Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwedenThe food was not great, but ok.
Amazing location. If you’re looking for privacy in a tranquil place at the beach without buzz and tourists, this is it. Beautiful but also unpretentious. Room was spacious and comfortable. Free parking. Friendly host.

Germany- People should know that there is no AC and you are not supposed to used hair driers. The hotel apparently has an ecological focus. The lack of AC is theoretically compensated by an adjustable fan mounted over the bed. This fan, however, has so much power on the lowest settings that you won't be able to sleep with it turned on due to the noise. - We got quite some moskito bites. Not during the night in the room, but at dinner even though it is indoors. The hotel is basically in the jungle, but this also means that after 7PM, the outside areas belong to the moskitos. If some kids leaves to door to the restaurant open, you are just prey. - The beach, as nice as it looks, is not really made for swimming. The water is flat for as I had the patience to walk into. Moreover, there is a lot of plastic washed to the shore (we believed it to come from the cruise ships in Mahahual). The staff cleans it regularly, but it's a fight they can't win. - Watch out when you drive to the hotel, the last part of the road has a lot of big holes.
- We have been there mid January (off-season) for three nights, and at no point in time have there been more than three rooms occupied. At times we were the only guests around which was really nice. - The place is very remote, which has the upside of shielding you from all the hectic of the more touristic places. Combine with the first point, we had the feeling of being on a private island :) - The service staff is super attentive without being overly present. - The room has been cleaned every day quite thoroughly. You can get new towels every day if you want; the sheets stay the same. You get one free 0.5l water per person every day. - Our beach-faced bungalow was superb. We had our own patio and hammock, and a direct view to the beach. The rooms a moskito nets on the windows that are permanently open. Moreover they were very spacious with lots of good solutions to place stuff. - The hotel area around the pool and the beach is probably the nicest part. It just looks beautiful and has plenty of spots to relax during the day. The pool is kinda small though. The garden is also swept regularly. - You don't need any shoes for your stay. - We stayed for 3 nights, which I think was good. I would say that with 4 or more, we would have to drive somewhere for day trip. - The good is good, and the card big enough to not make you repeat too much in 3-5 nights. Most dishes are either Mexican, Italian, or some sort of fusion. The cocktails are also fine. - Except for the shots, the prices are reasonable. Without holding back and including tips, we payed 315€ for 3 nights and 2 ppl for food and drinks.

NetherlandsI had last 2 times a better ; front desk / manager who arranges everything.
the perfect beach location. From your room door on your deck and in to the sand. From the beach you snorkel in less than 100 meters to the reef. Hughe room and bathroom. Good food. Small hotel so lots of private beach space! never seen noice kids there. And even a pool, small but nice. GOOD beds and shower.

United States of AmericaThe fixtures take a beating in the salt air so corrosion and wear and tear have taken a toll on things like door handles. It’s a very buggy environment outside, so bring your bug spray!
Under palm trees right on a long long peaceful beach. Close to Mahahual, costa Maya, but a world away from the cruise ship tourist trap. Beautifully laid out and modern-organically decorated. Lovely staff. Snorkeling on the reef right out front. Walked for hours along the coast, practically deserted this time of year. Fabulous sunrises. Great food and drinks. Picturesque. Super Quiet location (except for the birds, surf and rain on the palms). We added nights to our stay once we got there!!

GermanyProbably the thing of the food is not the best. As a Tourist, i would prefer to have a more Mexican variety on the menu instead of the Italian food. I mean, it's the Caribbean and i would suggest that they should offer better sea food options.
I really like the location! The hotel has everything that you need. The facilities are very good, the staff was friendly.

SwitzerlandThe Hotel is outside the heavy tourist zone of Mahahual. beautiful silent place. A real chill factor. Staff is super friendly. The whole east-coast has a problem with the seagrass. The employees are cleaning the beach every day, but obviousely no chance to put every day tons to nowwhere.

SpainSeaweed on the beach and the sea was not calm so we couldn't snorkel, but of course this.was not the hotel's fault, just disappointing for us.
Loved the hotel and had a great stay. Restaurant was good too, and there are a couple of other lodges nearby where you can also eat if you don't want to drive into Mahahual. Kitesurfing opportunities nearby, and just a lovely peaceful location.

AustriaThe current was strong and the white sand-beach was buried under tons of seaweed. Some parts of the rooms would need repair; e.g. our terrace door could not be locked. But we felt safe in the surrounding.
Great location between Mahahual and Xcalak. Beautiful architecture and beautiful garden guarantee pure relaxation under coconut trees. Very friendly staff. good price-performance.

Almaplena is a very peaceful resort but very remote! It's about a 30 min drive south of Mahahaul. The room and hotel are really nice but the whole place lacked a bit of atmosphere. This may have been as there wernt too many other guests when we were there. So if you want a complete get away it could be for you. The food is OK but not great and so if you're staying longer than 2 nights you may want to drive to another place (we didnt go but hayhu beach club is a 10 min walk away). Host Javier was incredibly nice and helpful but it felt like the rest of the staff were less experienced and confident. All in all a pleasant stay but with some extra touches and investment in their food options it could be excellent.

PolandCold water in the pool :-) Our terrace needs renovation, but we prefer absoluty perfect beach instead.
I like being in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful localization at the nice beach, nice restaurant and far away from crowds. Very unique design of the rooms. You need to have a car/taxi to get there and get out of as well ( for example: to Mahahual).

GermanyThe food. The restaurant food was bad, expensive and not well done. It looks like the menu was well designed but they somehow failed to achieve what the menu meant. Lobster was dry and tasteless with old re-heated veggies Pancakes were too simple, nothing great Fish was old, dry and very hard. They should perhaps simplify the menu to cook on site what they can really achieve.
The hotel and the location is amazing. Nice design, Comfortable and the staff very friendly.
