 1-2€ for the A/C which lasted for a couple of nights but the air was not coming cold enough to help with a night in august in Valletta. Also no adapters or toiletries, really useful for when you are just staying for a couple of nights (we had those in other apartments we stayed in Malta and are much appreciated).

Our listing is also very clear about what is and isn’t provided—including that we do not supply personal toiletries such as shampoo or soap, for hygienic reasons. As for the air conditioning, we have just re-checked both units in the suite this morning (at noon), and the room cooled fully within a couple of minutes. The suite is equipped with two A/C units for a one-bedroom space, specifically overdesigned to ensure comfort even in the hottest summer months. We always aim to provide a comfortable stay, and we value feedback as it helps us ensure clarity and consistency for our guests.

Verified reviewThis is an amazing place to stay. Very comfortable and in a great location. The rooftop is the highlight where you can watch sunset over Valletta. The hosts were so responsive and lovely, and also allowed us to leave our bags on our last day.
You need to pay for air conditioning with €1 or €2 coins which is not mentioned on the website. It was about €6 for a 2 night stay in peak summer so not a lot, but annoying as who has coins anymore?! You also can’t drink the water and there are no bottles provided. So make sure you come prepared with water, coins and also soap for the shower. And enjoy the view from the rooftop!

No windows in the room (I had a ground floor room)

Verified reviewLocation is excellent. The place is spacious and cute. There is an elevator. Easy to check-in and out of the property. Initially, it was difficult to get a hold of the property owner to confirm the late check-in time but was communicative once the contact was made.
Need to pay (insert coin) to use the A/C. No toiletries (not even body wash) provided. Floor was dirty.

A bit cold inside.

Each suite is fully air-conditioned with two air-conditioning units that can be used for both cooling and heating, and as mentioned in our listing, these operate on a pay-as-you-go system at almost cost price. This system is in place to ensure responsible energy use, as we have found that some guests prefer to leave the air-conditioning running even when they are not in the suite. We believe this approach allows each guest to manage their own usage based on their personal preferences. Verified reviewThe accommodation is just what you see in the pictures. The apartment is brand new and the qualities are really good. Henry, the host, was extremely helpful and welcoming. He was there to meet us when we checked in and he was always available via Whatsapp to help us with anything we needed (we forgot a UK plug to charge our devices and he lent us one right then and there). The kitchen is full equipped with anything you may need to cook during your stay. They left us some coffee and tea. It is very conveniently located about 5 minutes away from the downtown area. There are bars, restaurants and supermarkets very close to the place. The apartment is on very quiet street. The views from the rooftop were really beautiful!
Heating and A/C are paid apart from the reservation price whenever you want to use them, so keep that in mind when you book it. But it's quite cheap to use!
