Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe rooms have seen better days but are still comfortable and the beds were very comfortable. Overall, I would definitely stay here again when I am in Mexico City
The hotel Lobby is very grand. It has lots of portraits and artwork and must be more than 100 years old. The Concierge and Front Desk staff were great. Housekeeping was very good too.

United StatesToiletry amenities were pretty sad. Shampoo was awful, no conditioner provided, body lotion was never replenished. Towels are old & tired. Oddly the refrigerator in the room is locked. On Friday & Saturday nights, the neighborhood stays “active & loud” for hours despite the windows being closed.
Great location. Convenient to get to different parts of the city. Beds were comfortable.

United StatesI liked everything about the hotel.
This is a wonderful hotel. It is full of history and character. The staff is very good. I really enjoyed all the displays in the lobby and the beautiful decor. The hotel opened around the turn of the century and they have managed to keep the history and feeling of the hotel while completely updating it for the modern life style. My room was spacious and comfortable.

United StatesThe area tends to get busy and noisy during the night. So if you are not into the crowd, consider a different hotel.
Extremely beautiful hotel with nice rooms in the heart of Zona Rosa. The staff were very helpful and polite. The room was spacious and quiet and was cleaned everyday.

CanadaSince the hotel is a bit old the rooms are not very sound proof so could hear lots of the sounds from the hallway. The shower was a bit dated and could use new facet, but it did work ok and had good pressure.
Great location - loved staying in Roma norte with lots of nice restaurants and cocktail bars, also cool staying in this historic hotel was beautiful to look around and made it more interesting. Very comfy beds and pillows, big room and overall very clean despite the hotel being very old. Would stay here again when visiting Mexico.

United StatesNoise from the street at night.
The location is great. The hotel is so beautiful and unique, staff are so nice and friendly, the bedrooms are a little bit dated, but maybe this is to keep the old style the same . We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and definitely if I come back to visit Mexico city I'll book at the same hotel.

CanadaThis hotel is absolutely magnificent. The only drawback is the neighbourhood. I was in the Zona Rosa in 1979 and was gorgeous but the last 40 years were not kind to the area. Full of sex shops and the mansions lining the streets are nothing like they were in their glory days.

United StatesWe didn't flood the bathroom but the hot water did take an extraordinarily long time to reach our bathroom. This was the same situation at our hotel in Oaxaca. The shower head did spray out in a weird way, in all directions. The shower curtain left a lot to be desired. I don't know where they picked out these items. If they replaced the head and curtain, I think it would fix a lot. The tub didn't drain as fast as the shower produced water. So you end up standing in some water. We got cleaning one day which was only the bathroom, strangely not the bed or new water. Also, the water bottle policy of 2 bottles per room per day is silly. Both other hotels we stayed at in Mexico had water refill stations all over the hotel, so that you didn't have to waste so much plastic. We did appreciate the fridge though. Lastly, when someone used the gym on the 2nd floor, they slammed weights on the ground. This was felt all over. I think they should prevent this, as the banging was annoying. None of this stops us from recommending this hotel. I think it's rating around 8.6-9.0 is just about right.
We stayed 8 nights and in general, we really liked this hotel. We would happily recommend it to someone doing sightseeing in Mexico City. The check-in process was quick, with an English speaking front desk person. We did request to be placed in a quiet part of the hotel (not facing the street). I'm not sure if the street is really that noisy but the back of the hotel is very quiet! We found the room to be very clean and the bed/pillows to be comfortable. We always had hot water and the AC worked well enough (not super cold to our liking but cool enough). The window did open to allow some fresh air. The room was very large with nice furniture. Some people say it's worn out but to be honest, not much more than most hotels. The bathroom was recently re-tiled as part of a refresh. The hotel lobby and all ground floor, as everyone says, is stunning. When we returned to the hotel after dinner, we often sat and relaxed in the lobby rather than our room. Many nights there was live music in the hotel bar (The Phone Bar). It was super nice to listen to and we found the rest of the guests to be quiet and polite at the hotel. Many guests were taking photos in the lobby because it's really neat. The area around the hotel is completely safe and we had zero problems getting Ubers to our destinations. The closest metro, the pink line, was down and replaced with buses while we were there, which was unfortunate. The proximity to Roma Norte and Condesa was excellent. You could reach many places by foot in those areas. We did end up taking rides to the historic center, Chapultepec Park/Polanco and to further places like Coyoacan, Xochimilco and Teotihaucan. Honestly, the prices were not that bad and it saved us time. We did eat a couple nights near the hotel, which had plenty enough choices. We liked that the hotel did not force services onto you. We had complete choice of moving our own bags, getting breakfast or anything else they offered.
