There were no water bottles or towels in the room when we arrived, but after calling reception someone from the staff brought them straight away. Water in the shower took a little too long to warm up but it eventually got there.

The location is absolutely stunning, specially if you are visiting Xcaret, it has it’s own entrance to the park (paying xcaret access beforehand). Facilities are amazing (we loved the tennis courts), food is delicious (has it’s own taco place) and staff are the best.

food seems tailored mostly to Americans and not Mexicans, good salsa is hard to find, cheese and ice cream has very cheap taste, like the lowest quality same coffee is very bad tasting like burned, but one can't expect much from all inclusive buffets

the hotel itself is very impressive and has many interesting little spots for photos. also there are actual ancient ruins inside! the staff is very friendly too foodwise bread is nice, fruits are great

The food options were not properly labeled for allergens, although there were some labels it was not clearly specified which allergens were on what. Maybe they could improve that and have more information on crossed contamination in the kitchen for example.

There is plenty of space to walk around and activities for everyone. Staff were friendly and trying to make the best with the shortage of people working there.

The check in process and reserving a dinner were a bit slow, other than that no real issue.

The grounds were amazing, beach area was beautiful, the staff always smiling. The food at the buffets and the restaurants were excellent. The wildlife and ruins were amazing. Gustavo the night manager was kind, considerate and understanding, he helped our family immensely.

Breakfast excellent, other meals good, drinks excellent and availabale in many places. Only minus that many bars closed at 6 p.m. (those next to the pools and on the beach ). The whole area is very nice, beautiful and clean. Rooms clean, good service in restaurants / bars, evening programm high level. Would definately stay again if visit P. del Carmen. Taxi to the center of the city about 20 mins / Usd 30,-. A bit slow to sign in because of the long que on the desks, anyway after that everything works fine. Enough pools, very nice beach. Just next to the Xcaret park, easy to visit.

Long wait to check in. Some options at buffet were finished at 9-9.30pm. First concierge in our building was unhelpful to the point of obstructive when we didn’t want to listen to upgrade information. Had to visit guest services in person to book restaurants instead of phone or app.

Loved the animals running around the resort. Excellent breakfast.

We stayed in building 18 and the music near that pool seemed louder than necessary each day. We were given some resort money, told the resort stores needed to accept it and some of the stores said they did not.

The very friendly and helpful staff. Clean pool and beach areas, variety of food for meals. Saw staff every day cleaning the grounds and picking up any trash they saw. Bar tenders were quick and efficient at making any sort of cocktail.

There was one day that we didn't have hot water for a shower. It would be nice for them to have large water dispensers at a couple places on the property instead of handing out the small plastic water bottles. They tried to sell us the 90 minute timeshare presentation and were very pushy about it. We already knew we didn't want to spend 90 minutes in a presentation for something we weren't interested in- even if we could a discount of it. Time is too precious to waste when you're on vacay!

We loved the property- it's gorgeous and treed and we ran into a little monkey, agoutis, koatis, as well as other animals during our stay. The proximity to Xcaret is really ideal. We were pleasantly surprised by the food (after reading so many negative comments). We actually really enjoyed all the food we ate- if you like fresh fruit and fresh vegetables you won't be disappointed with the buffet restaurants. The fruit and salad bar was great! All the food at the stations where they cook things for you in the moment was also really tasty and hot (omelettes, fried fish, tacos, etc). We skipped a lot of the other areas of the buffet most of the time- seemed like the food wasn't very warm or tasty. We had one night at an a la carte restaurant and we chose the Mexican restaurant. Was delicious! Paco's tacos was also really yummy. We found the drinks good and just asked them specifically not to make them too sweet. We also liked that they use reusable cups for the drinks- they're not just plastic that get thrown out. Even though the "beach"/inlet is small it never felt squished. Granted, we were there during the week and staff members did tell us that the whole place get's really crazy on the weekends. Something to think about if that matters to you. It was also nice to see many Mexican nationals at this hotel.

A little disappointed with the staff this time. Wait staff was a little lacking, as we had to wait and go find people to help us many times. They also did not seem as friendly as we have experienced in the past, maybe due to the fact that they are understaffed. We like a big long beach, and the small lagoon area was nice, but we missed having a place to go for long beach walks. We have stayed at many all-inclusive, and the food was a bit disappointing this time. Specialty spots were not great, and not having as many eating options as we have experienced made for a repetitive experience.

It is a unique property in that it is very much a jungle, which is different than any other Barcelo property we have stayed at. We enjoyed the adults only pool as well, as we do not have small children. The location was exceptional as it borders the Xcaret park and made it very nice to go back and forth on the day we visited. We could go back and change in our room as well as come back to eat.

The checkin process was not organized and the staff at the reception did not care that we were standing for over 20minutes. It was not busy as all. Ultimately the lady who checked us in was very polite

The floors are incredibly dangerous when wet and they can be a little slow to mop up the water. My friend slipped and fell on a wet spot she didn’t see and cut her elbow pretty badly. Since people are mostly walking in flip flops I’d expect them to be more proactive about mopping up water after the rain, especially in high traffic areas where my friend slipped. Additionally, I became sick after eating at the Italian restaurant, I’m not sure what I ate, it wasn’t the salad bar or water since my friend had the same and was fine, but I was sick for about 24hrs which put a damper on my trip. Luckily it cleared up quickly. Overall the food in the Italian restaurant wasn’t great, the quality wasn’t good and it made us reluctant to try another restaurant, however, the Mexican restaurant became our favorite for the rest of the trip, everything we ate there was delicious and didn’t give me stomach issues! The buffet was okay too but sometimes there was excessive oil in the food.

The property is beautiful, in a great location, clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We always felt welcome everywhere we went. There was all kinds of wildlife on the property, even monkeys and deer! I fell in love with the Macaws and was grateful to get pictures with them. I really hope they’re treated well!! They were probably the highlight for me because they’re so beautiful. The Mexican and Steak house restaurants were our favorites, very good food! We were on the beach everyday and enjoyed the easy access to the bar and buffet over there. We also enjoyed the shows at night, our favorites were the magic show, the opera singers, and especially the Michael Jackson show.

The staff were in incredible. But the room AC wasn't very cooling. The food was good but staff could have advised us on check in that we have until 1 pm on check out day for access so we missed out.

Check in was HORRIBLE. We were in line for almost an hour because the staff takes forever to do check in and give you access bracelets.

The location is great if you’re planning on visiting the XCARET parks. It doesn’t have a full access to the beach but they have what is called a “caleta” which is a man made salt water pool that was beautiful. Resort is full of wildlife and the staff was extremely friendly and polite.
