Laguna Mar is a hybrid timeshare/rental property and is very popular. While they advertise that all rooms have an ocean view they do have rooms that look out on the back of the property that overlook a construction staging area and the only view is a narrow band through trees to see a sliver of ocean. It is a particularly ugly view. Given the cost of a stay it is very annoying to be paying for a view of construction at the same rate as others with a full expansive view of the ocean/beach. We complained and were moved mid-week but we were not alone. There were many similar complaints and moves. The staff try to accommodate but you essentially lose a day - out of your room by 10 and a move-in at 4. Strongly recommend that you speak with your concierge before your arrival to specify what you want in your room. Even better if you can specify a building. One more thing, and this is endemic to the area, if you’re looking for good Mexican food don’t go to Cancun. They’ve dumbed it down in the belief that all tourists do not like flavourful, spicy food.

The villas, pools, bars and physical facilities are clean, modern and conducive to having a relaxing vacation. The surrounding area outside of the hotel has a multitude of shopping and dining options with bus transportation readily accessible for trips to grocery stores and restaurants along the ‘tourist strip’.

The sales staff is too pushy for buying their holiday plan. Even when my 4 year old daughter literally almost started crying of hunger, they wanted us to fill the feedback form, for which I request that I'll do after lunch, but they were adamant. The other staff was very good housekeeping, restaurant, room service etc

We were close to the central aircon on one of the roofs so it was very loud on the balcony.

Excellent pool area with poolside service. Beach just in front with sun chairs. The room was spacious and clean with a lovely view from the balcony. We had a kitchen and laundry and great bathroom with bathtub. The staff was very accommodating and helpful.

Everything from location to rooms (views/cleanliness, etc.) - was amazing. We loved the customer service. Stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in September with my family. Felipe at the Conceirge was really helpful - He helped us with booking all our tours/activities and gave us the best value options. He went out of the way to make sure that our stay was comfortable.

the building isn’t as clean as I thought it would be. Definitely a lot needs to be changed or clean, and the walls needs painted job, because the paint was coming off.

I wish the on-site store offered more items and stayed open later. I dislike high pressure timeshare sales so we avoided the front of the hotel where these folks conduct business. I wish the mixed drinks were stronger. I wish check-in was faster.

Was across street from a large mall which contains restaurants and retail. Very close to Cancun nite life central. Hotel is beautiful. Clean rooms, large pool. Ocean front with cabanas. On-site restaurants. Very little to not like about this facility or staff or cleaning help.

Didn’t like the pushy sales pitch to become an owner. To tie up 90 min of your stay to get 100-300 of credit is not good. If you listen to the presentation thst really only takes 30 -45 minutes . When you say you’re not interested that should be it! Period. Especially when you paid for your stay.

Liked the variety of pools and activities. Restaurant menus need to vary . It shouldn’t be the same at the sports bar and pool restaurant.

Restaurants overall I think can be improved. The food was not of great quality and obviously not cheap as it is a resort, so definitely something to improve.

The staff is super nice. All the facilities are great and the location is amazing. The room has everything you could need and the views from it where gorgeous.

No wifi for the first day and hotel knew of issues beforehand & should have emailed, enabling us to arrange data roaming at least. Had to push to get 1 hour later check-out, yet hotel check-in time is not until 4pm. Partial breakfast charges, though breakfast was covered in our rate, had to be disputed at check-out. Also, an overly complicated final invoice with odd breakdown of room rates & taxes in MXN made a correlation with a booking confirmation in USD difficult. Overall, the experience is not quite up to the typical Westin standards of other resorts we have stayed at.

Location, pool, beach, breakfast, staff other than front desk were accommodating & friendly. Also nice surprise to have a washing machine & dryer with soap provided.

The room given to us was right by the sports bar and as early as 6am, you hear the staff pushing some trays, a lot noise early in the morning that woke me up the whole time we stayed even after telling the front desk about the noise. And they don’t clean the room everyday and had to ask for new towels on the days they didn’t clean our room.

The jets in our tub wasn’t working properly and the lock in our sliding door was broken. I thought our room would be an ocean view, but it wasn’t. They were also very aggressive in selling timeshare. Beware that they will offer for u to attend a sales talk in exchange for discounts at excursions. Dont do it, its cheaper to buy tickets to excursions online or at expedia.

We had a one bedroom villa and it’s exactly perfect for a family. Our room is very spacious and the bathroom too! The room has the amenities perfect for a long stay. The kitchen is packed with everything we needed from pots to dishwashing liquid and sponge. The laundry in the room is perfect since we only had small carry on luggage with us. The vacuum was helpful to clean up our mess. The housekeeping staff did a great job cleaning our room. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The pool is PERFECT, overlooking the beautiful ocean. The pool is so big its visible when we were in the plane! The location is perfect, close to a grocery store and right next to a bus stop. It’s also right across a mall. The resort is very quiet, perfect for fun and relaxation. They also offer free activities in the resort.

We participated in a sales meeting for 90 minutes. I felt so much pressure to do that. I understand you want to sell, but I suggest you use a better strategy so guests don´t feel harassed

The room was big and comfortable, and all the amenities were excellent; we had a beautiful view, and they cleaned the room every day, which was a plus after the pandemic.

It took a little over an hour for us to get into our room after checking in. The desk said they didn't have my correct phone number when I wrote it down clearly. The entire staff Is very accommodating and try their hardest to please. Especially those on the restaurants. The food is HORRIBLE! We had our first dinner at the main pool restaurant, Viento, pricey and awful food. The buffet at Oceano wasn't any better but was included with the cost of the room so can't really complain. Luckily the market is fully stocked and the room has a full kitchen so we cooked. Stay here, eat elsewhere

The entire hotel is BEAUTIFUL! Very relaxing and luxurious with an amazing location on the beach. I love that the beach is private. And the entire place is immaculately clean! I LOVED THE AIR CONDITIONING!!!!

The food was ok, I was expecting it to be better, but it was not bad. I did not like the fact that I was being solicited to try and attend a seminar for a timeshare. Although, I canceled, my intention was not to attend a seminar while on vacation there.

The pool was outstanding with a lot of room and the beach was also great as well as the location of the hotel.
