How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Seemed poor value compared to our other accommodations in Malaysia. Beds and pillows were hard and sheets thin and scratchy. Bathrooms had little storage or shelves, door stuck and bathroom basins and kitchen had cold water only. Electrical socket WITHIN the shower was a concern and seems unsafe.

As a homestay, we aim to provide a comfortable, home-like environment rather than hotel-standard facilities. For example, in Malaysia, it's quite common for hot water to be available only in the showers, while kitchen and bathroom basins usually have cold water. We use cotton linens and provide both soft and firm pillows to suit different preferences. I'm sorry if these did not meet your comfort expectations. Your comments regarding the bathroom door, storage space and the electrical socket have been noted, and I’ll be following up with building management to ensure everything is safe and comfortable. Verified reviewOur host communicated with us at a very early stage already, making sure that all our needs would be met. Easy instructions to get the key for the apartment. The apartment itself was very clean and comfortable. Nice beds, nice shower, nice view from our balcony over the city. And a beautiful swimming pool. Walking distance from the city. Plenty of parking available. The apartment also felt very safe and secure.

Verified reviewVery central location, the place was clean and spacious. Little touches around the apartment such as little soft toys, games, etc, made it feel very homey to stay there. Rachel was very responsive. The first time we used the washing machine, water leaked and when I contacted Rachel, she came within 30 mins to fix the issue to ensure we could be comfortable staying there.

Regarding the swimming pool, I understand your frustration. The pool rules are set by the condo management and I make every effort to inform guests ahead of time. Verified review(1) Host is very responsive, and has taken the initiative to inform that the sofa bed in the living room was spoilt and she has changed it to normal sofa. She checked if we were ok with the arrangement. (2) Check-in is very easy and instructions provided were clear. (3) The whole unit is very clean, hygienic, warm and cosy. Smelled nice the moment you checked in and walked into the unit. (4) Location was central. (5) Basic needs were all met, with bath towels, tissue papers and even 3-in-1 coffee provided, with filtered water tap.
(1) Water pressure could be improved. (2) Bath towels provided were not very absorbent.

The floor was not clean and sticky. The lighting of the apartment and the property is quite dark. The sofa bed is old and uncomfortable because can feel the spring. The shower water pressure is not strong. The check in time is 3pm and check out time was very early at 11am. The air freshener in the house was too strong.

Regarding the water pressure, we do have a water heater with a pump, which can occasionally be turned off by previous guests. As for the check-in and check-out times, they are set as advertised, and I hope this didn’t cause too much inconvenience.
