Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe tunnel to the beach was very sketchy -- dark, smelly, scary. We didn't use it, which meant instead crossing the street on foot, which during peak traffic hours was sometimes challenging. (The beach itself was beachy keen.) We didn't love the beds -- wish we had been able to get a queen bed instead of two doubles, and the mattresses and pillows were too hard.
The room was clean, and although it was basic and utilitarian, it has the things that mattered -- shower, safe (with a small deposit for the key), linens and towels, a sliding door to a "balcony" (no patio, just a view out the back). The included breakfasts at the attached ME Restaurant were delicious and generous! The location wasn't bad. It is walking distance from the heart of the Zona Dorada but not so close that loud noise and party atmosphere invades the space. There are several restaurants as well as a mall in close walking distance. Although we did not have an ocean view, we did have a view over the lagoon out back which was nice. In short: basic, no-nonsense accommodations in a resort area. Most of the staff was helpful, just one who seemed to not want to interact with us. One or two staff members spoke good English -- the others were willing to do their best with our limited Spanish, Google translate, and gestures.

CanadaWater sputtered and would lose pressure constantly. Sheets were thin, and the blanket was under the top sheet. In-room safe had no lock, presumably by request. Room lighting had mismatched colour temperatures. Balcony was narrow, and the railing was low. Despite the desk, the rooms seemed to be missing a chair or table or luggage stand in addition. Lack of storage in the bathroom for anything, as even the top of the toilet tank was occupied. Chairs in the breakfast restaurant were half broken. Breakfast service was slow, resulting in receiving cold food. Selection for food was simply variations of scrambled eggs.
Good view, airy, and on the beach. Friendly and helpful staff, and was quite clean. Pillows and mattresses were good. Decent breakfast with chorizo.

CanadaThe rooms needed up dating, terrible beds, wifi didn’t work for our room at all, the hot tubs at the pool weren’t any warmer than the pool itself.
We liked the location and the look of the place in their online ad, but the place didn’t live up to our expectations, although the pool area was nice enough. The desk staff went above and beyond, they were extremely helpful

United States of AmericaThis is where this review gets complicated because I really want to like this hotel but there are big, big problems. The hotel is pretty run down but seems to be being renovated very slowly. For example, all the rooms on my floor except were being slowly (but loudly) worked on. While I was there (on the 7th floor), the elevator broke, meaning that I had to climb 7 flights of stairs to my room on one occasion. The hotel clearly is not cleaning its sheets properly because I constantly found long hairs of various colors in my sheets and I have very short hair. That's just gross for all the other implications such discoveries bring. The furniture is dinged, the walls are scraped, the lighting in the arrival area is beyond subpar for a medium-class hotel. Also, I seemed to be one of very, very few people in the hotel while I was there. Seriously, it seemed like there was almost nobody there with the exception of a few Mexican families. On one hand that was nice, but if I were the type of person who came to Mazatlan for the pool scene and cocktails, I would have been very disappointed.
This is a difficult hotel to review because some things were fantastic and some things were absolutely subpar. ROOM: I was fortunate enough to get the best room in the hotel (without spending much more than the basic price) and the view was spectacular. The hotel is kind of horseshoe-shaped and the hotels on the SW tip of the horseshoe (esp. on the upper floors) have great views. Those in the U and the NW part of the horseshoe are considerably less great, and the rooms in those zones below the 4th floor probably have no sea view at all and must be super disappointing for guests. LOCATION: The hotel is located on the malecon/road (beach road and "boardwalk") between the so-called Zona Dorada and the Centro Historico/downtown. As such, a critic might not-incorrectly say that this hotel is in the middle of nowhere as there are few bars or restaurants nearby compared to other neighborhoods. HOWEVER, I came to believe that this "middle-of-nowhere" location was actually a big advantage as it meant that the beach across the malecon/road was basically empty. Your own beach! Also, there were far fewer drunk tourists and horrible tourist trap shops than you would find in the Zona Dorada. And if you need those things, the Zona Dorada is a short-ish to the north. As for me, I headed south to the Centro Historico on foot (~40 min on malecon) or the local bus (full of foreign tourists/retirees & Mexicans) that stops across the street from the hotel. At night I took Uber, which is dirt cheap, back to the hotel. So while some might find the somewhat isolated location of the hotel a bummer, for me it was a positive. Also, if you are a baseball fan, the hotel is within walking distance of the baseball stadium. I speak Spanish and I found the reception staff to be nice and helpful, esp. Maria. They also speak English. The pool is very clearly being well cared for and was lovely.
