Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe only true negative about the hotel was the air conditioning in our vaulted ceiling room 8030. It was 72 to 75 degrees or so all the time. It never cooled down below 72 degrees even at night. This led to some warm sleeping. It was workable, but not great. Everything else about the room was indeed dated but just fine. View from the room was terrific. We would still give the room rating an 8 overall.
The food was quite good in both the buffets and the specialty restaurants. We did not like everything on the buffet everyday, but there was always plenty to satisfy my family. From 7am to 10pm there was always at least three options for food (including the snack bar). The snack bar could provide a meal in itself basically 24 hours a day. Drinks were very good. Would give the food/drink a 9.5 rating. The beach is simply terrific and absolutely a 10 rating. Entertainment provided every evening was pretty good quality, not amazing but filled the evenings quite well. Entertainment rating is a 8. Staff was friendly and helpful every time period. Staff rating is a 10. Location / setting of the hotel is near perfect. Very well kept grounds and beautiful. Hotel is walking distance to many activities. We walked to the Mayan Museum / Ruins 45 minutes south, La Isla Mall complex 20 minutes north, the mall across the street several times, and up / down the beach multiple times. Location / setting rating is a 10. Couple other thoughts... Safety seemed effortless so was never concerned. Attendants at the front entrance watch those coming and going well. Wife and daughter when alone never felt unsafe entire week. Also, this place had some of the best sunrises I have ever seen.

United States of AmericaI think the food could be better, especially the Mexican restaurant. They need to work more with the customer service of the restaurants. The Bar staff was nice and happy. Unfortunately, the service at the restaurants was not good, not every single employee, but mostly the waiters. The restaurant with the most unpleasant service was the Italian restaurant.
We loved the facility, the beach, the amenities, the room, the beds. They have chairs at the beach which is an A+, The ocean is beautiful, Nice pools, and the views from the hotel to the beach are amazing. Tons of activities Yoga, Zuma, aquatics.

United States of AmericaWould like for reservation restaurants to be more available when they are empty. I also think the seafood restaurant could dim the lighting and slow down the service a bit.
I am alway greeted and sent off by the best doormen at Tucancun. They truly make me feel welcome. This hotel has good location and consistently great staff. I do think the upgrades were definitely met with my expectations this trip. Great job. Nerd alert, I love the book nook and I have to say the coffee stations are excellent.

United Arab EmiratesTheres no kettle (i love to drink tea, but have to go downstairs to get it when i need). When we arrived, the beds looked unchanged (but we were so tired after 12h flight so we didn't have power to ask them change the beds). They changed the linen the next day. Food variety: most of the time food choices are repeated, however bearable. No slippers in the room.
Rooms are spacious, had a big balcony, there's a hairdryer, fridge with mini bar. There's a coffee machine for the filter coffee(they give 1 sachet per day). Breakfast is the best meal of the day! It was my favourite: lots of fresh juices choices, cold cuts, cheeses, fruits were also so sweet and fresh and tasty! Thank you for a great breakfast!!!

United States of AmericaOff and on Wifi. The pools are NOT HEATED. As always, very occasional rudeness of the staff, mostly time share sharks at the hotel who accost you and shake you down with their questions to hook you. I made it clear that I was not interested in a time share condo from the beginning, but I still had several unpleasant encounters, one in which a rude condo salesman tried to involve my wife, which royally P.O'd me. I made my displeasure known to this jerk who was hard selling her, and fortunately for him, he left. I can't stand disrespect, especially to my wife and family. I suggest smiling & ignoring. Like most Cancun hotels, they have their restaurant reservation system rigged so you have to make the reservation in the "buy a condo" area of the hotel. If you want to reserve Mexico Lindo, it's easy. But if you want the seafood restaurant (please note that the gourmet seafood restaurant doubles as "Charaboya" during the day which is the "near the beach" restaurant. At night they convert it to a semi-classy seafood restaurant. This rigged deal is a ripoff to the guests because you have to show up at 7 AM TO RESERVE and then wait in line to make the reservation, only to be told that you cannot eat that evening until 8:30 or 9:00 P.M. even though the restaurant opens at 6 PM. As usual, I fought like a demon to get in early, and I did succeed, and the food was good. But I doubt that the average traveler would like to endure that hassle for the seafood. Your choice. The female manager from Charaboya was very kind to my wife and myself, but we did hear her speak strongly and disrespectfully to a couple who had the audacity to show up earlier than their 8:30 PM reservation allowed. The worst food was at the Italian restaurant. I could have killed an elephant with the hard pizza they served there. A shame because the atmosphere was superb, the Italian music, and the decor are all excellent, but the food was not good.
The beach view was stunning, and the view from our room was amazing. This was the biggest plus of this property. Pool locations were excellent. Pool area restaurant had indoor and outdoor dining options with incredibly lovely views. Also, the overall location was excellent. Near everything. Bus stops everywhere. Easy access to high-end stores, La Isla, and downtown Mercado 28. Very safe in my opinion. Guards watching over you makes you feel secure. This is important anywhere you go. The food at the main restaurant "El Mirador" was good to excellent. Great waitress there who really helped was named DALIDA PEREZ. Sea views were always great from there, as well as great servers.. The downstairs Charaboya is also good and closer to the sea and they had excellent Ceviche every day. The specialty restaurants Mexico Lindo was very good and the Italian was OK except the pizza. Mexico Lindo had the best mole I have ever eaten. I was not impressed by their fajitas, but the service was the best. The hotel desk did not answer my phone calls from the hotel room phone to get a morning wake-up call. This is inexcusable. Other than that, the staff was almost always smiley, eager to please and friendly. The one-hour evening shows were great. They have a theatre inside the hotel and from 9-10 PM every night they have a nice one hour show. This was a real plus. We enjoyed the trapeze and circus, Michael Jackson, Pseudo opera singing, and Mexican Folklore dancing. The evening beach security and overall security was perfect. Soooo important. Gotta have that.

United States of AmericaRoom was really noisy because of the old AC and also external noise from the machines that are on the ground. When we arrived, a sales consultant insisted that we should do the breakfast presentation. After we tried to say no for a few times, we accepted just to end the harassment and considering we would earn some discounts and gifts. The hotel should change the approach and try not to annoy guests who just arrived.
The all inclusive works well and the pool area is really good.

United States of AmericaLocks on sliding doors were busted. Had to change rooms. Took 4 room inspections to find a room that all the locks functioned. Air conditioning had to be adjusted by maintenance and several lights were burned out.
The staff there was excellent. They tried their hardest to accommodate your request. However, they had no way to contact Booking.com to see if we had transportation from the Occidental back to the airport. As I noted in my other note, Booking.com website would not take the confirmation number. It just kept asking for it over and over again and there was no enter button on the webpage. There’s also no way to call Booking.com. I will use Expedia or some other service in the future.

United States of AmericaThe premium option was not worth it at all. It claimed that premium options came with access to a select # of beverage and desert at the premium lounge, room service and guest were welcomed to their rooms with chocolate, strawberries and wine. In my experience, the premium lounge could be likened to an office. The beverage and desert stand there were quite small and only included a very small selection of items. The buffet food service open to all guests had better selection of items than the premium lounge (it came with more selections of food items, servers that were very pleasant and was open 24/7) I never got the strawberries, and/or chocolate and I had to shamefully ask for the third time before the bottle of wine was delivered. When I asked the second time, the lady gave me a pesky wooden key holder. I felt diminished as a person. Other than these, I had a great time. I felt like I would have gotten all the benefits of an all-inclusive stay without paying the extra for premium. I am also so grateful for Gonzalo, and the rest of the staff at the front entrance (the valet team, the barristers). Everyone was very very pleasant. It is possible that communication could have been lost regarding the premium welcome gift. I had to stop asking for my welcome gift as it started seeming embarrassing tbh. Other than these experiences, i had a great stay. My friends who stayed at a much more expensive hotel often complained of their beverages tasting bland but I did not have this experience at Occidental. The food and drinks were so tasty.
The conceirge at the front entrance were very nice and pleasant. They were all full of smiles and assisted with any questions that you had. Gonzalo was awesome. God bless him and all the amazing staff that always wore a smile and made me feel at home.

ColombiaDepends on your room you will have either to the beach with a balcony or to the parking lot, with no balcony. We have the view to parking lot, so the wet clothes took longer to dry. If you can ask for a view to the beach if available. The staff was really nice and open to any questions. But in some occasions we notice discomfort on them when we served our own drinks, and feel pressured to leave a tip. We where on a budget and didn't have much spare money to leave. They will try to offer you the deal for the chain hotels plan, take into account this conversation will take between 1:30 to 2 hours, in order to have the tour and see the full offers. We listen to it, didn't take it, and the staff was ok with it. Do not feel pressure.
The hotel has nice installations and the staff is really nice. They have 2 buffets open, almost at every time, which is nice depending on your schedule. They have 2 reservations restaurants, I suggest reserving in the early hours, they where nice, in the see food portions where a little small, but flavor was amazing. And in the Mexican one, we where amazed, best over all. Buffet was good, not so many options or variations but really good food and quality. Good beverage selections in alcohol, you could ask for a specific drink or that they prepare to your liking.
