While the breakfasts were fine Mision Jalpan did not include breakfast. That was costing us basically an additional 200 pesos every AM where they wanted payment right away. Staff was friendly but no one spoke english. Not that it was a problem but there might have been an occassion where we needed to communicate more than our limited spanish. Also the town of Jalpan is small and definitely off the tourist track. The restaurants including Mision Jalpan ranged from good to ok.

Lovely sub tropical courtyard where we enjoyed breakfast each morning. They also had a pool. Jalpan is a small town and definitely off the tourist track. We saw all five misiones and they are worth it. Some hairy drives through the mountains. A must is to drive to Xilita and see the Edward James garden. Absolutely worth it. Our last day we drove out to see a cascada (falls). Drive through the mountains then another 4K on a very rough narrow road (watch for the dogs) then a 1500 meter hike. Beautiful cascade. Being Canadians we went in swimming. Freezing LOL.

Room 110 was next to the main road but the traffic noise died down to nothing overnight, so as long as you are aware of this it is good.

Great location, Aircon in rooms, good price and friendly people. For a rural Mexican hotel it offers simple rooms at a good price.

The windows cant be opened due to some idiotic architect intervention. Also they didnt want to give us a room with openable windows unless we'd pay more.. really poor!

There was not a thing we did not like. I would recommend getting on the second floor just because of traffic noise on the side streets along which the hotel is located.

The bed was very comfortable, the room was spacious, everthing was meticulously clean, the food at the restaurant was good (no stomach issues at all), the small garden was charming, staff helpful etc. We were in room 123 which had a single king bed; 2 beds in a room make it cramped.

Staff was a little too hands-off. Provided all the basics but never felt genuine.

Nice hotel in a good location close to the main square. The rooms were comfy, although the bathroom was designed a little inconvenient. The pool was nice, as was the outdoor terrace.

Would have preferred their own parking, cars have to be left in street, but I understand since space is limited.

The location is excellent, right in front the main plaza. The restaurant quite good.

There are only 2 people taking care of the restaurant, so it doesn't matter how much they hurry, it always takes forever to have a meal. On the other side, were realy nice. Also, both our rooms had a break of energy for some time....

Beautiful location and hotel located right next to the "Mision de Jalpan." Everyone was very nice and the place was very clean. there is a restaurant, pool and bar within the facility. Across the street is the plaza and church yard with is wonderful to walk and see the magnificent facade of the church.

The windows in the sleeping room don't open. Instead there is an air conditioner but many people prefer fresh air. I suppose the sealed window is to keep out the noise because the hotel is on the central square where the most important Mission built by Junipero Serra is located. Bad coffee; but that's not unusual in Mexico despite it being a country that cultivates wonderful coffee. No parking - although we were able to find a space not too far from the hotel. Jalpan itself is not a very interesting town.

The location in Jalpan is on the square in front of the Mission so the location is good. The rooms are sparse but clean and comfortable enough. The staff are friendly and there is a restaurant that serves all meals that are fine. Good amenities in the bathroom including a magnifying mirror. There is a small but nice museum next door.

The hotel is in the very town centre of Jalpan, and is a short taxi ride from the main bus station. The building is very nice, and the proximity to the Franciscan Mission is an advantage.

These aren't really "bad" things, just things to know which keep it from being a perfect 10. There is not sufficient seating near the pool, and it would have been nice to be able to order drinks from there and enjoy the space. There's no hair dryer in the room or pool towels - bring your own. Also would be fantastic to have a line in the shower to hang wet clothes to dry.

The location is absolutely the best you can ask for. The hotel is right in the center of town, across from the church and beside the museum. There are several restaurants within walking distance, a great place to get paletas and a small supermarket. The room was sufficiently sized with a good bathroom, nice towels and air conditioning.

It was very hot and the first night we had a room with a ceiling fan. This would have been ok but the windows didn't open. We asked to switch to a room where the windows opened for our second night and were given one with air conditioning. Much better! Also, when i checked in i was accidentally charged taxes although these were already included in the rate. I didn't notice until the next morning, but it was not a problem straightening it out.

Nice, quiet hotel with great location and pleasant outdoor restaurant area. Staff was very helpful and nice. A bonus - there is an excellent doctor around the corner.

Hotel could not provide a town map. reception could improve a little, seemed unprossional for a hotel of that many stars.

Excellent location right next to Mission. Very friendly and nice restaurant staff. Service was excellent. My room´´s window faced the street, but there was no noise molestation.

The only thing I may suggest is to have more indoor common areas for winter, the outdoor common areas are ok for spring and summer but for winter some more indoor space would be better.

Everything, particularly staff friendship and kindness, excellent conditions and cleanliness of facilities and quality of food services.
