How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewVery nice location
Lodges quite expensive for the level of comfort

Verified reviewThe lodge is one of the few accommodation choices that the private company ONE boasts in a huge estate neighbouring the wonderful Waterberg Plateau. It’s the most expensive one of them all. The rooms are big, but for three hundred and fifty dollars per night, this what guests are offered inside them: (1) No A/C (2) No fridge (3) No TV (4) No WiFi (actually, the lodge’s WiFi is awful throughout the premises) (5) No shower gel (6) No coffee machine (7) No help at all with one’s luggage (8) A very bumpy dirt access road The activities offered by the lodge are wonderful, though, especially the afternoon rhino drive with Jonathan (you can’t miss it - it’s amazing, and his an excellent guide), and the morning plateau trek (David, on the contrary, isn’t the best guide in the world - certainly he’s not going to get the year’s award for Mr. Sympathy). All have to be paid separately, of course, but are not terribly expensive. As a consequence, the value for money guests get for their money is very poor. The lodge is terribly overpriced. Look for other, cheaper, choices around.
All the items included in the list above, and, above all, breakfast and dinner. They are terrible. Guests can’t even get fresh juice (they get sweet lemonade instead!).

Verified reviewStaff were wonderful. Room and food lovely. It was a bit pricey for what it was but overall lovely.
The hike to the summit was a little disappointing. There were too many people and it was difficult to hear what was being said.

Verified reviewJust the absolute beautiful serene bushveld that draws you in. Just can’t get enough of the absorbing views. Breathtakingly beautiful.
Privacy and noise levels especially early in the morning.

Verified reviewLocation is incredible
Location is great but all paths to the plato are “paywalled” so you can only go with a very expensive guide. Also we did not see any baboons which was a bummer.

Verified reviewVery beautiful setting and the food was good, nice afternoon cake and coffee offering as well with nature trails nearby. You could hear and see a lot of animals
Terrible (non-existent) wifi connection, room was very musky and felt a little unclean. Property seems a bit outdated and don’t think it was worth the price of the stay.

Verified reviewWe went on the rhino tour which was amazing - excellent value for money and a real experience. Scenery at the camp was lovely. Looked like some good walking tracks around - sadly we didn't have much time to explore.
It was expensive for what it was. We went for the budget option (Waterberg Valley) and it was very basic - for example the window covers weren't attached properly and kept falling off. I usually wouldn't mind but the staff said that if the baboons see anything of interest in the room they will try to get in through the windows (which were basically chicken wire). So we had to keep all food and valuables in the car. The food was also very average - I usually wouldn't mind too much but we were paying what I would consider a fairly premium price.

Verified reviewRoads were horrible. Meals bad and no toilets at dining hall which was sparsely fitted with tables, chairs, etc. The game dive was not up to standard. Refressments: Pathetic: beer, chips in a bowl, water and ciders.

Verified reviewWe stayed in one of the basic "tent rooms" which overall are designed to give a glamping experience - everything needed for a good night sleep in a minimalstic setting. Comfortable bed, clean spacious room, nice tent window openings to enjoy the sunrise and nature sounds. The view from the room and the restaurant was simply superb. The restaurant chefs went beyond to accomodate food restrictions and, overall, the regular and special menus were excellent. Ultimately, what makes this place overall stand out and totally worth staying at are its location, the views, and the unqiue activities (rhino tracking on foot!).
The only negative was the (useless) mosquito net - it left wide open spaces on the sides and did not even touch the ground - had we actually needed it against mosquitos or crickets, it would have not served its purpose.

Verified reviewThe location and the activities. The hiking to the Plateau is a must.
Very poor signaling on the paths, and lack of warning about the dangers of encountering snakes or even rhinos on the way. There are room for improvements

Verified reviewDon't skip the hiking trails especially the easiest trail. Amazing flora and fauna. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Food was tasty, but not a lot of options. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Internet was super slow. It was our last night in Namibia and took me 1.5h to check in our flights. :(
