I stayed in the garden apartment, which is on the 2nd floor. At night it was dark, so I couldn't see the stairs clearly. I hope they will install a light in future.

Location was good as it was in the hotel zone. Walking distance to the restaurants & bars. Room was big and bed was comfortable. Service was excellent as we could text the front desk on WhatsApp. They were very quick to respond.

The only negative would be that there are lots of gaps in the wooden structure so mosquitoes could usually enter but we found if we limited the amount of lights we had on in the room at night that it wasn’t as much a concern.

The property location is great, 5-15 min walk from restaurants we had booked. Being able to walk out from your room onto the beach was the best! Staff were very attentive and friendly. Happy to book us transport when needed. Breakfast brought to the room on request. Room was very clean & supplied shampoo , conditioner and Aloe Vera. We asked for an iron which was provided. It is very quiet there at night away from the loud beach clubs but still in walking distance. Although on the beach front and wooden structure we felt our personal items were save as there are many cameras and stuff watching the property.

Not much the hotel can do about it but there is some noise in the rooms above the reception from the road and bars around. We couldn’t be bothered since the rest was so good!

This was honestly one of the best experiences we’ve ever had on a holiday. What a peaceful and amazing place. Wonderful staff as well. Thanks for being so kind to us!

Having the kitchen available until 8pm for dinner maybe? Not that big of a deal as there are food trucks immediately across the road.

First to clarify I had a great vacation. I adjusted quick to everything and enjoyed my vacation. But a heads up of what we are getting could have helped us better plan the trip. They don't highlight anywhere about the theme of the resort which is a bummer. 1) Alaya is a 'Go Green' resort and lack basic amenities such as a refrigerator, TV in some of the rooms. One shower hanging from ceiling is all we get in bathroom. The toilet paper can't be flushed. So it had to sit in trash until the room service takes care of it. No exhaust vents in toilets. The room layout is not planned properly which makes the rooms cramped. Also the smooth finish on the floors makes it very slippery. Few drops of water and u never know when u hit the floor hard. Our kid had a very bad fall. 2) I WOULDN'T call this a KID FRIENDLY resort. The bathroom are not meant for kids. The floors are slippery. No onsite kid activities or any beach play tools. No kid friendly food options. Lot of mosquitos (its a tulum problem but without AC, one has to keep the room doors and windows open letting mosquitos in) 2) They encourage silence in the resort premises as their theme is to relax, not party. Not even some pleasant jazz. Light music on pho e is the only option unless one carries some portable device. 3) the on site restaurant/kitchen and bar closes at 6pm. We had to step out for dinners and late evening drinks every day. The food trucks right in front of the resort came to our rescue and are amazing. Tacos, crepes, pizzas, grilled sandwiches, ice cream and a great bar with lots of drinks. 4) last but not least, I feel it's very expensive for all the above reasons.

The location and proximity to the beach. We just had to step out of the room to be on the sand and walk to beach. Was very easy for kids to play in sand right in front of the room. The cleanliness at the resort. The rooms, resort premises and the beach were very clean and qell maintained. The high speed wifi was a blessing. communication over whatsapp for any requests is impeccable. The onsite restaurant closes by 6pm. So the options are the food court right outside the resort or the restaurants on the street(too expensive). The food trucks were a blessings. Great food for a reasonable price. Tacos, crepes, pizzas, grilled sandwiches, ice creams and a great bar with lots of drinks.

I like everything . The only thing I would add is a swimming pool . And then it will be even more perfect .

be careful when checking out and wanting to pay in pesos.. they tend to convert the Mexican pesos to dollars and then back to pesos which makes no sense… but other than tht the stay was lovely..
