There could be more relaxing chairs/hammocks in the small garden. I would suggest to make the half-open terrace smoke free, since smoke remains there and is unhealthy for people inhaling it.

Hosts are very welcoming. The overall ambiance and colors in the hostel are very nice and well chosen. Very quiet which is great since diving often starts early. Location good. Kitchen well equiped.

It is very intimate and a lot of people who are there stay for a very long time. So if you’re passing through for a couple days this is something to bare in mind. The bathrooms are very home like and could use some tlc

The location is a bit far from the centre and walking under the sun is not always pleasant. There are mototaxis which would take you to the Malecón, though. Unfortunately, there is no public transport on the island and taxis are very expensive.

The hostel has a lovely and homely feel and you feel welcomed as soon as you arrive. Miri, Sabrina and Miroslava take great pains in keeping everything running smoothly. The hostel is very clean and the female dorm spacious and comfortable. There are great tours available and l feel sorry l did realise too late.

I rented a studio and I realized that there was only a tiny barrier between my door and the common area where everyone hangs out. People are typically up hanging out until well after 11 or 12 at night so I would say it's probably not the best option if you're looking to call it in early.

Casa Samay is a relaxed environment just a short (10 min) walk to the centre of town, and around the corner from a bank and grocery store. People staying here tend to connect with other travellers and I think casa samay is best for travellers that want to spend time hanging out with other travellers. I found everyone really friendly and helpful. I also love the little touches of decor, and I had a good experience with booking diving through the owner - Miri Adventures.

The female dorm that comes with aircon has conditions - the remote is confiscated in the morning and only given back at night. As there was not even a fan in the room, I had difficulty cooling down upon my arrival due to the temperature, & having walked from the ferry terminal. Though after chatting with the host an exception was made for my stay.

A little disorganized. No formal check in, if I had not mentioned payment I likely could have left without paying them. Many of the activities got canceled. Facilities are a little old, could definitely use some work.

Sabrina and Miri were really lovely. Everyone staying in the hostel were really lovely people and we ended up doing things together the whole time.

There is so comfy place to sit or lie except your bed - its all just hard chairs around little tables. If would be so great if they added a bean bag or sofa or hammock in that area just for a more comfort. The only other thing I would say is - if you book the 4 bed girls dorm it faces out onto the communal area and there is zero sound proof so if your a light sleeper and want to go to bed early (get some good ear plugs ) - but when I was there we were all respectful of other guests and tried to keep things quiet post 11 pm.

The owners! They are amazing. So kind. Gave me sooo many things to do in Cozumel. The warmest friendliest owners ever, they made me feel comfortable and welcome instantly. It’s very homely and small and so everyone has no option (for better or worse!) then to all sit in the same little eating and communal space and so we naturally all chatted and played card games and chatted each evening. it was lovely.

We had two strong fans but air condition would have helped us better through the warm nights. The water pressure in the showers could be a bit better.

Ara and Diego are great hosts and welcomed us at their cozy place. They gave us recommendations for everything we asked for. Our private room was well equipped, it was clean and we were very comfortable at Casa Samay. We can only recommend it!

Ara and Diego are extremely easy going, friendly, smiling and patient. I felt super comfortable and would highly recommend this place. Absolutely clean, cozy and loveable place I highly recommend! All good! Maybe the fact that my bed was the one, 1m below the air condition what caused me a major cold and a nose completely closed. But I asked to turn a/C off, once the room was cool and only the ventilation to stay on, Ara came and followed my wish and saved me from dying so it was actually good and nothing bad could be found! I ll come back for sure!

There was a little smell of humidity in my room, but I talked about it to the tenants and they said they already noticed it and planned to do something about it. Great service!!

The staff was super friendly and helpful, Ara and Diego have a very big heart:) Ara gives a lot of good tips for food, things to visit around the island and recommendations for diving places. Casa Samay is a very homely place with a well furnished kitchen, comfy rooms, clean bathrooms. I also rented a bike from Casa Samay, good choice! Perfect for backpackers and couples as they have double bedrooms too.

I booked this hostel based on the good reviews, but as a solo traveller I felt it wasn't easy to make contact. There's only one dorm in the accommodation which hosted a girl who stayed for long term and another girl who wasn't social. Next to this it a bit far from the city center and to meet new people I would recommend another location.

The only thing for me are the bathrooms. Ara kept them very clean, it’s not that. To me personally the amount of people per bathroom is less comfortable. But again, that is a personal thing for me.

Ara and Diego are the best. They created a little home from home. Everything is very clean, all that you need is there (even a little lock for your locker). Free drinking water. Great location, quiet area. Comfortable beds. Fans & airco in the room. Excellent wifi. I’m not a hostel person, but this has been the best due to how Ara & Diego run it.

The rooms are all furnished with a lot of love. Ada is incredibly friendly and helpful. The hostel prohibits bicycles and snorkeling equipment. The location is very central and quiet. And the kitchen is well equipped!

The spaces weren't very clean (although I did see the staff constantly cleaning). Twice I found a cockroach in the bathroom. Kitchen had many bugs/insects. Bed sheets were not very clean.

Decent location (20 minutes to ferry). Friendly staff, very helpful for booking tours.

This is a super great, laid-back hostel, with a little garden, table and chairs outside and is in a quiet, safe neighborhood. All areas are cleaned twice daily. It has spacious 4-bed dorm rooms, with air conditioning in female dorm (at night only). Sheets, towels, padlock and key for lockers are provided (no charge). They also have private rooms and a studio apartment in the garden. There is a very well equipped, spacious kitchen, a drying area outside and 2 shared bathrooms, with showers (always hot water). Staff are super friendly, engaging and professional. They hire bicycles, offer tours around the island and diving courses. There is also off road parking for motorbikes. I had a super wonderful, relaxing time in this hostel and met some friendly and interesting people - I was genuinely sad to leave! Therefore, I would happily stay here again and would highly recommend it.

The bathrooms smelled quite bad. I think this was from the old mops used to clean the floors hanging in there. Being quite sensitive to smell, this was something I struggled with but I imagine others wouldn’t care as much as I did.

It’s a great value for money and we loved the vibe at this little hostel. Comfortable bed and hot showers. The bed might be too small for tall people but fortunately we are small Dutch people. The owners are very nice and sweet and organize trips and activities for the guests. You can take surfing and diving lessons. We booked a night snorkeling trip to spot octopuses, but weather conditions didn’t permit boats going out. Guess we have to come back for that one :). We celebrated Rosca de Reyes and we were very happy to experience this Mexican tradition.

Sabrina and Miri, thank you so much for the wonderful stay at Casa Samay for the past 5 days! I lived it as a very nice time in Cozumel. Even with that crazy neighbor and his screams. It is a beautiful place to dive here on this island, I was able to get my PADI in open water, next time with mini. From today I will continue traveling with my girlfriend (the other Sabrina) to Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Aruba. Thank you so much for everything and good luck with this beautiful place.
