Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The hotel is stunningly beautiful, kitted out with antique furniture. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Georgetown. Finally the food is incredible, breakfast is delicious as is dinner at the restaurant which is actually on the Michelin guide. I would go back in a heartbeat.

FranceFrankly I would say there was nothing I didn’t like.
Ah what a wonderful place. A fantastic restoration. Well placed in the centre of Georgetown wher you can walk everywhere.A real treat. Not only was the hotel stunningly beautiful but the front desk and all the staff were so nice and ready to help. The rooms were enormous the furniture beautiful, the bathroom gigantic with such a pretty tiled floor. The pool area was a little jewel the breakfast perfect and pancakes light and fluffy, all this before I get on to the restaurant which was authentic with tasty offerings of high quality cuisine. Would I go back? Yes, yes, yes!

It is an authentic Peranakan building in the heart of George Town. Elaborate Chinese Malaysian design. Period furnishings and tile, adapted for contemporary comfort. Michelin honorable mention restaurant. Great bar.

United KingdomThe location was excellent and enabled you to stay in the heart of George Town. Being able to walk to local restaurants and bars a bonus. The hotel is a most sympathetic conversion of former shops and gave one a feel of the past.

AustraliaThere was nothing I didn't like - there was even a thank you card and small gift in our room when we checked in.
Our room was very spacious and we loved going to the dining room for breakfast. The staff were fantastic. Loved being able to swim in the pool to cool down and relax after a day exploring Georgetown.

United KingdomNo light - the hotel photo shows a light and bright room. Our had no natural daylight and no windows that I could open. Actually no windows could be seen. They were covered. I wouldn’t miss staying there - you should definitely stay but I couldnt really manage more than 1 or 2 nights in such a dark room however spectacular.
Unique room. Beautiful and carefully curated pieces. Fabulous experience to stay there. Dont miss out. Complete immersive Penang experience. It took me 20 minutes at least just to look through and read all the wonderful items in placed in my room.

Wonderful location and very well renovated property. The 3pm tea and local treats by the pool daily wonderful touch. Staff very friendly. We would have liked some face washers in bathroom but this maybe not a thing which is fine. We would stay again in a heartbeat its lovely.

AustraliaIt wasn’t a down-side for us, as there are amazing food options outside, but some people might not like that you can’t get lunch or snacks through the day. But a short walk outside provides an array of options. And there’s always Grab delivery options.
The location close to Little India is fantastic. The restored historic building just amazing - with little hidden doorways and rooms everywhere. And the tranquil pool to retreat to in the hot afternoons was a delight.
