How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewLocation: well situated. Close to the town center and the bus station. Services: I recommend the transport to Taman Negara with van and boat. Well organized. Amenities: shampoo and gel provided. Also toilet paper, only one roll provided at the begining, but you can request more if you run out of paper with no charge. Rooms: We had like a common space for several rooms which included a kitchen, living room and terrace. Our room had private bathroom inside, but some rooms had to share wc. It was clean. Confortable bed. All Good for the price, Not a big luxury but Good for some nights. Recommended acomodation in Cameron Highlands.
Services: they offer several full day/half day trips and van transportation. We did the full day tour and NOT recommended. If you want to enjoy tea plantations take a Grab to Cameron Valley Tea Shop and do a small trecking through the tea plants. In the trip they will take you to BOH plantations which are nice, But you can not walk through them, it is like a view point with a shop and a cafe. A lot of people and only 40mins there, impossible to taste tea as the qeue was really long. Cameron Highlands are famous for the tea and during this trip only 40min in the plantations, it is ridiculous. It is the same time you spend in a small zoo with sick animals or in the cactus point which is more a garden shop, nothing special. Check in/out: limited reception schedule, not 24 hours.

Verified reviewLocation was good and apartments and rooms are really nice and clean.
The only thing I didn’t like was the tour organised by the hostel.. I strongly recommend to don’t do it as it is not well organised, the guides don’t explain you anything of the attractions you see (apart from the tea fields) and all the other attractions apart from the Boh gardens feel like an “add up” just to justify the price of the tour. (I did the full day one).
Thank you for staying with Oastel. We’re sorry for the inconvenience. Your booking for the full-day tour, as stated on our website and posters, clearly shows that entrance fees and food and beverages are not included. Tea and strawberries are available for purchase only.

Verified reviewCommon area was lovely and clean, pool table really nice touch. Water to refill bottle and fridge were very handy. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfy.
We had a sharing bathroom and there was no soap or hand towel, it also flooded anytime anyone had a shower. But given the price it still is incredible value for money.

Verified reviewNice room in shared apartment. Very clean, room was comfortable with table for working. Hot shower, fridge, electric kettle on site, drinking water available at office. I would have liked to book this room for my entire stay in Cameron Highlands, but ended up staying only four nights due to availability.
My room was on the 5th floor, and wifi was unreliable. I teach English online and need a reliable connection and a good phone signal as a backup. Unfortunately, my phone had a weak signal, and sometimes the property internet went off. The signal was fine for the first day's classes, but the next day the internet was down and I had to relocate to the office to teach my classes. The staff was very accommodating, which I appreciate, but it would be nice to have consistently reliable internet in the room.

Verified reviewGreat facilities, good price. The lady behind reception was absolutely lovely - could not have done enough for you. Genuinely interested in my stay. Lots of information about hikes etc.
Room smelt a little damp, but considering the amount of rain this place gets suppose it’s inevitable.

Verified reviewAbsolutely horrific. Only the organised half day jeep tour was good. The full day jeep tour is not worth it.
- unsafe and very aggressive staff (owner) - several cockroaches in the kitchen and in my personal bathroom, and crawling over my luggage. - extremely bad customer service - owner came into my room without any indication at midnight after I reached out to reception about the cockroach issue, while still in my underwear - Staff immediately started threatening to evict me out of the room at MIDNIGHT without even talking to me about the cockroaches - Staff started to search my room at midnight to find the key, threatening legal action if I did not cooperate. - on top of this moldy bed mattress, moldy curtains, moldy bathroom - the accommodation tried to prevent me from posting a review by filing to booking.com that I never checked in. I did not get my money (for a 3 day stay) back. I had to call booking’s costumer service to leave a review. Absolute worst accommodation I have ever encountered. I had to barricade the door to feel safe from the aggressive staff while sleeping , had people on the phone the entire night before I could finally leave this abomination. I will never come back, and I absolutely cannot recommend this place to anyone else.
