Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesLoved it all
Love this resort!! Will definitely return. Super private getaway with a mature crowd. Quiet, tranquil, peaceful. Good food and amazing staff. Beds were decently comfortable but not our pillow preference (too flat), though housekeeping did bring us another option. The true magic of this place are the private cabins that have been tucked and nestled into the natural jungle and very private attached outdoors showers. It’s incredible. We barely left our room we loved it so much. There were mosquitos around during our visit (early August) but the hotel provides a natural citronella spray to keep them away - and the scent was nice. It also seemed to heal the bites we did get very quickly. Overall, if you just keep applying the spray periodically it’s no bother. The natural beauty of the place was worth the mosquitos that came along with it. It was truly magical. Highly recommend!!!

United KingdomThe private plunge pools are fantastic. The privacy of the villas and their generous size. The position of the property in the jungle but also so close to the beach. The staff were absolutely amazing.

United KingdomThe location is a bit limited. We weren’t lucky as it was seaweeds season so pool was the only option. However there weren’t much where you can go along the beach since all places are private. Felt a bit stacked in the hotel.
The concept and the villas are great deco and experience. The whole team is very helpful and respectful. Special mention to the team from the restaurant and the pool area. Very kind and attentive. Food in general is amazing. The private pool at the villa is delightful and we saw wild monkeys coming to drink water from it which is amazing.

United KingdomThis is one of the loveliest hotels you will find. The staff are absolutely fantastic and the food was exceptional. We have been lucky enough to stay in 5 star hotels around the world and this one is definitely up there. A couple of small points - the electrics and plumbing in the rooms are a bit dated and they should invest in a decent coffee machine. These are small things in an otherwise wonderful experience. The staff and the food and incredible.

United StatesIt’s the jungle, so be warned of the possibility of little critters
While planning a winter escape, I focused more on the type of resort rather than location or beach. I wanted to feel pampered, zen and with nature. I had stayed at Viceroy hotels in the US before and always had a good experience, so I was happy to find this one with only 40 or so rooms and the type of setting I was seeking. The care the staff took was unparalleled to any other experience we’ve had. They looked after us, brought us treats, knew our preferences and were always so accommodating. The massage was the best we ever experienced. The vibe of the common areas is low key; no loud music or obnoxious behavior, the food was excellent. The suites are so different from your average resort, the bed was huge and comfortable, each room has an outdoor shower and plunge pool. The rain head showers were a delight with excellent pressure. I can’t say enough about this wonderful place (obviously). If you’re seeking an out-of-the-ordinary adult experience to relax and be pampered, this is the place.

United KingdomMore casual dining options would be nice but there is a beach club a short walk down the beach which provides an alternative for lunch or early dinner. On top amenities, i.e mini bar are on expensive side
Location is stunning, the jungle atmosphere really unique and relaxing. Quiet and feels very private, as there aren't a huge amount of people and you have plenty of space Rooms are luxurious, huge and comfortable. The private pool and outdoor showers are so luxuriant and incredible to have in the room. Staff amazingly attentive and provide fantastic small touches (a specific course was made, off menu, for me one dinner as there was a particular ingredient I wanted to try). Gym is excellent and free cold filtered water provided in there. Spa is available to book on request with a free steam room and heated pool (treatments are extras). There's a great on site pool. There's 2 choices of restaurant with reasonably varied menu options (more casual and a high end dining options) and regular "theme nights" e.g pizza and pasta, mexican night, steak night (these are geared to American tastes to a degree). Breakfast is good and the location of the breakfast dining tables is beautiful. Walking around the site is simple. The hotel is able to arrange taxis if you need to get anywhere (i.e we got a taxi arranged to Puerto Aventuras for around $75 return) and you can make it to Playa Del Carmen for c. $20-25 each way

United StatesThe price of our room per night was A LOT! I think if I were to pay that much again I would expect a bigger room or a loft to separate beds from next to each other.
We loved the jungle walking path and feeling like we were in a jungle. We loved the outdoor shower and the plunge pool. We loved the welcome we received with little extras! The service details were spectacular! Staff did everything to make sure we were comfortable and relaxed. We visited the spa facilities as well and enjoyed that! It never felt crowded and the animals we saw were a highlight as well!

United KingdomAs it was frequently cold, there should be some sort of heating in the bedroom and bathroom which would also help to deal with the feeling of damp and cold damp towels. The lighting in the bedroom was poor and, in the bathroom, abysmal. The water pressure in the shower was totally inadequate. Its controls were unfathomable to start with and something needs to be done to stop the cold water running rather hot for some time.
The breakfasts were good and, as long as it was not raining, the site was perfect. However, the indoors venue was claustrophobic, cold and dimly lit

United StatesWe really enjoyed the quiet evenings, but next time we would like a little more entertainment after dinner. Perhaps a short fire show on the beach or quiet music played during dinner. They did have a small band perform during dinner around the pool and that was nice.
Loved the small intimate feel of the resort (only 41 rooms). We felt like we had the resort to ourself and were treated that way. Staff welcomed us by name the first morning we arrived at breakfast. The service was impeccable! From cold towels on the beach to anniversary rose petals and dessert to remembering our favorite drinks to surprising chef treats and “drink of the day” brought right to your beach/pool chair. Willie was our favorite beach/pool sever and knew what we wanted before we even asked! Our room and back porch with pool was as big as our house back home! Felt like we were in the middle of a jungle. The landscaping is natural and large tropical trees provided complete privacy on our back porch and outdoor shower.

United StatesI think this was just a genuine mistake, but upon checkout we were charged for a bottle of tequila from the mini bar for like $220 USD. My partner and I don't drink, so we knew that wasn't us. When we brought it up, they promptly removed the charge. Just be sure to check your bill! I also felt like the transportation that the resort organized for us was a little over priced. $300 RT to the airport, $80 RT into Playa and that's before tips. It was great service, but a feature that would completely enhance the experience would be like a complimentary service transport into Playa considering that the resort is not within walking distance of the city. We also got eaten alive by Mosquitos, but I won't blame the resort for that! They equipped us with spray and other repellent!
The resort is beautiful. After having staying in Playa a few other times, I loved how quiet this location was. Our villa was completely private, and we were able to enjoy some peace together without interruption from staff, other guests, and more. Everything was comfortable, and built in harmony with the jungle. We saw monkeys and macaws from our plunge pool. The soaps they give you are incredible. The spa was beyond impressive, and I had probably one of the best massages I've ever experienced there. The facilities, food, and experience was top notch.

United StatesAt times the rave-style music from the neighbouring resort was obtrusive, but only during the day. But it’s difficult to escape that anywhere along this coast.
This was our second stay, and it was even more amazing than the first. The rainforest vibe feels very private and secluded. The villas are very comfortable and well appointed. Our villa had a beautiful outdoor shower, private pool, plus a large bath inside, and the bed and furnishings were all very comfortable. The nature of the individual accommodations means there’s never many guests around. The service is exceptional in every area. The food is excellent also. And there’s almost never any children around! This is literally the only place we will ever stay on the whole east coast of the Mayan Peninsula.

United KingdomFried eggs were very badly cooked probably by someone with no cooking skills. The coffee was luke warm each day and very seldom was it served with sugar and sweeteners. The bread you serve is really appalling US supermarket type bread. I was told it was made on the premises. If this is so you need to employ someone who makes real bread. Why no fresh orange juice? Oranges out of season? I think it's the middle of the season in December.
The location was excellent.
