Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsWe loved it! Best stay in Mexico, or maybe ever! The people from the hotel, Fernando and Fanny, were the kindest people. We loved waking up with the monkeys on the balcony and feeding them before breakfast. One of the baby monkey’s even climbed on my shoulder because he was curious. We felt so comfortable and at home. We went to the XCARET park during our stay, which is not far from the hotel. We catched a shuttle (because of the heat) and Fernando brought us to the stop and also picked us up at night. We ended up staying another night because we loved it so much!

United KingdomNothing to do with the hotel here but just perils of staying in the actual jungle - we had parked our car in front of the hotel and woke up to it covered in poop. Guess some animal was sleeping in the tree above 😁
Feels like a treehouse, and is very well located, only 20 mins from central Playa del Carmen. Beautiful jungle surroundings, too.

BelgiumMosquitos. Bring repellent! (Outdoors though, room itself was okay with AC)
Hidden gem in a tropical lush forest. Complimentary breaky wasn’t huge but just the perfect selection to keep everyone happy. Room was trendy. Don’t use the pool but looked inviting.

LatviaLovely and very friendly staff. Great food we had ribeye stake and a chicken. It was delicious. Everyone is very helpful. To top it all off there are friendly gentle blackface monkeys coming to greet you. It’s close to all the main attractions. Worth every penny spent

AustriaI guess if I had to complain I’d say that it’s not so easy to park there because of the terrain and the trees, but we managed to park our sedan every day no problem.
The room was beautifully designed, had all the necessities including a kitchenette and the hotel had hammocks and a pool. On top of that, the monkeys that visited the hotel grounds daily were the highlight of the stay! We could feed them on the ground floor as well as in our own balcony. The hotel was half an hour away from Xel-Ha park and is also extremely close to Xcaret parks Xplor and Xenses.

SwedenIt’s nice to have a rental car, it’s located a little bit off but only 6 min by car and there’s bikes to loan at the hotel. We actually liked not being in the center though because it’s not noisy and busy and there’s no monkeys in town ;)
Super cosy, comfortable beds, clean, simple but freshly made breakfast every morning, very friendly staff and best of all - there’s spider monkeys everywhere!! Would definitely book it again if coming back

NetherlandsWhat an amazing hotel! Close to Playa del Carmen, but still surrounded by jungle. It's only a 15 minute walk from Xcaret park, and they can help you book the tickets. The staf speaks excellent English and are extremely friendly. They gave us a lot of tips and even bananas to feed the monkeys! Breakfast is okay, dinner is good. They don't offer a lot of traditional Mexican dishes, but as we were travelling for 3 weeks already we didn't mind the international kitchen.

United StatesOmelette could be better. A normal slice of toast, with the omelette, would be better than two bite size pieces of bread.
Breakfast was okay. Location is great if you plan to visit the Xcaret parks.

ChinaEverything is great. My only suggestion is the hotel should take more precautions on insects control, especialy at the dining area.
The stay at Casa tortugas had truly exceeded my expectation in various aspects. This boutique hotel is located right outside of the Xcaret Park. The driving time from this hotel to the park is around 5 minutes. My room was spacious and well decorated. All staffs were attentative and showed hospitality, friendliness, and care. We had chances to spot wild spider monkeys and even feed the monkeys with bananas provided by the hotel, which is the highlight of our stay.

United StatesWifi signal was often weak and sometimes didn't work at all, so good excuse to disconnect. Restaurant a bit expensive, 220-300 MX for a pizza, 60 MX for beer.
Great breakfast, occasional spider monkeys, very large and cozy room w picture windows, hot water showers, minifridge, free bike rentals, kind staff! 5min walk to Xenses, 15min walk to Xcaret.
